Nor should he. I stopped reading CT when I read this article:
"The Shocking Necessity of Racist Violence: It takes cruelty and brute force for human subjugation to work." by Christina Barland Edmondson | October 9, 2020"
I was horrified that a supposedly Christian website would publish such a thing. I can't remember if I sent this article to my (now former) church when they were jumping on the wokewagon. If I did, it made no difference.

Educators do not want you or anyone else to know the truth about MLK. They knew he could not nor would not be put on the public pedestal he has been on since his death. He was disliked by many in his day. That he was a cheat & a lying cheat on his wife & to his family is enough to keep a lid on MLK’s true story. He was his own god. He wanted glory & to be worshipped. There are many men exactly like him. My father was the same kind of man. I dare say he makes MLK look a bit angelic. But no, those who bow down, deify, glorify, lift up & worship the images of animals, birds, men & spiritual entities think it’s fine. They took Bible out of schools so they could brainwash others to believe bad behavior is good. A reckoning is awaiting them. We give thanks for that day.

I knew he never preached the risen Christ. But you can't convince most people he was not saved. I'm glad that Justin chose these two black brothers in Christ to tackle this misconception of MLK. At best MLK was a social warrior. That will not get him into heaven.

If I am not mistaken, haven't there been lots of statements from those that were in King's inner circle that confirm his infidelity? Weren't there FBI wiretap recordings as well? I understand your point, we weren't there, so how do we KNOW he engaged in adultery. Well, it seems that there is a lot of evidence would lead us to such a conclusion, right? Isn't this mentioned in the video? Did you watch the video?
I think a more pertinent question is does it matter? In the video, these three gentlemen make a case as to why King's indiscretions matter. I would think that Christian's would be mortified to discover that their local pastor is engaging in multiple affairs. I would think that such a pastor would be removed from any leadership role and his church membership called into question until he repents. King is dead, so repentance is no longer an option, and that's sad. So, what good does it do to drag all of this up? Well, first off, King was a public figure. Shouldn't people be able to discuss the moral flaws of a man that many that many confer Saint like qualities? A person many believe was a Christian Reverend, who apparently didn't believe in the resurrected Christ? If nothing else, shouldn't we speak the truth, no matter who it offends? Not to be hateful, but because it's the truth? Shouldn't we know the character of those we choose to canonize?

John MacArthur (2019): "I got a small taste of how it felt to be bullied and discriminated against in the American South in the 1960s. I spent a lot of time traveling through rural Mississippi with my good friend John Perkins, a well-known black evangelical leader, preaching the gospel in segregated black high schools. During one of those trips, as we drove down a dirt road, a local sheriff (an openly bigoted character straight out of 'In the Heat of the Night') took me into custody, held me in his jail, and accused me of disturbing the peace. He also confiscated (and kept) all my money. He ultimately released me without filing charges. I suppose he considered the money he took from me an adequate fine for doing something he disapproved of. In those days, any appeal to higher authorities would have been fruitless and possibly counterproductive. All I could do was try not to antagonize him further. I was again ministering in Mississippi with John Perkins and a group of black church leaders in April 1968 when Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in Memphis. One of the men leading our group was Charles Evers, head of the Mississippi NAACP. (His brother Medgar had been killed in 1963 by the KKK.) When news of King’s murder broke, we drove to Memphis and literally within hours after he was assassinated, we were at the Lorraine Motel, standing on the balcony where he was shot. We were also shown the place where James Earl Ray stood to fire the fatal shot. I deplore racism and all the cruelty and strife it breeds. I am convinced the only long-term solution to every brand of ethnic animus is the gospel of Jesus Christ. In Christ alone are the barriers and dividing walls between people groups broken down, the enmity abolished, and differing cultures and ethnicities bound together in one new people (Ephesians 2:14-15). The black leaders I ministered with during the civil rights movement shared that conviction."

@hnaistyping oh, come on, you know exactly what is meant by “social issues” in the context of today’s culture.
There’s a Marxist push throughout the education system, everybody can see this, to push political ideologies masked behind the term “social justice“.
The left likes to use rhetorical, gymnastics to what’s called reframing a conversation or question. They also like to redefined terms and parse it into nuance.

My challenge to you is, where were the “true” Christians during Jim Crow and Civil Rights era? Were they sitting by helplessly watching racial segregation injustice take place, waiting for God to do something that He had already given them the power to do? It’s easy to criticize MLK what’s more difficult is to find courageous leaders from that era who were not only ready, but willing and able to spearhead a movement. Where were these biblical titans when people were being lynched? Schools and society was segregated? Where were these biblical titans at the founding of the nation, that could’ve easily ensured that slavery and racism weren’t part of the United States from its beginning inception? I know MLK was a demon straight from the pits of Hell, but all of these other people who did nothing or even worse participated and perpetuated injustice should get a pass?

My dad said that society had made MLK, Jr. into an idol - and this was way back in the 1980s. I asked him what he meant, and he simply pointed out that Jesus was the one who died for our sins and so ultimately, was the one who brought healing and reconciliation not just between man and God, but man and man.
Whatever good King did was nothing in comparison, even if it was greater than what other men throughout history had achieved. He also didn’t think it was right to turn a blind eye to King’s faults, which I never learned in public school. I think the CT article shows quite plainly King is still an idol.

Wow, I found this so insightful. Thank you Minister Peters for having this conversation and sharing it with us. Thank you to Darrell & Virgil as well. I believe the pushback from many has to do with a lack of knowledge, and I include myself in that number, growing up not only in the Baptist Church, but also in my schooling even into college Martin Luther King jr. was always portrayed as a Christian. Sermon clips, that I’ve heard, I am not sure if they deliberately left out these things that he has said that clearly go against what we know as the truth of scripture or if it is more of what Darrell stated in that in a lot of black churches, because there is not expository preaching if someone heard these things coming from Martin Luther King‘s own lips would not be able to decipher what he meant(possible I had heard in youth and did not know) or even possibly overlooked it if they felt a little uneasy about it because of all the work that he had done for social justice and our people. I admit initially hearing the clip of Pastor McArthur made my heart race a little, and there was an offended initial reaction, but again it was due to a lack of knowledge, and not knowing that this was the position that Martin Luther King Jr. stood on. Though this may be a hurtful revelation to come to, I am so grateful to have understanding now. God Bless you all…may we all continue to grow and press onward in the full knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
