One of my favorite places in the game
I sense this came back in the Diablo II Oasis :) Or is it bc of the scenery and imagery?
For some reason this zone gives me the most nostalgia out of any other. Every time I hear it I can recall really specific memories of questing there and what was happening in my life at that time. Chills me every time.
Me too. I have very specific memories tied to each zone. I can hear the music from a zone and immediately identify when I quested there first and what was going on outside of Azaroth. : )
The exact same thing happens to me, except with Nagrand and Hillsbrad Foothills.
for me its top 10 of my fav songs in wow. such a great feeling you get that's just indescribable.
same here! I can remember certain areas and quests I had to do that I
otherwise would never have though about
I was in College getting bad grades ;) had my GF of 4 years, I was 26 yrs old, me too NOSTALGIA
Iv lived in NY,NY, New Jersey, Maine, NC, and Washington state. Iv worked on farms, boats, in shops. Iv hiked and sailed all over and around America, but I must say: Being a total jobless drop out WoW addict for 1.5 years was the one of the most interesting and mind altering places I've ever been. It was like taking a 1.5 year vacation on some higher plane of existence.
Tanzz XRP The experience of dropping out hard on WoW is so unique. It's akin to dealing with severe PTSD, being an entrepreneur, being involved in a military conflict, or taking hallucinogens. There are few who know, and there are many who have no idea... until they "take the plunge". YOU ARE NOT PREPARED!!!
During Burning Crusade.. Most Nostalgia iv ever felt in my life during that period of WoW.. And vanilla also.. I miss it. BUT, when i played WoD beta at Blizzcon 2013, i felt a lil bit of Vanilla/BC vibes comin back. Not alot, but just a lil.
I believe it's the Indian flute (combined with everything else, really,) that gives it such an amazing otherworldly touch. A complete masterpiece as is the entire soundtrack of the whole game. This track in particular just makes you want to dive right into the luminescent waters of these marshes and swim with the Naga..
This zone is the reason I couldn't wait to get to Outlands. Those giant glowing mushrooms and fireflies were so exotic looking , I couldn't wait to explore it all.
This brings tears in my eyes realizing it is already 8 years ago when I started playing World of Warcraft. This game has become a part of my youth and I enjoyed every moment of it. I've stopped playing at the end of Wrath of the Lich King which is also a long time ago (mid 2010). But still I come back every now and then to listen to the this epic music and it gives me the chills and want to go back to those moment where I played with my Nephew and friends and had no worries being a 16-20 year old kid. Just felt like needing a place to express my feelings. WoW in my heart
Yeah, this, EQ, and D2 are forever ingrained in my late teens and
early twenties. I realized you don't have to look at them days like they
are so distant. Everything that has been... *always* will be
They may be re-releasing vanilla wow sometime in the future and possibly tbc too :)
I loved BC, and Zangarmarsh & Nagrand were my favorite zones I have ever leveled in.
If only it were possible to forget it all, go back in time, and do it again...
4:02 favorite soundtrack of the zone.
One thing I've never noticed before is how psychedelic it sounds.
+Ste Roberts well there is mushrooms everywhere, sounds beautiful though
When I hear this Zangarmarsh music it brings back that strong sense of wonderment I had when I first arrived there from Hellfire Penninsula ... like being completely lost then waking up in a strangely familiar and beautiful surrounding. Blows me away every time.
I remember going through some pretty hard personal struggles when BC launched. This expansion, and Zangarmarsh in particular was the perfect distraction from the chaos around me. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for WoW.
When i first came to this zone, after completing HF Peninsula i dropped my jaw
I love zangarmarsh, i have this habit to level all my alts through it...
My fav zone in the whole of Wow. i sometimes switch the music off and sit on top of a mushroom listening to the ambience, wierd animals making noises off in the distance. ahhhh takes me back to the BC days :)
Zangarmarsh must be a simply FANTASTIC place to live! I wish it was real :(
sigh every time i try to quit wow i come on youtube and listen to zone music like this, then end up getting game time the next day :(
i will play wow forever
Played through the tail end of vanilla, BC was my high point in WoW.
Been through this accursed mushroom infested swamp on far too many characters.
when i think of zangarmarsh i'm always reminded of my late night playing sessions of leveling in this zone. shortly after BC launched, i finally had to crash and get some sleep and i remember waking up at about 7 pm to continue my push to 70. id become a nocturnal wreck before classes started again
One of my all time favourite zones in WoW and video games. The place is so magical, like a dream.
dat atmosphere..if only i could quest here forever...
thank god shrooms are in general less of a fuck-up than trees in graphical sense. pure zen
Bounty hunter from space with that fresh green quality bow from Hellfire!
