I want to thank Adele for this song. This song somehow found its way into my life at the most perfect time. I was going after a woman who really wasn't the one. She had her own life that she was trying to live, a life that did not coincide with mine. I do not believe she cared for who I was, nor saw who exactly I was. Little did I know, after I stopped pursuing this woman, some other amazing person stepped into my life and has truly blessed me. She loves me unconditionally and I connect so much with her.
I gave up instead of chasing pavements, and found myself on the horizon. To everyone, always remember to leave those toxic pursuits. There will always be something better beyond. You may not see it at the time, but you must trust that everything will be ok.

The story behind this song is amazing though :) She was just thrown out by her ex boyfriend, and while running down the street, the lyrics just came to her and she recorded it on her phone right then and there.
She didn't get thrown out by her ex. She got thrown out of a bar after punching her ex in the face because he cheated on her. It was then she sang and wrote some of the song walking back home.

My introduction to Adele. Her greatest song in my opinion.
This was the 1st song I ever heard from Adele and it was so beautiful to me as a kid and I'm glad it still feels that way now.
Baby faced Adele with the big voice had no idea that her next album, 21, would be the one to catapult her to international stardom, sell more copies any other album in the 21st century and cement her as one of the most acclaimed singers in the history of music.

This is my favourite Adele song. Not her very popular ones like Hello, Easy on me, etc but this one. There is something so captivating to me about this simple song. This is my first time watching the music video. I always only heard this on Spotify. Even the music video was so wonderful. The choreography was really graceful. I always hesitated to look up the meaning of the song. If I knew the meaning, maybe I won't like it like I used to before. For now I just feel the music and it means what I want it to mean. But I have decided that I will not do that anymore. I am going to understand this from her perspective. No more putting it off.

It's just that life experience significantly heightens your value of relationships, love and loss and as someone who has been very happily married for 20 years I still find it surprising that someone of 19 (her age when she wrote this song) could absolutely NAIL the very deepest emotions in such a way. Love the way Adele makes people think about their intimate relationship. Things happen in relationships, obstacles in relationships, the cheating. Should you chase and fight for that relationship, where will it lead in the end? Should you not chase or fight and just let it go and move on!
That's one way to look at it, but I see it more as a relationship that's doomed to end but she deliberates on whether to go through with it anyway; to risk it all and have nothing at the end.
