Hi there! Would you use the resin after engraving or are you asking if the Glowforge can engrave on customized resin? Just making sure I get the question correct!
Hello. Thank you so much for this great video. i want to ask that: i use paper stickers on acrylic keychains. Can i use uv resine only to protect them on coat?
Hi there! Yes, you can use UV Resin on the keychain but we recommend sealing them with decoupage glue before the resin to prevent the resin from soaking in or staining the sticker.
Hey there! To be honest, if you have time to leave them in direct sunlight, you will get amazing results. But for a UV lamp, the higher the wattage, the less time you will need to cure and you will have more consistent results. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I have a mermaid tail that I take Into the pool for swimming, it has 5,000 plastic scales, I want them to be shinier, can I just paint on some resin??? Will it stick to plastic? Waterproof?
Good question! Resin can be an option for you. One problem is that resin is self-leveling, so I'm afraid that it would "slide" off the shape of the mermaid scales and pool around the sides. You can certainly try UV resin as it cures faster under a UV lamp, but I'd hate to risk ruining your keychain if the resin doesn't work well. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey there! Would you mind sharing a little more abou the process? It sounds like they aren't in the best drying condition. Could it be the temp or humidity? Too much resin?
@@DesignBundles I use the silicone molds. I pour the uv resin in the little cup i add some glitter not a lot. Stir it then pour into mold. Hey Jim, sometimes they do but not as often as 2-part epoxy it seems, or maybe it's the brand. You can heat it to pop the bubbles, and some also use a very light alcohol spritz. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey Rosi, I'm not as up to date on protective equipment for UV resin, but from what I hear for regular 2-part epoxy, you want a face mask that will filter out organic vapors. Can I still use the resin if I engrave with my glowforge?? Would it still look good ? Or would the resin look weird in the engraving ?
Hi there! Would you use the resin after engraving or are you asking if the Glowforge can engrave on customized resin? Just making sure I get the question correct!
@@DesignBundles I would engrave on the acrylic and then pour the resin on top of the engraved acrylic keychain. 😊
I think that sounds like it could work! If you have the materials it can't hurt to try! 😄 It's always fun to try something new!
How many ml's of resin are you using for the glitter backing? I am an epoxy person so used to measuring! lol
Thank you
what is the best UV lamp to use? My UV resin is NOT getting hard ... ,, PLEASE HELP
Hey there! To be honest, if you have time to leave them in direct sunlight, you will get amazing results. But for a UV lamp, the higher the wattage, the less time you will need to cure and you will have more consistent results. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hello! Where can I have the link to the rainbow paper you used please? Love it and love the video, thanks so much!
Hi Kristi! The patterned vinyl can be found here: www.143vinyl.com/printed-pattern-vinyl-12-x-12-sheets/
u didnt say
how long to leave the light on it
I have a mermaid tail that I take Into the pool for swimming, it has 5,000 plastic scales, I want them to be shinier, can I just paint on some resin??? Will it stick to plastic? Waterproof?
Good question! Resin can be an option for you. One problem is that resin is self-leveling, so I'm afraid that it would "slide" off the shape of the mermaid scales and pool around the sides. You can certainly try UV resin as it cures faster under a UV lamp, but I'd hate to risk ruining your keychain if the resin doesn't work well. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Im curious as to why my pieces end up being sticky.
Hit it with the UV lamp that came with the resin 90 secs then 30 sec from underneath. Wait an hour unmold and the next day it’s so tacky and soft. If it’s hard it sticky
Where can I find the SVG for the letter love it thanks
Does the resin have to be sanded after it's been cured?
No sanding is required 🙂
What's the svg for the letters ? Love that layers.
Does UV resin have bubbles? If so, can you burn them out with a flame like other resins?
Hey Jim, sometimes they do but not as often as 2-part epoxy it seems, or maybe it's the brand. You can heat it to pop the bubbles, and some also use a very light alcohol spritz. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles
Thanks Becky. I will try that.
Does anyone know the name of the font for the letter B?
As a beginner I know to get supplies ready..... what type of mask/ventilator do I need for these small crafts?
Hey Rosi, I'm not as up to date on protective equipment for UV resin, but from what I hear for regular 2-part epoxy, you want a face mask that will filter out organic vapors. I would probably check out a few of the Tumbler or Epoxy Facebook groups, those ladies are crazy knowledgeable about the gear you need. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Tru it’s only 2 part that need safety stuff
I have question how do you prevent your uv resin from cracking. Because I put uv resin over my phone case
UV Resin works best on surfaces that won't bend or give. The acrylic is a very hard surface, so it works very well. I think most phone cases have at least a little give to them, which may result in cracking. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Does it have a strong order?
It's not a strong odor, however all resin does have some type of smell to it. - Brittany
What brand of uv resin did you use?
Hey Stephanie! This is just a brand I found on Amazon, I'll link you below. Hope this helps! ---Becky

