To be honest, I find this route to be the most legitimate. I have always had some qualms with cutting to the credits as MANY games have a menu option to view the credits. If the credit screen was ending the game then those games are kinda pointless to speedrun. I feel the end of the game happens when you complete the final challenge (even if you glitch the challenge to do so). Of course, I'm just a random passerby with an opinion that doesn't really have much value so whatever :P Oh, and I'd call this Bowser%, Peach Kiss, or Peach%. None of those are very professional names, but they get the idea across :)
natnew32 The exception being arbitrary code manipulation B) jkjk, I get what you mean. I just don't see the game as being beaten when you see the credits but rather when the final challenge has been overcome. It's a personal thing and anyone can speedrun in whatever way that they have fun :D
Actually, it was. Nintendo knew exactly how fast they could go, and is still disappointed because they have a faster route that people still haven't used.
NEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRD! Very interesting way to beat the game. Back in my day we had to beat every level, in order, before fighting the last boss! IN THE SNOW! BOTH WAYS!!
+Alden Rogers I'm sure I pretended lots of things, when I was a kid, but I can't remember pretending to beat any records. To be quite honest just beating the games was a big deal. Things like speed runs and challenges and stuff didn't really exist (neither did the internet, as we know it now).
sethbling, please continue to upload UA-cam videos. you are very intelligent, and you can do amazing things! I would love to see more Minecraft videos, you are the best!
Quite interesting how many glitches and exploits are in this game. Arbitrary code execution? That's an incredibly powerful exploit! So are you able to run any instruction or just certain ones? Also, how many instructions can you fit into the memory and have executed?
Wait a minute, there are way to many categories for this game. 1. 96 exit 2. Lunar Dragon 3. No Star World 4. Any% 5. Marathon Credits Warp 6. Credits Warp 7. Bowser% (Kill Bowser) 8. Small Only 9. No Cape That's 9 catagories for 1 game!!!
+SuperNikio2 It's a fast way of specifying which category you're talking about, and for the most part the number of exits for a category doesn't change. It has some weaknesses, though, in glitched categories like this which may skip exits to beat the game.
+SuperNikio2 The easiest ways to discern one category from another for SMW speedruns is how many exits you need to complete the category. Credits warp requires 0 exits, or 2 for the marathon version. This route requires 2 exits. A standard no wrong warp run (Playing the game normally) requires 11 exits and 100% means getting 96 exits.
Ok. So how do you get the connection between the game code and the actual game. How do you find out what you have to do in game to run the code that triggers the credits or to change the over world coordinates?
Congratulations! I was curious, how are you able to be precise enough to be on a particular pixel? Is it through a lot of practice, or does it have to do with the extra controllers, a diagram, or something else entirely? Also, welcome back, outro!
+LordZanba If you look closely at this video on HD, you can see the individual pixels, since the resolution of SMW is so low. I just have to get in the right general area, then tap a directional button as briefly as I can to try and make small adjustments. I line up the black outline of Yoshi's feet with the black bumps on the ground.
How does he always line things up pixel perfect? Even if you've memorized the exact locations, I would still think it would be tougher to line up than he makes it look.
if you're good, you can look at the game's code and find these... im amazed myself... if you havent seen it already look up pokemon yellow 0.0 speedrun
As fun as this was to watch...I have to ask, is this a valid run? Because when you were looking for the correct X - Y coordinates for Yoshi, you kept looking away to another screen was this for reference images or was it another screen with a pixel overlay depicting the said X and Y coordinates. No hate, just a question =)
this reminds me, i saw raocow get the duped yoshi glitch in some challenge romhack back in... uh. march? i was pretty excited when i saw it cos it was uploaded, like, 6 months before i saw it used for a speedrun! that got me wondering if other people had had it before, when speedrunners first noticed it, etc.. i don't actually know the answers to those, but this seemed like a pretty appropriate place to share this?
Sethbling really likes rocking in his chair
+Jonatherin Gaming you could say he "Rocks that Chair"? :P
+Sand Josieph xD
+Jonatherin Gaming i was your 100 like
+Jonatherin Gaming he was probably nervous and that was how he coped with it for the time being xD
Sinthetic Swine hahaha that was a Reddit story!
Peach - "Mario save me"
Mario - "One sec give me about 6 minutes."
Amayzinone old
Amayzinone one sec and 6 mins are two different increments of time btw
Amayzinone "Hold my beer... for 6 minutes..."
Amayzinone hahaha
You can clearly see that Mario made out with Yoshi instead of Peach she laid six eggs instead
Category should be called Bowser%
Good idea
true
CaptainMF 200th like boi
"This glitch is actually triggered by a bunch of armor stands"
+Alexander S. (AlphaAxle) haha true
+Alexander S. (AlphaAxle) "This is very easy actually, it uses only a bunch of armor stands".Ohhhh I still remember sethbling video maker.
+Pasemek I dont think armor stands were in there... Only commandblocks and redstone if i recall right
+YourNightmar3 No there weren't,but using your imagination you can hear that voice.
+YourNightmar3 And i think there were no armor stands in game.
Want to know how he did it so fast?
