TROTS - Youth Education and Skills Training

The Alumni Coordinator Rosita Leeflang in collaboration with SAAA-members and non members created and participated in support of the mission goal, different workshops for the youth in various children’s homes in multiple districts. These youth education and skills trainings were meant to help the youth overcome fears that block them from doing what they want to do.
In total 176 youth spread over 10 institutions, between the ages of 13-25 were selected by the caretakers from the homes, to participate in the workshops. The workshops were held on-site.
For this project the districts Paramaribo, Commewijne, Nickerie, Para and Wanica were visited.
The following topics were given:
1. Writing a CV
2. Self-presentation
3. Basic communication
4. Public Speaking
5. Career planning
6. Hygiene
7. Expression through art.
