Am I really the only one who loves this game bacause of the music, scenery of the game, and the glitches? Yes, that's right, glitches, i like the glitches. I discovered the swimming in the air glitch as a kid and it honestly blew my mind lol.
Glitches are why I like the first generation of Pokémon.

I once had Spyro doing his 'falling' pose while stationary on the ground... this game was really broken!
I loved how every level was put in one big homeworld. When I was a kid I thought that was intentional. I had no idea it was because of it being rushed. It doesn’t change the fact that I still like this game.

I like this Spyro game and if it wasn't for it Spyro wouldn't continue.
We wouldn't have Spyro A Hero's Tail or Spyro Shadow Legacy either.
Not sure it was rushed, I think the were just a lot of changes at the last min.

Well it most certainly wasn’t the damn gameplay!! This game did have potential and the music is amazing! Well, it is in my opinion at least! What a shame.
I liked a majority of ETD's music.

@DeltaGem i think keep them but scrap bubble breath and allow other charging to stun them for capture (i guess make them slightly faster too, so it feels like an easier version of the egg thieves) and then most of the remaining problems are pretty minor by comparison.
ripto's always fun, maybe just introduce whoever keeps reviving him (along with gnasty gnorc according to year of the dragon's ending) as an actual character and make sure they don't get killed off so there's actually a lore reason why gnasty gnorc and ripto are alive.
It needs a complete remake from the ground up.
I agree honestly. More of like a second chance because this game was rushed. Fix the glitches and bugs and stuff. Keep the concept they have now however add more to it

I searched this because these songs are so calming and nostalgic to me, i suffered deeply from anxiety as a little kid. It makes me emotional to listen to i can remember playing this one so well, i play the trilogy but wish every day that they redid this one for the trilogy. I feel it deserved it the most.
As a kid I didn't notice all the problems with this game I still loved it as it was my first spyro, as an adult I've gone back and played the main trilogy but this one is still the most nostalgic for me personally (bugs and all)

This wasn't my first Spyro game and I definitely prefer the original trilogy to this and all the games that came after it, yet I feel more nostalgia for this game than those original 3. There's something about the atmosphere of this music that places me right back into my childhood; 7 year old me running around aimlessly, not knowing what terrible framerates are or this game's rushed development. I think it's the warm ambiance and slight emptiness to this game's environments that really compliment this music; the slightly darker, ominous interlude (at around 1:00) gives the feeling that something bad might happen later in the story, yet it never really does. This theme in particular gives off a dreamy vibe. Having a track like this be one of the first pieces you hear in the game really make me wonder what this game could've been if it wasn't rushed.
ok i'll admit that there were some sound glitches here and there but other than that I really enjoyed this game and I still do to this very day especially the music.

I love this game. As a kid I would just mess around in the game having fun. Even today I decided to boot it up and play. The music is too nostalgic, the memories in my head of playing it as a kid. I miss being a kid, I wanna cry.
ChaosWeeb Same here also this was the first Spyro game that I ever played. With the classic Spyro the dragon style of gameplay. And that was back in 2007.
Man this is one of my favorite spyro tracks Copeland is genius.... and I have to say this game despite all it's problems being rushed and all the glitches, but none the less it deserves more then is given. I know most people played this on ps2 the fps was never consistent at all but the GameCube port is actually better and if ran on wii it's even more stable almost to a point of perfect. I only wish spyro stayed this way classic design. I'm glad I consider this spyro 4
Spyro 4 is great on Gamecube, even more so than 1 and 2 in my opinion. The PS2 version is crud.
I don't get why people hate this game I think this game was fun to play and underrated
it's a shame. this game could have been so much better. i remember playing this game as a 10 year old kid when it first came out and i loved it. though, my problem with the game was the load times. i eventually sold it in 2012 to 3D Games

This game may have been awful but my goodness Stuart Copeland made an absolutely amazing soundtrack .. so glad he's back for Reignited.
This Spyro game deserves a remastered version of it too along with Spyro A Hero's Tail and Spyro Shadow Legacy and continue where it left off..