Well, if you hop into gamemode 3, you can see we have some armor stands going back and forth....
yes.
+The Wurst Of The Bunch xD so true
a separate pair of armour stands make his chair constantly rock back and forth.
Yes
armour stands going back and forth just like his chair..!
edit: oh wait someone already said that.
Zisteau was right. Dude only has one shirt.
+MrTDWfan It's my "world record" shirt!
+SethBling do you ever do anything other than setting world records?
+Daniel Vestøl making awesome content
+Daniel Vestøl Well, he made part of a programming language IN Minecraft.
+Flameigton Who are you replying to? Either way, the 3x3x3 average WR is pretty dank.
Here's what I could comprehend:
Blah blah blah blah blah
I glitched the hell out of it
Suddenly I'm fighting Bowser
Boom, he's dead
Mario gets Peach
corey333p I love you for this comment
I gotta write that down
Welcome back, SethBling here. Today we will be writing code, without writing code.
Of course, I'm just a random passerby with an opinion that doesn't really have much value so whatever :P
Oh, and I'd call this Bowser%, Peach Kiss, or Peach%. None of those are very professional names, but they get the idea across :)
+Bunni-chan Peach% is a Paper Mario glitch.
+Bunni-chan Agreed
+Bunni-chan lunar dragon is the most legitimate :D
natnew32 The exception being arbitrary code manipulation B) jkjk, I get what you mean.
I just don't see the game as being beaten when you see the credits but rather when the final challenge has been overcome. It's a personal thing and anyone can speedrun in whatever way that they have fun :D
he has the world record, because everyone is playing mario maker
"segfaults are for nerds" - SNES designer
Hahaha
Wait a minute, Mario has a power level... Does that mean you can set him over 9000?
+Don't Feed the Squirrels No, 255 is max.
It only goes up to 255 :(
Does that include invincibility (except for falling, squeezing and burning) like when you picked up a star? If it does, does it last?
@@SethBling what is 255? star? big mario? what is it?
you can explain the glitch and code stuff over and over again and it will still go right over my head
Well frickin' played!
Note: Totally no Yoshi was harmed during the making of this livestream.
is it crazy how saying sentences backwards creates backwards sentences saying how crazy it is
+Dennis Liu why didnt i know of this:D
+Kongo Bongo he copied it. it isn't original.
Rovi Decena
yeah but i never heard it :P
+Rovi Decena i know i started saying it before him
It doesn't
secretly seth is programming assembly. teaching us.
Wow Seth, you never cease to amaze me. I care about the record because you put a lot of thought and ingenuity into it. You are a god among gamers.
Oh wow, I've never seen Seth reply to UA-cam chat before! Must be in a good WR mood!
***** The youtube chat? I must have missed it, I guess (and i've been following him since the very, very beginning).
Angus Helldin The UA-cam comment section supported by Google+, and I have also been following him for a long time, his second year
Powerup state 6 Mario looks like he's flailing his arms wildly while he runs.
HOW do people figure this stuff out
I want to know what else people that can do this can do.
They didn't. Nintendo had this as a legit method of finishing the game. Everything in Mario games were made by design. Duh.
dxkp By using debug mode, knowing assembly and knowing how the game works
Actually, it was. Nintendo knew exactly how fast they could go, and is still disappointed because they have a faster route that people still haven't used.
dxkp EASY!! Be a loser with NO LIFE!!
He likes that chair very much
i love lamp
good! now without glitches (for the star road)
That was some pretty good commentary on this video. Keep up the good work!
I just watched this on a bus with no sound and I have no idea what's going on...
Toasted Fan Art poor ass takin the bus pshhhh
I watched this with sound and still have no idea what's going on lol
I feel like you and CGP Grey could be good friends
SethBling can do Super Mario 3 Exits in just 2 Exits!
Sethbling rescues neglected records no one else cares about and proceeds to beat them.
Awesome work as always Seth
I thought that it was 6 hours and 55 minutes o_o
+PerunaVallankumous lol
record for the longest Mario world completion
i thought it was 6 seconds and 55 milliseconds -_-
I thought it was 6 days and 55 minutes
I thought it was 6 years and 55 days
Congrats on achieving the world record!!
you upload weekly sometimes monthly yet you have 2m sub's just shows that even tho you don't do much your content is soo good that people stay for it
NEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRD!
Very interesting way to beat the game. Back in my day we had to beat every level, in order, before fighting the last boss! IN THE SNOW! BOTH WAYS!!
+leqesai you mean you weren't pretending to set a legitimate record by cheating? :)
+Alden Rogers I'm sure I pretended lots of things, when I was a kid, but I can't remember pretending to beat any records. To be quite honest just beating the games was a big deal. Things like speed runs and challenges and stuff didn't really exist (neither did the internet, as we know it now).
AND WE LIKED IT.
I was watching this stream and fell asleep in the middle of it.... missed this.
Wow seth, awesome job, good luck with other speedruns. :)
Wow congrats! I can't believe the community has figured out how to code within the game using pixel-perfect Yoshi shell spitting.
You're a madman Seth. A madman!