Hiii sis that uv resin your are using uv Hard or soft???? And one thing can I use uv resin for my clay charms for giving a clear coting instead of using varnish????
Plz help me
I'm pretty sure it could work since it's a pretty hard surface however I think polyacrylic or polyurethane might work better for what you're looking for.
What resin are you using? The one I'm using is still sticky after it's finished curing. Like a residue. Is there something I can use to clean these off?
When this happens to me, I set the project in direct sunlight for a bit and it usually hardens right up. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles awesome thank you~ 💗
What is the UV light for
Hi there! The UV light dries the resin! - Dawn
What kind of lamp do you use for resine? Is it an specific one or is the same that the people use for nails? Thanks.
It is the same one used for nails, a UV lamp. Try to purchase one that is at least 45 watts or higher. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles do you know the name brand? I’m looking for one that shape but they are all under 12watts
What kind of vinyl is it
The vinyl is just permanent vinyl. 😊
Do you have a link to the uv lamp you got?
Hey Shelby! Unfortunately my exact lamp from Amazon isn't available anymore, BUT I'm happy to report that any lamp will work, just check out the ones that are 48 watts and higher. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles I found the one you used but it is only a 24w - will that be okay - I like the stand for yours - better than the curved one for nails.
With adding glitter to the resin, is it bumpy after it's cured?
Hey Brandi, not as long as you use the extra fine glitter. Hope this helps! ---Becky
What resin do you use? Does it have to be used with an epoxy or just the resin?
Hey Patty! The UV Resin I used in this video is from Amazon, I'll link it for you below. UV Resin is ued on it's own in place of 2-part epoxy, no need to combine the two. Hope this helps! ---Becky

Does it smell? Do you have to use PPE?
I personally don't use PPE with the UV resin, but I am a little suspicious after using two-part epoxy and learning of the harmful side effects. It's always best to research the brand you use and use caution when needed. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Really cute! Love the tutorial
Glad you loved it! :)
I’m making a stain glass door for my dollhouse and I’m getting cracks after a few hours
What am I doing wrong ?
Hey Cindy! Sorry to hear about your troubles, I haven't personally had any cracks before. What surface are you applying your UV Resin to? ---Becky

Where do you get your acrylic blanks? I have 2 inch but I feel like that’s a little on the small side
Hello Amanda!
You can find them on Etsy! 😊
@@DesignBundles thank you ☺️
I’ve tried UV resin a couple times now, and each time, I let it sit for 24 hours before touching, then I run my finger across it and it leaves a finger smudge. Any suggestions on what I’m doing wrong? Or how I can solve it?
Hey Terri, it may not get enough UV rays from the lamp. If this happens to me, I set them in direct sunlight for a few hours. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hello! I don’t have a light like yours to dry up my resin- would my own lamp at home work the same way or even leave it outside by the sunlight work? I have never used resin before and I am trying to learn how to use it for my next video :) The only other light I really have is a black light flashlight lol-
You can definitely use direct sunlight, it works great, it just takes a little longer. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles thank you so so much! I really appreciate it and this helps a lot, thank you so so much!
How many watts is your UV lamp?
Hey Toni, I believe the recommended strength is 48 watts or higher. Hope this helps! ---Becky
My UV resin is pretty thick coming out the bottle, a lot thicker than what yours looks like. What can be the issue? Is that not unusual?
Hey Katika! I've only had this issue when I let my bottle sit for too long. UV Resin has a relatively short shelf life compared to other crafting materials. If this is a new bottle, I would check with the manufacturer. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Try warming the bottle up in a lil hot water "bath" to make it thinner 😁 also helps to get rid of bubbles 😉❤️
