    Hi,
    I have two questions.
    The range of the cooling tower is a function of process heat load and cooling water circulation flow rate (Q=m.Cp.dT). Heat load and flow rate will decide the dT. What role the cooling tower has in controlling the dT (or range)?
    And if we know the efficiency of cooling tower, what steps we can take to improve it?

    thank you for your explanation. i have question, how was the effect of surround air humidity on cooling tower? is there any way we can calculate the cooling tower efficiency with including the effect from humidity?

      Surrounding air humidity affects cooling tower performance by influencing the rate of evaporation and heat transfer. Higher humidity reduces the rate of water evaporation and cooling, while lower humidity enhances cooling efficiency. To calculate this effect, you can use the concept of "wet-bulb temperature." This is a measure of air temperature accounting for humidity and is lower than the dry-bulb temperature (regular air temperature).
      The cooling tower's performance can be estimated using the approach of "approach to wet-bulb temperature," which is the difference between the cooling tower outlet water temperature and the wet-bulb temperature of the inlet air. A smaller approach indicates better cooling tower efficiency.
      To calculate the effect of humidity, follow these steps:
      1. Measure the dry-bulb temperature (regular air temperature) and wet-bulb temperature of the incoming air.
      2. Calculate the approach to wet-bulb temperature: Approach = Outlet Water Temperature - Wet-Bulb Temperature.
      3. Compare the calculated approach with different humidity levels to assess the impact on cooling tower efficiency.
