Massive Belmo fan and so so happy for him; but you gotta feel for EJ. Last 2 frames you can’t help but see him holding back the tears and the pain was clear on his face. Classy touch from Belmo to give EJ some love in his speech.
I agree with the GOAT sentiment. EJ has been bowling like a GOAT, Simo has been crazy good and he just did something that I didn’t think was possible, running a step ladder from number 6 all the say to a title. This man is truly a legend.
15 majors, and he's still not even 40 years old, unreal, and he's won all 5 with the US Open being the last one he needed in 2020. He's at a level now that idk if anyone will ever catch him, ever.
Absolutely mind blowing. I wasn't expecting him to make it all the way through to the end. Although, he has run the ladder in the past. Talk about sheer tenacity and skill. Belmo the GOAT.
as a 1 hander im sad to see this but proud of belmo making this 2 hand style a game winner a game changer best 2 hander vs best 1 hand bowler was always going to be a fun one. well done Belmo.

@Nikita Filatov bud, no need to get defensive. I'm not talking about a 2 month stretch of success for EJ, over the past few years EJ has largely struggled on TV.
Nah, I think they based it off him being the 5th seed going into the title match. Not that he was the 6th seed when it started. Because it would confuse people only turning into the Final to have 1-4 seeds then a 6th seed.

I'm a big Belmo fan and happy that he won his 15th major. Felt bad for EJ losing though. The lane conditions were difficult and they weren't within EJ's control.
I can't believe we're gonna be watching Belmo, Simp, and EJ battling back and forth for titles for probably the next 20 years. Any one of them could end up with 60+ titles.
No doubt Belmo will end his career as the GOAT in bowling. As good as he his, it seems like his opponents seem to cave under the pressure of knowing that if they open and can't string stikes, they are pretty much done.
Simonsen has all the talent in the world, he might even have the potential to be better than Belmo. But his mental game has costed him matches in the past. He let Jason's really high strike get to him and I believe it's what made him make errors at the end.

Belmo still the best. EJ`s is an incredible talent but his problem is between the ears. Mental. I can relate. It gets hard wired in your brain and it`s there forever.
Belmo documented his struggles during qualifying rounds on his personal YT channel. He went from barely making the cutoffs to winning the tournament (and another major).
If you aren’t on the tour then you probably shouldn’t critique how they play. Just because you can average a 220 on a house shot during league doesn’t mean you can roll with the big guys like EJ
Congrats on #15 and #4! I remember when Belmo hit the tour. Everyone started to immediately cry that two handed bowling shouldn’t be allowed. I just laughed and said, who cares! Here is a person that loved bowling. He then figured out what worked best for him and then practiced many thousands of games. He wanted to be the best bowler ever and he is! No question! Doesn’t matter what decade he bowled in or what equipment or even who he went against. He would dominate them all. Never been a bowler that you could say that about. 🎳 👏 👏 👏
Funny thing is that Belmo has done this before for a major title. In the 2014 USBC Masters, he was the first 5th seed to climb the ladder and claim the title. Guess who was his opponent? EJ Tackett.
EJ, what an amazing run you are on. 3 wins in a row, and the final of the TOC. Anyone but Belmo and you win it for 4 in a row, including two majors...lol. Lets keep this awesome run going next week. It took the greatest ever to beat you. But no one can touch your gorgeous delivery! The best in bowling history by far! You are a rock star!
I love this sport! 🎳❤️ Belmo is the goat. I thought EJ Tackett was going to win every title he qualified for this year tho. Gotta be hard to wait that long to bowl
If you are a 1 seed after a week of bowling, you have 1 game to win. Most times you don't win. I would like to see a best of 3 in championship final round. Seems like it's an advantage to bowl a game or 2 before final round. Just sayin...
Jason may have had an advantage of bowling 3 games on the same lane but you are not going to beat him with 2 or 3 opens either. What if the #2 seed had beaten Jason? He would have only had 1 game bowled on that pair. Would he have had the same advantage that Jason had?
Cuz a title match is 1 game. Avg 230 means nothing if u cant show up in the big spotlight for the title match. And to put this into perspective tho, Belmo averaged almost 240 for his last 22 games including TV.
