Beautiful dress. The dark green looks gorgeous on you.
That flower petticoat was beautiful enough to be worn by itself. I'd totally wear it everywhere for fun
The intense and eternal struggle...... Prior Attire vs. Buttons
Not a Priorattire video without a Merlin shot. We love Merlin.
Ahh, if I had hands that would permit sewing, or an endless bank account (lol) I'd so live in some of the styles you bring to us. Such gorgeous outfits.
And that colourful petticoat...that one is to die for
If Izabela were a vampire, your only hope to escape her would be if you gave her a handful of little buttons to do up, first. I don't know which I like better, the stockings or the skirt. Once again, an amazing outfit! BRAVO!!! Stay well.
Hi, in my opinion, you are the boss lady of UA-cam's historical dress corner! You are funny, knowledgeable, good narrator (in text and voice), a talented seamstress, and I love the vertical format which is of a different background in every single video, and the costumes being so colorful and combination of new and antique.
Thank you for sharing your craft!
I wore my first petticoat this week (a thrifted cotton skirt I put under my maxi skirt) and I was so happy I knew what it was for and what I was doing! I wore it with a silk shirt and cotton skirt, It kept me cool in the day and warm at night. Now I'm getting the purpose of structured underwear and I am looking forward to finding pieces that fit with my modern lifestyle.
Liked it before I watched it. Always so enjoyable! ❤
I love how Merlin poses for the camera. ❤️
I think this is my favorite period of historical fashion. This and suffragette clothes. The importance of fashion to the suffragette movement is so fascinating!
So beautiful! So glad Merlin made a cameo appearance. The collar on the bodice is to die for gorgeous and the trim on the skirt is perfection.
Love the suit. Favorite music. By the time I got dressed I would be too tired to walk.
" I feel abit naked without the blouse" she says 40 layers in hahaha loved this! so satisfying to see the whole look come together
It’s great to see even the best of sewists even safety pin their petticoats sometimes. I don’t feel too bad anymore about my own laziness.
Ah, the twirl ❤️ I love silhouette of this era, it looks so flattering. This shade of green suits you so much!
The color is amazing on you. I keep forgetting that walking skirts weren't all black or brown.
I think what like best about these videos is that not only are the garments inclusive but also that there is information about the petticoats and what the closers are and the material used for the outfit. Love the skirt and that colored cotton petticoat.
I wish I had worn an outfit like that when walking my cat on her harness. We turned heads, but wearing that awesome outfit would have stopped traffic and the dog walkers. Always a treat to watch your videos! 🙂
PS
My cat was a big girl, a 22 pounder. We should have been in Vogue 🐈
That is one of the most beautiful suits I’ve ever seen
It's funny that you mentioned vampires, because Dracula was released one year prior, in 1897! This is probably the kind of outfit that Mina Harker would have worn walking the streets of London, and not the outfit she wore in the 1992 film, which I feel is more like the second bustle period, so I think the film's costumes might be a little anachronistic. It would be like confusing 1984 with 1999.
Vampire collar!! 😂
This has become my time period of interest now, I used to adore earlier eras. I like the modest bump pad, I need one of those and the right period hat to complete my new period walking suit. I like the Edwardian era that followed, but I can't see myself enjoying the pigeon breasted tops. Wonderful video, as always.
I love the stripes on this. Especially the surprise stripes under the collar.
That collar is a power move!
Stunning……your an artist as far as your dressmaking skills and attention to detail is concerned…..I applaud you and thank you for sharing your gifted ness with us…..the beautiful ensemble makes me think of Russia and pictures of the Tsars beautiful daughters
I’m drooling all over my phone!!!! Between yr figure & the outfit which shows it to perfection....
Ahhh, I’m getting old, having recently celebrated my 65th birthday, and have been deathly ill for 2 weeks, so not at my best. You’re inspiring me, again!!!! What absolute frivolity & delight!
I love yr channel.
It’s quite chilly w snow on the ground & feeling rather brisk.
But, what’s ever so delightful..... contemplating new wardrobe accessions, whether made by oneself or indulging oneself through the agency of Fr Christmas!
On this happy note, I’m off to dream of lovely frocks & shoes.....
