Look at how prevalent asking Ali is in their homes vs asking the prophet.
Let's say it was OK to ask a person for help like they do, what person in their right mind would call upon Ali when he can call upon the prophet himself? In a way, it's a good thing that this is not the case because we don't need that sort of things associated with the prophet.

I spoke to someone one and he said let's not talk about this and we should just wait for judgement day. He will be behind Ali and I will be behind Abu Bakr. Regardless of how much respect we have for the caliphs, Ali included, I hope to be behind the prophet hopefully with the caliphs. We are muslim and the prophet is whom we should all be behind of.
I get the feeling that many of them think the prophet came to just clear the path for Ali instead at times. They talk about ahlul bayt but forget whose house it is in a way.

Yes it's Ali's Quran as the recitation of Hafs from Asem was taught by Abdur-Rahman As-Sulami who was taught by Ali, so in this sense it is, he didn't mean Ali made it up, but Ali's transmission of the Quran is what we have today, so think a little and don't be shallow minded