Greatest area in the history of video games
The Burning Crusade... Simply the best!
It's beautiful how this song is riddled with hindu-inspired instruments and rhythm, just how the Draenei are inspired by such culture~ You can see their main cities have merchants with turbans upon their heads, some buildings have small rooms with tapestry, pillows scattered around the floor and Hookahs. Oh, and how to forget both genres /dance~?
that "flute" in these songs is armenian instrument called Duduk, beautiful sound..
love BC and outland zones but my all time fav wow music is azuremyst isle, so peaceful
i have to remind myself that i did outland *years* ago. nothing compares to exploring zones for the first time...
This was the area I adored the most, second to Nagrand. The abandoned Draenei villages... The WotW-tripods... Nostalgia~
If only fungi had evolved to be this large and chemoluminescent - how beautiful that would be....
since i saw avatar, i think of it as zangarmarsh. has alot of similar characteristics. love zangar. fav place in outlands
[2006-2010] Constant WoW gameplay until a voice in my head told me not to resubscribe. So I listened; found myself in other worlds throughout the year, until next week. Then i'll have my main & Acturis crawl out of a cave to see "wth has happened to Azeroth". (lol) I enjoyed questing here and at times between heroics i still made my way out to visit Outlands like the Marsh.
great atmospheric pieces of music.
Most of my questing in the Outlands was here other than Hellfire. Very nostalgic.
It was always curious that Blizzard opted for the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj soundtrack as a template for Zangarmarsh, the only relation between the two I could find was Blacksting, a large wasp in Zangarmarsh that somewhat resembled the profile of the Silithid's of Silithus, exactly where Temple of Ahn'Qiraj resides and the Cenarion Circle that was also responsible for the Southern Gates of Ahn'Qiraj circa 2006.
The music from Zangarmash is actually music played during Ahn'qiraj events in vanilla.
Played throughout TBC and quit soon after WotLK came. I do miss WoW very much. And this music... Maybe one day again :)
My all time favorite world of warcraft area, none come close to the mystification that Zangarmarsh brough to me. Whenever I played I would just idle there if I had to wait for raids and whatnot. Fond memories!
one of my favorite places in all of wow , love this tribal music and the trippy-LSD admosphere of the place
TBC! This kind of musics, zones, expriences. I hope Blizzad wakes up and gives us a awesome and fresh new world with Titan.
yea heres the same.. sadly all say they dont listen to it.. but they really miss sth.. masterpiecelike...
Zangarmarsh is probably my most favorite zone of WoW. Thumbs up and salute to the Psychedelic Mushrooms of WoW :P
so great. the feeling is amazing if you didnt play BC you did miss out. same with vanilla, but i did miss out of vanilla sadly :( only played very late vanilla
omg is this non-vanilla wannabe. U don't get to hang wiv us vanilla boyz until u have proved your worth. weeabo.
still my most favorite place to lvl , the music had a big influence for me .
love it !
5:42 to 6:04 is my personal favourite bit :) wish it was longer.
Oh god why do i do this to myself. I've quit WoW three times and this has been my longest so far... haven't even leveled to 85 but as soon as I hear BC music something stirs inside me. I feel the need to log on and just chill in Zangarmarsh or Nagrand.
Gotta love nostalgia :(
TBC has the best music but northrend is amazing as well
It seems like the WoW music is one of the things that has been consistently high quality across all the expansions.
This was the area I hated most in Outland, even though the quests were alright, but this place made me crazy!
Best zone ever. I quit WoW almost a year ago, and I still listen to this. Might make a trial account and get some friends to summon me to Zangarmarsh on top of a mushroom, so that I can just sit and listen and absorb the ambience.
One thing I noticed before I left, the weird calls and whistles have gone from the zone. I actually miss those, dunno why Blizzard removed them.
I think i'll get myself a wow sub again just to fly here and enjoy the music
I agree with you my friend. The music's name is called "Origins" and it was affected by the Ahn'Quraj music score (just some months before TBC release). Silithus Valey is a desert and Blizard adds culture characteristics to the music scores (for exapmle, remember the Scandiavian violin music in Grizzly Hills). I always love WoW music. :)
oh the memories.....wow really was my medicine back in the days.
Zangarmarsh and stormpeaks are the best zones In the game.
I can imagine the feel man.
