Joost Klein has been disqualified ahead of his performance at the grand final tonight. I want to let everyone know that I stand with Joost Klein and against the EBU.
Regardless of what Joost may have done, the fact is the Israeli delegation and journalists have been harassing and making death threats publicly all week towards artists and journalists. It goes against the values of the contest and them disqualifying the Netherlands while blatantly ignoring the actions of Israel is incomprehensible.
Shoutout Joost, you made us all proud. This is not the end this is just the beginning and I along with so many others will be a fan for life! We love you! 💙
Not my original comment, and I don't know whos it is as it was shared to me without that information, but this sums it up so well:
"We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards inappropriate behaviour at our event and are committed to providing a safe and secure working environment for all staff at the Contest. In light of this, Joost Klein’s behaviour towards a team member is deemed in breach of Contest rules.
Inappropriate behaviour such as a country being investigated by the International Criminal Court following accusations and evidence of war crimes and crimes against humanity but still being allowed to participate?"
Disqualifying Joost and letting Israel participate while trying ever so hard to suppress all protests against the active genocide Israel is doing at the very same time this event is going on.. What a load of bullshit. Ebu is so bloody hypocritical.

BUT what about providing a safe and secure working environment for the artists?!!! Joost had asked not to be filmed right after his performance and there was an agreement that they wouldn't but this woman ignored that agreement and was filming him. He asked her a few times not to film him but she ignored his wishes. And then when he reacted to her invading his personal space he is the one who is blamed for all of it? That's rubbish!!

I was shocked to know Joost had been disqualified, plus the reason is not clear, but it came out he didn't harass anyone🤷🏻♀️ mostly the opposite, the journalist tried to interview him though he said NO many times... I understand what you said about the EURO he only sings. But the backing vocals also dont sing the papapa. Its just an EDM sound that sounds like the word PA. That is why he only sings EURO. Btw, love your reaction :)
Really appreciate your reaction, you hit the nail on the head. In the chorus he has to sing "euro" because the vocals have to be live. The papapa part is a vocal sample produced like an instrument which I thought was a very smart thing to do.
Omg I love how you also support him. I love how you also dare to speak up about the Israeli delegation’s harassment and intimidation to multiple artists and other crew backstage and them literally breaking the rules which Eurovision tweeted out right before the contest started. ABSURD how Joost did get DQ because he stood up for his own privacy by basically doing nothing wrong, after getting harassed by a photographer who wasn’t allowed to be there and wasn’t allowed to take his pictures and refused to stop after she was asked to, multiple times. Also suspiciously refused to get in contact with the dutch broadcaster or Joost, even though the EBU, as employer, is supposed to make her get in contact with them.

It was a second place just after Luna, and most of Polish people wanted Justyna to represent us instead of Luna but ofc no one is listening to us and they picked Luna. Also, sorry if this question sounds weird, but do you think your knowledge about drag / participation in drag and it's culture made you better at, like, analyzing performances, especially theatrical ones like Joost's? Im not too knowledged about USAmerican drag culture and am sure that it differs from Dutch culture, but i am curious, cause i know a lot of drag performance/art is not just 'woo glitter' like many outsiders think it is
Yes I definitely think so! I definitely think doing drag has allowed me to look at performances and visuals in a different light compared to other reactors because conceptional thought provoking performances are very common in the drag world!

Joost has been disqualified hours before his performance in the finals. Read the official statement here from The Netherlands broadcaster Avrotros:
Statement in English
We have taken note of the disqualification by the EBU. AVROTROS finds the disqualification disproportionate and is shocked by the decision. We deeply regret this.
An incident occurred after last Thursday's performance. Against clearly made agreements, Joost was filmed when he had just gotten off stage and had to rush to the greenroom. At that moment, Joost repeatedly indicated that he did not want to be filmed. This wasn’t respected. This led to a threatening movement from Joost towards the camera. Joost did not touch the camera woman. This incident was reported, followed by an investigation by the EBU and police.
Yesterday and today we consulted extensively with the EBU and proposed several solutions. Nevertheless, the EBU has still decided to disqualify Joost Klein. AVROTROS finds the penalty very heavy and disproportionate. We stand for good manners -let there be no misunderstanding about that- but in our view, an exclusion order is not proportional to this incident.
We are very disappointed and upset for the millions of fans who were so excited for tonight. What Joost brought to the Netherlands and Europe shouldn’t have ended this way.

EBU doesn’t make money from your votes, it goes to each countries broadcaster. EBU makes money from fees that the broadcaster pays and I doubt that not voting would change anything as the most broadcasters will be still participating. The broadcasters also get money from ads so you are not really boycotting by not voting
The EBU DOES make money from your votes! Every country gives a different percentage to their broadcaster and to the EBU, some give 100% to their broadcaster and some (like the rest of the world vote is 100% to the EBU)

i just think it's so unprofessional to go on such a big stage and not be able to sing your own song. There are people training in treadmills while singing so they can keep up with the performance and he couldnt even sing "pa pa pa pa"?
It’s a song contest, not a singing contest. He’s not singing that part in the studio track either, it’s sampled
It was never singing in the first place though, it's just a 'pa' put on a keyboard. If he would've sung it for the music video, he would be forced by ebu rules to do it live aswell.
