Excellent teaching! I found you from watching you on today's Bible questions on hischannel. I loved this teaching about God's sovereignty. Apart from salvation, it's my favorite attribute of god!! Thank God that he's the one in control, orchestrating all the events for good for those that love him. Can you imagine if things were left up to us?! Some people hate the sovereignty because they think that makes us robots if god is in control, but I don't think that at all, and it's the greatest comfort to me that God really does have the whole world in his hands!! Not a sparrow falls unless God ordains it!! That is sooo comforting to me. I used to be such a worrier until I realized God is in control, and nothing can come to me unless God ordains it, and in that case, whatever it is, I accept it. I learned so much about God's sovereignty from hearing a local pastor going through the entire book of Job. It's unsettling at first, especially the words "have you considered my servant Job?" So very unsettling until you realize that God is good, and God is trustworthy. No matter what happens, it's for our good and for his glory. I also came to the question "should I suffer less than Jesus did?". No matter what we suffer, it doesn't compare to what is to come in our eternity. It will all be worth it. I've not suffered as much as Jesus, and I've not suffered as much as Job or Paul either, and they were way better people than I am or ever will be, so the way I look at it, no matter what heartaches I have here on earth, I am getting off easy, and so I don't complain. We aren't in heaven, we shouldn't expect this earthly life now to be anything like heaven at all.
He has mercy upon whom He will. Mercy triumphs over judgment. What counts? Only faith working through love. Thank you for seeds planted long ago. God has given increase! My best memories of San Clemente are of being with you. God has blessed! God has sovereignly redeemed!
