    This really helped. The connection was bad on one of the flat connection. It was melted into the plastic. Seems like I'll have future issues with that, but at least I know what else to check. Thank you!

    Thanks. I was really scratching my head when I replaced the bulbs and I got no brake light. Then the other 2 lights(blinker and light)work. I'm going to try to clean the connections.

      vista7 you will likely find a burned connection for the light. Cleaning makes a good temporary repair. Eventually you will likely need to replace the entire light.

      @@YourCarGuyDR I tried cleaning it but it still didn't work. I ended up just buying a new tailight assembly and it works fine now.

    2007 jeep liberty.
    Third light works fine (when I press on break pedal)
    Nighttime, rear lights work fine (same bulb as break light)
    No break light when pressing on break pedal (rear running lights will turn off)
    Break fuse is OK (#12, 15a)
    It's not the break switch because the third light works

      So a couple of things to check but one is the most likely. The brake and tail light are the same bulb but it is a dual filament bulb. Meaning the tail light filament can be fine and the brake light filament inside the bulb bad. However based on your description I would guess that you have a bad ground going to the brake lights. Not completely bad but not good either.

      I had the same issue, you have two ways to fix it 1) buy a new brake light circuit board for about 30dollars Or 2) buy a whole new housing for about 60dollars online, it comes with new lightbulbs, connectors and circuit board. I would recommend the second option since it's easier and more foul proof.

    This was a very informative video, but a quick question- which one is the bulb for the turn signal? You showed that the top one was for the brake/tail light. Thanks

      Stacey Gallagher should be the second bulb from the top.

      Nope.. Lol.. It's the 2nd from the bottom.. I think.

    It should not happen. I have old junkets that never have this problem. I honestly think it's important to know what the reason for this happened.

      David B you are correct it should not happen. This really is the result of automakers saving money on the build with lower quality parts.

    If only we could sue Chrysler for this garbage on wheels. Nice to know my turd isn’t special. “Fixed” this 5 times. It always fails. Gotta replace the housings.

      richard noel yes the quality of the parts used on these appear to be of poor quality.

    I have a 2005 Jeep liberty and the brake lights will not work replaced bulbs, replaced switch up by break petal and still nothing. Now the brake light on the top is staying on all the time. Please help.

      @YourCarGuyDR  2 роки тому +1

      It sounds like you have two issues the switch that you replaced is likely out of adjustment causing the 3rd brake light to stay on. The other lights need to be checked for power and ground connection. Check your fuses as well.

    • @janicediven6466

      Thank you very much. What ground connection should I try first?

    • @YourCarGuyDR
      @YourCarGuyDR  2 роки тому

      @@janicediven6466 I would check your fuses first. Then with a multimeter test for power at the tail light connector.

      Travis Stansbury no problem I haven’t had to do the left yet but it would likely make a good video.