What a delight you are, m’dear! Keep up the magnificence, if you please!
I truly love this silhouette, as well as one from my last viewing of a young governess (?) going back home, looking very bright & cheery.
If this were a Christmas cordial, I’d buy it, right now! You definitely brighten the day. “All things bright & beautiful...”
Ma'am, your comment just made my day. It's so nice to see people being so kind and appreciative to others. Have a wonderful day!
I just had an odd realization: that silk/lace petticoat is one of my favorite petticoats that you use. I really like the smokey color and the way it drapes at the bottom~
What a stunning garment! I always love learning about all the different layers of clothing underneath the fabulous ensemble, so thank you! It was both an education for the mind and a pleasure for the eye.
I enjoyed you speaking through the video. I find that when I was reading the silent videos that by the time I had read them I would miss what you were putting on.
This was a darling outfit. I'd happily wear that in any age.
What a gorgeous outfit! I really enjoyed the petticoat at 7:15, so pretty and frilly.
I can just imagine my great great great grandmother wearing something like this! It's so pretty.
why did this fashion ever go out of style... absolutely gorgeous!
what a simple but striking design
Love the walking skirt. Flat in front and pleats at the back. And the collar is to die for. I'm not very imaginative and wouldn't have thought to put the cording on the skirt. Thank you. Now I have to start making a walking skirt with braid decoration
Love the ribbon/cording detail on the skirt. Simple and yet so effective.
Those shoes are to die for! 😍
What a gorgeous outfit. You look lovely, as does Merlin!
Love your posts! Thank you for brightening my day.
The skirt and jacket make an absolutely gorgeous set! And the little hat is just darling. Love your videos and keep up the great work
I love your videos. In addition to being very educational, they are also very aesthetically pleasing. Perhaps you can turn the mirror so that your reflection will also enter the camera? It is interesting to look at the costumes (and you in them) from all sides at the same time.
The suit is so lovely. That collar really amps it up to 11.
Funny how you always release a video during the time in which I am interested in a time period relating to that same period. Thanks!
This by far is my favorite dress you have worn. I love it so much.
Love this video. I saw someone else’s getting dressed vid on Insta the other day and exclaimed “No corset cover?!” When she proceeded to button up her bodice right over the corset - you taught me that layers are important 😂
Those stockings and shoes remind me of the wicked witch of the west's legs under the house ;-))
Why is this so ASMRish? I'm so sllepy now 🤗
I love hearing you say that your older corsets are too big! Idk, it makes me feel proud of you. You are amazing and you inspire me!
Safety pins are also my method of closure for most of my Victorian skirts and petticoats...usually since I’m finishing my projects the day of the event
I just started historical sewing about 2 years ago and it was nice to know I'm not the only one panic sewing the night before an event
What kind of events? Curious
I recognize that lovely dusky-mauve silk underskirt from several other videos! (That is the right name for the color, right?)
Thanks for another great video!
Was elastic made of different material then? I can't imagine modern elastic not completely degrading 10 years from now, much less almost 100!
Yes, now rubber is mostly synthetic and chemically modified to help it last longer.
Put on your sunday clothes when you feel down and out
Strut down the street and have your picture took...
You are the only one I have notifications on for. Thank you for sharing Izabela !!❣️
I’m crazy about the shoes from about 1890 to 1940. These are beautiful! I love the heel and evolving style. Now I want some 😂 Beautiful video as always 🥰
I don’t even have words for how much love and appreciation I have for your videos!
i like watching your videos to look at what kind of shoes and boots they wore
I think this might be my favorite dress yet of yours! The color is sumptuous, and the stripes and braid set it off perfectly.
I love how suits of this sort usually have some sort of ribbon or belt around the waist. It allows the coat and skirt to fit together in a streamlined way.
Love the colour combination. The collar is amazing
That muff! That beautiful black muff!
As always, a joy to watch! The color is exquisite, dimmed only by the brightness of your smile. (Shh! I'm fangirling.) PS- Merlin looks fabulous in his cameo!
Doesn’t he always? Everything goes with a tuxedo/dinner jacket cat.
Everything is lovely 😍 as always, but I am totally digging those stockings.💞
I’ve always wanted to dress up in old fashioned styles but think I would quickly tire of all the stifling layers. Lovely suit. How many change of clothes/outfits did women actually have back then?
