Alright let us put this to rest. There have been a lot of people speculating on how I got double jump even though I never completed the red key room. Some of you hit the nail on the head. Once you reach the Neighbor Boss room, the game assumes that you have all abilities beforehand reaching that stage of the game. Since I haven't completed that room the game just rewards me with double jump at that point, hence why I have double jump without completing that room.

“I woke up and it was all a dream” is literally the worst ending you can ever do for a story.
Tactical Chunder extremely lazy way to finish a game
I mean, it felt like it was real.
It wasn't all a dream. He really does get kidnapped as a child, and that experience stays with him all the way to adulthood. He moves back to the same neighborhood as the kidnapping from his childhood, and he decides to take a nap. It is during that nap that he has the nightmares of the second half of the game, because then the game becomes about him overcoming his demons from the first half (where he actually got kidnapped).
Regardless, the game still sucks 1/10 would not recommend.

Zach F Never said it was a bad game because of the bad ending. I think the story is fine and serves it's purpose. The game is bad because of nonsensical puzzles, awful pacing, game breaking bugs, laughable AI, and poor level design.
You're right: I can't make a good game. Because I'm not a developer. And I'd never think of charging people money for something that I clearly can't create.
Originally thought the whole game was about breaking into the neighbor's basement, but seeing as you did that in 35 seconds and the speedrun is almost 13 minutes long, I can see that I was very wrong...

It´s buggy, the physics are odd, Neighbor´s AI was not what everyone expected. He just spams cameras and traps around the place
Aske if you have time search for Joseph anderson second chanel. There is 8hours stream where he beats the game. Watch any part where you can see his problems with game. Game is buggy, unintuintive And overall bad

I believe that this speedrun was used by taking advantage of bugs to skip certain parts and that's why it's so chaotic... like if you are at a certain place then the game think you are in the next area and you are teleported there... the most obvious example of this is with the beartrap in the corner...
The part with the beartrap was him using objects(the chair and beartrap) to glitch into the loading zone of the next area/part. Putting the objects down in a certain way displaced him far enough that the game thought he touched the loading zone, which must've been near/under the wall he was standing against. This is a common trick in a lot of games that are speedrun

Jion Jesk when he does the bear trap glitch, he is right by the main door of act three, and he uses the chair to push his body far enough into the wall to trigger the next scene
This game shouldnt have even had a story. Back when the first version of the game was released, I thought they had a good horror game going. Now its some qUiRkY mess of a story and eh gameplay, not even scary anymore, they took out the fear aspect and replaced it with "Oh but the neighbour has a sob story, feel bad for him, hes not a monster". Idk, this reminds me of what chucklefish did to starbound. They took a good game with a future for it, slapped some lame and confusing storyline over it, and basically butchered the hell out of the game losing its potential.
Nice speedrun by the way, this isnt an attack on you, its on the game. I havent seen the ending until just now and I am thouroughly disappointed in the whole "and it was all a dream" part.
Brendan Bush in my opinion, I liked the story, but i feel they should have just kept the story in the books not the game

@@necrozin8298 It's called an opinion. I thoroughly enjoy the gameplay due to the fact that breaking in is not the only thing you can do. You can also use the props in the world to make things like towers or well, forts?

Never played it or seen 90% of it before now, shit's pretty disturbing at times. Obviously it's some kind of nightmare, or reoccurring nightmare. Now that the protag has finally settled his thoughts about past events, he is moving back into his childhood home.

The core concept of the game was great - an AI that learns your tactics and entry points and every time it captures you, it strengthens against it. That's what drew people to Hello Neighbor.

It’s annoying me how people are saying this game was good at first now it’s bad they ruined it
The story was unexpected and not scary and people hate it for that
Now me I personally love the story and how it took an unexpected turn
I thought the neighbor killed someone but no something else happened
And so because all of it was different from what most expected people are hating it which is dumb in my opinion
It was meant to be a scary game, but with the story it isn't. And this game is so lazy, because of the physics (jumping like we're on the moon...), bugs and everything, but mostly the story. What could be a lazier ending than it was all a dream?
It is such an unfinished and makes-no-sense game. That's why most people hate it.
Also, about the bugs and physics, in the first alpha/beta it was acceptable, but now it is meant to be finished and still...

It was impressive , but you glitchee most of the neighbours house part and you disabled the neighbour
JELLINX 2018 That’s how speedruns work, you just beat the game as fast as possible and typically use bugs to your advantage.

Well, no not really, bc every speed runner has to go through it, so it doesn't affect your time.
True cause i did a speed run on slender the awakening in 30mins and got 9th, and the cutscenes didn't affect my time

Yea i was super hype for this game to come out when it was being shown off as pre-alpha from a couple UA-camrs but then what i thought was gonna be a creepy story mode game turned into a like kid friendly creepy alien time and space manipulation type of game xD also i presumed the bugs and glitches would've been fixed or it'd just be free considering it was being given out for free at one point i believe. They just really sold out here and put it on every console which was just a shame. I'm not a scary game player or even a 1-player gamer at all but i was sad Slenderman wasn't being played anymore since i never got to experience that with friends so i wanted another scary game to play with others for fun but this just kinda screwed me over xD
