Always fun to see the daily drivers out pulling the sled. Last 2 times I did that with my old 1972 F250 I took first over the local daily drivers. I run it as I drive it daily. Some if the boys tried to make some special mods just for the pull and still lost. That’s why I have not done it in a few years no real local compilation
@@dodgeguyz the half ton ttb is basically a dana 44.. weak points besides a regular d44 is the tie rods as you saw, and the pivot like on all ttbs... the 3/4 tons, and one ton 4x4s 80-85 got the dana 50 ttb, which is a bastardized dana 60 and a dana 44.. essentially a dana 60 housing with a 44 ring and pinion.. Best option if you have a half ton, un bolt that ttb, roll in an 05+ coil front, very little work to use them.. easiest for the 3/4 tons or early one tons is find either a kingpin or ball joint dana 60, both are awesome, and they 99.9% bolt in
People are brave to put old trucks to the test in 2022 with all the parts shortages going on. So many companies feeling the strain are not making old truck parts anymore. This was fun to watch and I’d like to compete in one someday!

And go back passed the mid 90s and most 3/4 and 1tons were gas power alot were big blocks. Diesel was out of corse but not alot bought them. They were no where close to modern diesel pickups.

The guy lifted his truck but didn't use a dropped pitman arm, putting the tie rod and drag link on a bad angle and forward torque bent the shit out of them. It was most likely a little squirrely on the street even before that. Lift it the right way or leave it the fuck alone.
This is what gas truck classes used to be around here in Indiana. Now nobody pulls street stuff gas or diesel. Work stock classes used to be 20 plus trucks now your lucky to get 3
It is like this, there is such a supply issue with auto parts in general. Not to mention these parts aren't made here in America anymore since the older companies have shut their doors here. Then you have to rely on Chinese reliability. I bet they could mess up a chinesium sled weight...

There's actually quite a bit of shit you can do to the 300. I had a '76 F150 and it had an Offenhauser manifold and 4bbl, upgraded ignition, hogged out exhaust manifold for bigger exhaust system. It kept up with all my buddies V8s. Even with 33" tires. Power Nation did a sick build on one, check it out.

I had a friend that did that once, he'd done a bunch of pulls with his hopped up cummins and was convinced it was tough enough with a 100% stock transmission, he got about 75 feet before he had 3 neutrals and reverse was going forwards 😅

i thought this was a commercial for FORD until. the 2 out of 3 CHEVYS outpulled most of the Fords. IMO chevy would be the easiest truck to build. parts are more interchangeable and IMO more available to make something for a strong contender.
The white bullnose with the raked stance and especially that blue dentside held their own against those squarebody Chevy's pretty good. The rest of the Fords got stomped though lol
They did. However, Seeing those old Chev squares makes me miss Grandpa's 74 C10. 350sbc, 4 on the floor with Granny low. That truck would pull a heavy camper like nothing was behind it. It was overall a fun rig.

Hell yeah..obs fords are the best..people that have never owned or worked a 302 or 351 really don't know how capable they are.. and don't believe the power ratings ford puts out there notorious for putting out lower figures then what there motors actually produce.. hell I've out towed many 360 dodge magnums and Chevy 350s with a little 5.0 302 in an f150.. and there some hard to kill engines..keep oil and a good tune up and they will run forever..

just me or is the 4wd not working properly on the old Ford trucks?
Factory open differentials in the front so they turn in 4x4. Looked like many of the Chevy guys locked or welded their front diffs.
