I learned that the hard way when my marriage broke up, and when I lost my younger brother and our dad. in order to hurt over someone leaving your life, whether by break up, or death, you also have to have loved them mightily while they were here. Eve's right...mortality *is* a gift that makes you appreciate just how precious the brief spark it is in the grand scheme of things really is. I'd hate to be Eve, seeing her favorite son murdered by her first born..but at least for her, for a time, the pain, the excruciating guilt and sense of loss she must've experienced, ended when she died and got sent to the Silver City. Being created as a mate for Adam may not have been her choice, but when she came back to Earth in the modern day, it was her choice to come back...I believe seeing the madman time had turned Cain into must've been excruciating, knowing that, as a mother, this was one act she couldn't kiss and make better for him.

Lesley-Ann decided to have Maze recycle part of her own wedding vows to express Maze's devotion to Eve. That may be why it sounds like a proposal.
But in-universe, it still makes sense, I think. Maze has a fresh and raw soul. Most humans learn to moderate their feelings to appear like well-adjisted adults. Maze grew up in hell with rocks and knifes as her friends. (Hence, the latter are named.) Holding back doesn't come naturally to her. It's something she only encountered in humans. When it was her job to torture damned souls, she learned that it only came in-between her and the depths of a soul. A convenient defense when she felt that she needed to shield herself from getting hurt.
At this point in the story, she's ready to hurt as the price of loving someone. (“I don't care if you die.”) So, she lets down her defenses and out spill her unfiltered feelings. She's willing to expose her soul to Eve, knowing she could receive torture, but trusting her.
I'm probably way overthinking this. But the first bit is true.
TL;DR: Vulnerability is f***ing scary, but Maze is here for it.

I know he will..one of the reasons he released Maze from her servitude was so she could find her own happiness, be her own person. To me, that, as flawed as their relationship was, he *does* deeply care about her, and wants her to be happy. I think the same could be said about how he feels about Eve. Those two finding each other, making each other whole again, would be something he couldn't help but give a blessing to.
