- In this video I share the highlights of my Ontario road trip to Temagami, Cobalt, and Haileybury.
Temagami is definitely the gateway to the North and an ideal location for exploring near-north Ontario. It's easily accessible from North Bay and offers plenty of options for camping, hiking, and exploring some lovely Ontario forests and back roads.
Cobalt is the main stop on the Silver Heritage Trail and one of the most interesting National Historic Sites in Canada. It's an old mining town with lots of well-preserved history and cool areas to explore.
Further North is Temiskaming Shores with the lovely town of Haileybury as one of its highlights. This is a great place to stop and relax while being a great location for exploring Lake Temiskaming.

I’m an American who lives in Chicago, I Had a friend who had a cabin on rib lake went up there 2 summers in the mid 70’s beautiful area, I’ve been too a lot of places in Canada since but I have to get up there again
Grew up in Haileybury. Did lots of water skiing and fishing. Awesome place to be a kid. Thanks!
Great photos, nice road trip. It would be great to see this filmed in the fall when all the maple leaves are red and orange and brighten up that landscape. Also I was looking for New Liskeard since you got Cobalt and Haileybury. Oh well maybe someone else will do that next fall. Thanks for sharing. I grew up in the Tri-Towns when Liskeard was New Liskeard and Cobalt was Cobalt and Haileybury was Haileybury not Temiskaming Shores. I thing that new name doesn't do it justice. They are all unique in their own way.
Thanks for the video!
Nicely done! As a volunteer with the Cobalt Historical Society, I appreciate all you've done!
Thanks Maggie. Can't wait to return to Cobalt!
