My question is do I need to have a KNOWN external load in order to start immediately on the method of joints? i'm assuming thats the deciding factor if i can ignore external reactions or not...??

at 7:00 I solved sum of Fy first and got Fef = -287.5 (where its -300 if doing sum of Fx as shown) but why are they different??