Holy shit Seth is a beast! :D
Glad I was there for the stream!
CONGRATULATIONS SETH!
I love Super Mario World because in the first level you can get so many lives from the red koopas it makes the game much easier
Congrats Seth!
Ah the power-uo glitch. similar to how they set up the payload for Flappy Bird.
This is amazing dude!
Great job man! You are awesome!
I would miss this run... oh well, grats Seth :)
Proud of you Sethbling :D
Now, let MarI/O beat the world record :)
IAmTheBestOf1998 That will take some generations xD
I should make a game like this just so people can explot it
Excellent, great job man :)
9 hours of figuring stuff out and then attempts, and (I'm guessing) 56 tries, WORLD RECORD~
sethbling, please continue to upload UA-cam videos. you are very intelligent, and you can do amazing things! I would love to see more Minecraft videos, you are the best!
Awesome run!
Man, what on earth was that! That's simply amazing
gratz
That thing about powerup states makes me think about acsending in super-sayen states :P
Congratulations, you won!
When you can beat the entire super mario world faster than you could run a mile
I still don't understand how someone can do this...
He does it with some armor stands
Good job man!
Quite interesting how many glitches and exploits are in this game. Arbitrary code execution? That's an incredibly powerful exploit! So are you able to run any instruction or just certain ones? Also, how many instructions can you fit into the memory and have executed?
Congratulations!
Man, your chair is taking a real beating.. :O
Nice job!
Wow, congrats!
Now do it in half an A-press.
Wow. Congrats!
Hey Seth, thanks for getting me into redstone
Wait a minute, there are way to many categories for this game.
1. 96 exit
2. Lunar Dragon
3. No Star World
4. Any%
5. Marathon Credits Warp
6. Credits Warp
7. Bowser% (Kill Bowser)
8. Small Only
9. No Cape
That's 9 catagories for 1 game!!!
why are they called "something-exit"?
+SuperNikio2 It's a fast way of specifying which category you're talking about, and for the most part the number of exits for a category doesn't change. It has some weaknesses, though, in glitched categories like this which may skip exits to beat the game.
SethBling and what's an "exit"?
+SuperNikio2 When you leave a level.
+SuperNikio2 because that's how many exits you go through to beat the game
+SuperNikio2 The easiest ways to discern one category from another for SMW speedruns is how many exits you need to complete the category. Credits warp requires 0 exits, or 2 for the marathon version. This route requires 2 exits. A standard no wrong warp run (Playing the game normally) requires 11 exits and 100% means getting 96 exits.
"the Redstone in this is actually really simple, it uses a lot of command blocks"
But before getting to know the cloud glitch, we need to talk about parallel universes.
8:02 "It's a world record in a category that no one *really* cares about."
I care about it, Seth. ;P
good job! You earned a cookie :)
we know the glich was armor stands LOL
SMW speed-runners "oh looks like someone did perfect run time to find a another game breaking glitch"
frick yeah, he did a new smw speedrun
well if you go to gamemode 3 you'll see there are a bunch of armor stands
Ok. So how do you get the connection between the game code and the actual game. How do you find out what you have to do in game to run the code that triggers the credits or to change the over world coordinates?

practise + some thousand hours of playing this game.
+LordZanba If you look closely at this video on HD, you can see the individual pixels, since the resolution of SMW is so low. I remember when Sethbling was popular
But can you do it in 0 a presses?
FABULOG b is jump also XD
Ahhh, the gold ol days when games took years to complete and there was unlimited easter eggs.
I was there! That was awesome!
But can you do this with only 0.5 A-presses?
fucking awesome, just saw the first 3 hours ish, and it didn't look that good:D good job!
damn gratz :D
How does he always line things up pixel perfect? Even if you've memorized the exact locations, I would still think it would be tougher to line up than he makes it look.
the commercial before the video was so loud and it scared me so badly ;-;
How do people find this stuff lol
+AyyDynamic by magic
if you're good, you can look at the game's code and find these... im amazed myself...
if you havent seen it already look up pokemon yellow 0.0 speedrun
+AyyDynamic Mom lets them stay in her basement without paying rent.
green you sound like a nice guy
Reads the code.
You just blew my mine...I commend you.
It took my half the video to notice this was voiced over 😂
This is just my take, but glitch-finding would take a lot of the fun out of a game.
Amazing!
#BringMegaBlocksBackSeth
Make blocks big again
this reminds me, i saw raocow get the duped yoshi glitch in some challenge romhack back in... uh. march? i was pretty excited when i saw it cos it was uploaded, like, 6 months before i saw it used for a speedrun!
that got me wondering if other people had had it before, when speedrunners first noticed it, etc.. i don't actually know the answers to those, but this seemed like a pretty appropriate place to share this?
+Kit Vitae Block duplication is one of the older known glitches in SMW. It's been around for quite a few years.
this is some ocarina of time type glitching, how the hell do people even figure this shit out????
"World record in a category that no one really cares about".... -SethBling
what a legend
Holy balls the outro's back!
+Some Random Fellow It would be a helpful
WhoThe TimeLord Gaming that would be a really good helpful