Hopefully you did experience the lvling as good as it was! That was half the enjoyment for me back in vanilla and BC. The exploration, the encouragement when you were able to kill a lvl 60 mob as a lvl 55. The leveling today is too much prepared. Back in Vanilla/BC you really had to wander around and find your way through. Now you just blindly follow where the one quest leads you to the other and suddenly you're there.
Keep that memory! ;)
As I look to the sky of Zangarmarsh heights....
The mysteries of lake demons and sweet water tides....
To find me craving for one last time...
Taste the quest adventure against the Ango'rosh tribe...
The time has changed ..Illidan is gone...
The angry Kil'jaeden you wont find up frond...
For it is only a dream to leave it in vain...
The Burning Crusade is where we all appertain...
By far my favorite zone in the game
It was during Burning Crusade that I first made it to the high level content. The design of the new starting zones and capital cities was amazing, and it was kind of disappointing to venture out of the Ghostlands as my Paladin and go back to what seemed like the inferior old world. That grind from 20-58 helped build up the anticipation for Outland, though, and boy... Outland just completely blew me away.
This zone is just stunning!
The moment i came here the first time i just stopped and said" Wow!..."
This is a very underestimated zome! :D
Tbh I hated this zone at first, but after awhile I grew to love it. Learning more and more about The Draenei/Kurenai lore. My ONLY regret is that I started playing WoW in late '06 and not release in '04. =x
BC has some of the best quest and music score around.
been a huge fan of the entire warcraft lore, loved both vanilla and TBC in WoW. Craving for the day they will make an epic sequal in wc4 to this amazing world..... if they''ll ever begin working on it.
LOL good point. Most game, movies and books etc...are always best in the first few and after slowly become watered down. I'm glad I was able to play during the height of Vanilla and fully immersed in BC and WoTLK
i aboslutely love the drums in this track
Personally, my favorite zone is Sholazer Basin. Its looks amazing and has great music. (:
Used to love this zone, the music 4:01 - 5:39 always reminded me of music from the film Bladerunner
Hints of Lut'Gholein and The Harem - Matt Uelmen instantly spotted.
I never noticed that zangar had bits from silithus music in it! awesome
this zone couldnt get any better!
This music is beautiful!
I LOVE THIS ZONE
Same guy that did the diablo 2 music did outland also, Matt Ulemen. No wonder they are both so great.
My favorite zone to date.
Everyone I knew in game hated Zangarmarsh. For some reason I love it. Hellfire Peninsula was so epic the first time you stepped through the Dark Portal. Us old Vanilla players were amazed. Right when you were getting tired or fighting Fel Orcs and being ganked by the Fel Reaver you were sent to the tranquil Zang. I never liked Terokkar but then you got to Nagrand and never wanted to leave again.
I loved this zone, and the music
Best music!
Best map!
Got to love the Tabla and Sitar at 1:20.
Surreal, absolutely beautiful :)
boglash aka the only elite you could take down on your own
i love zangarmash !!! this is the best of bc
i love the bell sounds
I remember just sitting on top of a mushroom just relaxing and listening to this music. then i realized half an hour had already passed ^_^
Heroes used samples from the beginning of this clip, chich are also in Silithus for their first 2 seasons.
Its like a wonderfull remix of AQ my favorite wow zone ever
So many herbs. You could kill stuff and "skin" them for herbs.
Remind me Pandora of Avatar.....Burning crusade = most beautiful landscapes; most beautiful armors skins, and of course, most beautifuls songs!!
When you think this was a sea in Draenor between Nagrand and Frostfire Ridge.
Can't wait to come back in a few months
Remind me Ferngully.
Love it.
It's the Wonderland of WoW.
I went back just for the memories to this place ... and now i just noticed it looks like "pandora" from "avatar" ... the thing is, when i came here for first time > there was no avatar yet lol :)
nice melody and best place of the game :)
i dont play wow for over a year now but< once in awhile ill hop on a freinds accnt log his druid and just fly over this zone, one of my fav zones
As a Diablo 1 and 2-player I hear Matt Uelmen in this piece. Sweet tune though. My first wow-experience began in Cataclysm.
Listening in 2023 ❤ WoW used to be such a huge part of my life: a much more innocent and energetic time. The beauty of WoW's music is unlike any other game. Doesn't matter how much time has passed, I'm immediately teleported to the time I first set foot in the colorful blue landscape of Zangermarsh and recall the same feeling of awe and wonder. It's the same for each zone in vanilla and the early expansions. Nothing can compare. I miss it.
