Top class, one of the best tower models i've seen, thanks for sharing

Amazing model... thank you for sharing some settings you used... would you be willing to share additional settings used in "Build Mesh" step (i.e. Quality, face count, depth filtering, etc)?

This is truly helpful and motivational. I've been trying a lot to get good, clean models. Metashape does a pretty good job compared to the others.
Thank you for posting some of your specific settings and steps. Can I ask what your mesh building settings were, and any other settings you used?
Thanks again and I look forward to seeing more like this!

We need more info. I did about 600 photos today. I would rate my model about 5/10 while I give yours a 9/10. Please share more info, especially you angles. Thanks.

I think I could get 9.7 maybe now.... my process has improved I need to make another better video. Angles I mentioned below- mostly shot at zero. I do nadir up top with gradual angles moving away from center, and then at each cell sector do 3 additional loops- above, center and below. Also I shoot pretty close. I keep sensors on beeping like crazy but it gives me distance readings the whole way. I think I keep about 10ft distance from the tower. More pictures are better than less in general but redundant pics are no good the robot likes different angles.

@@ariseaerial Thank you. I took notes from your angles and thought so. I did a new one yesterday and im upgrading myself to 8.1 after watching your video. I have the wires and everything now, the textures are a little bumpy on mine, but your videos are a great help!

Do you fly the whole mission manually? Do you take just one photo in Nadir directly above, then start the rest of your angled shots? This is honestly the best 3D cell tower I’ve ever seen I’d give you more like a 9.9. Is Metashape the best software for processing? I currently have drone deploy but not really getting good results, might be my workflow though. I combine manuals with DD and POI in DJI with M3E.

Hello mate, could you share the photo dataset so I try to rebuild the tower with the latest Metashape Pro ? Very compliments!

What drone do u use please ?

For this I used the Phantom 4 Pro v2. With the mechanical shutter it's still probably the cheapest best option for photogrammetry if you can find batteries. Now I used a Mavic 3E

How did you get this model so CLEAN? I'm using $4k dollar 3D software and I still get blurry garbage in spots.

Yea it's tricky it took me a while to figure it out. After 6 attempts at this tower I finally got good results. Part of it is the capture and part of it is the software settings...
I ended up shooting manually- 9 columns top to bottom estimating 80% overlap. I shot nadir at the very top over a small square straight down, then 3 circles over the top pointing towards center gradually changing gimbal angle until I was level. Then a few more circles until I was below the cell sectors and I angled up for one more circle. I circled the bottom of the tower and site shooting about 45 degrees, then ground level straight on from different angles.
      Metashape details:
      1093 photos.
      995 aligned
Accuracy: medium (which I was surprised when I checked I normally use high)
      Generic preselection
      80,000 Key point limit
      8,000 Tie point limit
After aligning photos I clean up under model-gradual selection-reprojection error and delete anything over level .4
Then I go straight to create mesh. You get a much cleaner model than building dense cloud for whatever reason the algorithm is better.
Then go back to model-gradual selection- connected component size and delete the small scrappy stuff.
If you're not using Metashape this probably makes little sense, but if you are then it should be helpful

@@ariseaerial Are you saying 0 degree straight angle or most of this? I do see the photos in the video showing that. Please advise Metashape God.

@@JustinTimeForAdventures My process has changed and improved mega since this video, but I shoot most of the tower at zero degrees doing columns in rows up and down. At the cell sectors I do a couple loops circling around- one at zero degree center, one slightly below pointing upwards (battling the sky blowout) and another slightly above pointing downward. Then up top above the tower I do a about 3 circles starting with 90 degrees and as I move outward I angle gimbal upward