@@jadedheartsz I doubt it. He said he heard it on a show his mother watched after he played tge game. I doubt his mother watched the Amanda Show at that time since it was geared towards kids. It's possible that some of the samples used in the song were probably used elsewhere since they're license free. Just in case you didn't know, Copeland didn't actually compose a lot of the tracks for the game (he may have done this one though), he really just mixed the tracks. According to some of the composers, he actually ruined the tracks by adding in things like vocal samples.

Some of the sounds you can hear in the Spyro series are taken from sample packs and such. An example is the weird high pitch "wyyy" sound in Enchanted Towers. I found that in a Drum & Bass sample pack as a single sound.
Spyro music always had such a beautiful blend of instruments.

I can't explain to you how this makes me feel in a way that does it any justice its so beautiful and the way this set the vibe for that home world makes me so happy and nostalgic + reminds me of the Ice caverns from another spyro
I love this game it a shame that they never finish it truly.. We were support to enter the castle after we beat Riptoe and it ends the game there with him beaten and the game freezes... It's very disappointing. 😔 I remember trying to enter the castle thinking I was doing something wrong even ask other opinions with the book mentioning it, sigh good times. But I still play it today along with the other originals, those were true treasure.

Glad someone else pointed that out, but the sample is actually something in a certain pack. Because it's been heard elsewhere and is fairly common. LSD would have taken it from the same place Copeland did.

This was my first Spyro game I ever played I had this on Gamecube remember when it first came out. This was a good game but it was rushed in development and should never been rushed for Christmas release of 2002. They should of taken there time too much was cut from this game along with Twinsanity.

I loved this game. The only glitch I ever received was one I could fix by just leaving the level. I need to play this again real soon, definitely. Nostalgia will definitely hit me like a rock in the head, but I won't care. I'm going after this game now!

Chad Daddy No it wouldn't. Faster load times, more levels, less glitches etc. This game had so much potential, but then Universal had to be a jerkwad & give the development teams a deadline.

It's a problem in general, but the core of the issue was the amateur development team that had no real experience before Spyro and the fact that the two teams working on it had been completely uncoordinated the whole time. Fuck, one of the developers was surprised the game was even being released with how unfinished it was.
It had no potential. It was potential-less.
Spyro was my 1st ps1 game and my 1st ps2 game. Greatest game series ever! they need to bring them back!!. The first 4 were the best

One of my favorite games from my childhood, hands down. This game has offered a world of nostagia to me, and i will forever love the game for what it offers and for what it tried to do. To this day im still coming back here and there to listen to this game's OST. The game may not have been great to most people, but to me, it was something more. 🫶

I wouldn't say that he's overrated as a Skylanders character seeing that he's barely in the games these days.
The original three games are still my very favorite, but the soundtracks? They're always epic. To think the drummer for The Police was such a boss when it came to music! :P

some of the soundtracks give me a bad nostalgic feeling, not just because the game sucked. like, just the music alone made me feel depressed while playing this game. it's hard to explain; the music just never felt "happy" to me. but it didn't help that the game was super different and _weird_ in general. i know people will disagree, it's just my opinion

man i’m holding out for a spyro 4 and while it wouldn’t be my first wish, i’d even be happy if 4 turned out to be an overhaul/remake of this game. it would be nice to have a polished and complete product, maybe just remove redundant ripto as a villain.

I remember getting hyped when my cousin's sister bought the game but as I played it, those loading times were quite the bore, and me and my cousin would not sit around watching a loading screen that long. Also the Glitches! Some were fun and not so fun.

@@grogg4372 to correct this further, it's two Balalaika samples from the sample pack "Sounds Good - New World Order Journey 2" from the mid 90's, I found them years back for the ETD sample collection project. Same source where the Cow Abduction Gamelan and unused pre copeland track Subtle Message's vocals are also from.
They should remade this to add the lost stuff. This got potential to be good but it rushed big time too bad I like this.

Sample packs. I found out this weekend that most of Copeland's electronic drumming are loops from a sample pack called "Distorted Reality". It also included all the Spyro 2 homeworld chords and everything. Chances are that the whole Mass Effect sounds and Mid Flute sounds are from the same sample pack.
