Great review and thanks for sharing your experience with the OEX. I've been looking for a new sleep mat since my old one developed a leak on the first night of a recent week away in. Wales. Thanks again 👍🏼
It looks a good mat, I've had about 5 mats in the last 3 years I thought the Trekology UL80 was ok but noisy to sleep on plus it kept deflating during the night. So I've now moved to Unigear Camfy p3 which has been almost perfect,, but this new oex flux 7r looks the dogs B😊llocks 👍 Great vid mate... 👌
@The_Versatile_Camper What a nightmare! I had a similar thing happen with the OEX Flux 5.0. From what I've heard, Trekology have pretty good customer service. I'm sure they'd replace the UL80 if you got in touch to report it deflating during the night. The response to the Flux 7R has continued to be really positive so it's definitely the way to go! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your review i took a stab in the dark and bought one last week but haven't tried it yet so it is great to hear you to say its warm. The price/R value is fantastic and it seems an absolute bargain compared to the bigger names. Stuart.
Interesting! Thanks for the review-I hadn’t come across these before. I recently swapped my main pad for the Flextail Zero Mat (R5.6). I previously used a Big Agnes Insulated Divide Pad (R4), and while I was initially sceptical of the Flextail’s ratings due to its lower price, I actually prefer it for its lighter weight and surprisingly accurate R-value. It’s probably not as well made as the Big Agnes, but it more than compensates with its warmth and packability. With the Flux 7 boasting such a high R-value, I’ll definitely have to give it a try myself!
@knightsoutdoors I had no idea Flextail did mattresses! I'm hoping that brands like OEX will gradually have an effect on other brands and their gear, making them all a bit more affordable. The only issue with the Flux 7R at the minute seems to be finding the stock!
@@WoollymanWild Yes I did just have a quick look, they’re like hens teeth! Good price though. Yeah Flextail started making the R5 range earlier this year. I have the smaller “mummy” model and it weighs just 522g with a r value of 5.6, it’s thick as well!
R7 seems like massively overkill for UK winters. It looks a lot like the nature hike, which is 5.5 if I remember correctly and plenty warm and is about half the size, although granted a bit more expensive. I guess it's better to be warmer, but I can't imagine most people needing more than about R5 in the UK unless they're doing really extreme conditions.
@sophieisabelle3762 R7.2 is rated significantly higher than UK winters so it definitely could be seen as overkill! I think for me I just feel more comfortable knowing that there should be no way I get caught out in the cold. The price point definitely sweetens it too!
I bought this mat and have used it several times and have never been cold or uncomfortable. I tried to look for reviews, but could not find any. I doubted the R rating for such a low cost, but I am so happy! Thanks for the review as you have confirmed my thoughts. Snap one up before they sell out… 😃
I realised when editing that I forgot to mention that I had no problems with the Flux 7R slipping out from under me overnight.

i just bought one and am selling my thermorest neo air topo
My summertime mattress is also the UL80, so comfortable but still cold, Trekology really need to make an insulated version.
@@thomasowens5824 That would be fantastic! It's like sleeping on a cloud.

Overkill?? You are kidding right?
Not overkill. Much easier to push the sleeping bag down to cool off than try to get warm on a freezing night with damp ground.

@idontwantahandle12345 Spot on.
