I never realized how Cacee completely changed the dynamic of the show. Nick and Jessica stopped interacting with each other to deal with their long term house guest who inserted herself in every single scene. Cacee sort of edged out jessica, acting like her, bickering with nick, etc. She just couldn’t find an apartment for like 6 months and had to live with her newlywed friend on a hit tv show? Convenient.
Back in the day I always hated cacee, now reading her book, cacee literally saved her life and helped her get help for her drinking. Also, looking back now, Nick didn’t like Jess, he was mean to her and cacee was a friend to her in a horrible marriage.
Read the book. She said the marriage was over before the end of season 1 and she had Cacee who worked for the label come manage her career while still working in R& D at the second biggest label at the time. She wasn’t a friend from home she was a super successful career woman and this was just for the show. Her and nick were over less than a a full year into the marriage. Her book goes into all of this. This is just editing for a reality show. It’s supposed to give off threes a company vibes.
I remember being so OBSESSED WITH Jessica’s style in this show! She had fab shoes, and then was so effortlessly chic and very cool early 2000’s. Also she was rocking the glam lounge wear before it was a thing! No WONDER her clothing line was so successful!
I just I just looked up their house and right now it’s worth over 4.5 and the kid from Malcom in the middle named Justin bought it in 2010 but they got it for like less than 1 million. It’s SO MUCH BIGGER than we knew since they were only allowed to shoot in 4 rooms of the house and outside.

A SUPER successful R&D career woman at the biggest label at the time. They brought her on the show since things were tense with Nick and she was never really her personal assistant just an liaison with the label then her road manager then her “assistant” who ran her whole career. People forget about editing. Cacee is such a good friend helping her get sober from her alcoholism. People think she changed the dynamic but she was a buffer in a good way if anything. Once her career took off nick was green with jealousy.

Nick was like half of a (let's say) famous dance or ice skating pair, where they are both integral in the beginning but the eyes always go to the female -because that's life ...hair, clothes, make-up, the figure itself, etc. just inherently design it that way fair or not , ... So, he became very very successful frankly because of Jessica which led to a lot of temptation, that any 30 year old would love to act on, but he couldn't enjoy it because he was committed to the thing that afforded him those invites to the play boy mansion and back up dancers and hot journalists and so on I don't think it had anything to do with Cacee....he wanted out but couldn't get out because then he'd go back to being really a nobody and the opportunities that he would be leaving her for would he gone ... Haha! I didn’t know that. I love that jessica talks highly of her even when I’ve heard reporters try to rope her in by saying “do you feel bad for Britney and what she’s gone through?” Jessica just says, she’s an amazing talent and is a show icon, etc. I respect her so much. 💕