Beautiful ensemble, as always! ❤
I do wish, though, that you would include the hair styling, as in some of your earlier videos. I particularly enjoyed the ones where you included the use of a hair piece to achieve the correct style.
Everyone and their aunt: Corsets were of course SUPER restrictive, you couldn't move or run or bend over or do anything at all. They cracked women's ribs and moved their organs around and was a serious health hazard. You couldn't even breathe, so women fainted all the time.
Izabela: *casually trows one foot on the side table to do up her shoe, twists around over 90° to see the hooks and bars of her bodice*
Morgan Donner puts that one to rest as well. I suspect some of the stories came about because there will always be someone who takes things to extremes, then just as now.
@@musicandbooklover-p2o See Bernadette Banner as well.
@@marianbarber7279Love her. She has incredible content.
@@musicandbooklover-p2o Yeah, I agree. And then some poor actress (or pretty much every single one who's ever been in a costume drama) was forced into a corset not made for her, nor made with the tailoring techniques ACTUALLY employed throughout history, and tightlaced beyond her life, and there you go.
Thus chivalry. When a lady dropped something, a gentleman retrieved it for her. If only we had a bit of that civility today.
For an interesting read, google ‘Rules for Gentlemen’s Behavior 1860’s’
Lovely, the detail is incredible! The stills are always so pretty!
I absolutely LOVE your videos and the detail and effort put into these beautiful outfits, thank you so much for your hard work!
Love this, I wish we could dress like this all the time now (with a few modern fastening options of course), such a lovely outfit.
Well, you can still do that!
I adore the stockings 😍
This is lovely. Beautiful suit and color combination. I need to make a walking skirt...
That collar is amazing.
This dress looks amazing on you!
Wow you've been killing it with all the looks in my very favorite eras lately
Ah yes, we love a good Merlin cameo!
This is easily one of my favorites!
To quote Fernando Lamas "you look fabulous!"
Must have gotten an early start in dressing! Lovely as usual. Thank you!
Stunning. Quite the skilled dressmaker and designer and beautiful model.
Very 1898, that Insta 😂 beautiful suit. Looooove the color 🤩 💃🏻
These dresses of yours are beautiful unfortunately with my arthritis I couldn't dress myself let alone button shoes. Green in definitely your color.
I absolutely love the 1890s and was very excited to see this video! I adore the braid on that skirt!
very nice outfit! i would suggest to add a little brooch on the collar to keep the edges together )
Thank you for sharing. I always enjoy your videos, but I especially like the walking outfit. The collar is divine xx
Your videos help me feel optimistic in these pandemic times. I hope someday I can gather with my reenactor friends again.
I love the colours on this one; such gorgeous choices. That bright underskirt is goals...
Yet another beautiful ensemble 😍👏🏻. Love how you always pick 🎼 music/composers to go with the era that you are portraying👌🏻.
Love this one! Gorgeous colours, all that braiding is spectacular. Very architectural.
What a stunning outfit! I love your videos so much. The costumes are lovely and the descriptions of what was fashionable and what was changing at the time are really helpful. That color is so pretty on you and I am glad you are speaking in your video. Sometimes I have to pause the ones with the text and you have a truly lovely voice.
Even in modern brassieres, such “asset adjustments” make a big difference!
My like is for the beautiful dress and Merlin's cameo. 🐱
I loooove that shade of green and that hat!!!
Fabulous as always. Can't wait for the ball next year
Your videos are boss !! thanks again
That collar is glorious! Beautifully, done, as usual.
That collar would punish any husband recovering from a drinking bout the night before. The whole outfit is a lovely colour and design and looks fabulous on.
Don''t know if you've ever done this before, but I'd LOVE to see you wearing these but in the sepia daguerrotype photographs that they had back then.
Such beautiful and elegant, wow! Thanx for the great vid, warm greetings!
Thank you! Your work is exquisite as always. Just a note about subs: They are out of synch when you talk about the boots -- the subs are about 30 seconds too early.
Did you change the name of your channel? Or am I just completely clueless, LOL?
Superman has kryptonite; Izabela has buttons. ;-D
