The Midnight Minstrels (Debroy Somers) "Sweet 16 and never been kissed" recorded 5th September 1932

Debroy Somers band as The Midnight Minstrels play "Sweet sixteen and never been kissed", with vocal by Dan Donovan. Somers' band was not noted for playing 'hot' dance numbers, but this performance gets hotter and hotter with 4 or 5 short solos in the second half. Maybe Debroy Somers felt he could alter his normal style slightly as this was to be released anonymously as 'The Midnight Minstrels'. It's a cracking performance played at a fast tempo, and has not previously been made available on You Tube.

It's a pity that Debroy Somers is always cast in a particular way - there's alot of hot stuff there too and his work with the Savoy Havana Band breaks any mould of timidity.
