You got to the point in excellent time my man, a dozen in a 55 gallon, if you run for President I will vote for you, straight to the point, THANK YOU SIR
Hello my new friend, my name is Marco! Nice video and beautiful Malawi aquarium. Great mbuna, Labeothropheus, Maylandia, Melanichromis, Labidocromis, is my favorite. Nice set up with rock. I have sub 🔔 and 👍. Have a nice day. Greetings from Italy! ☺ 🙋 👍 👌 ✌
lake Malawi and lake Tanganyika have two very different water parameters how is your trophy fish so happy and content? I assume your parameters are more fitted for the mbuna?
Such a nice and beautiful active tank! I really love it! What are the species listed I cant spell some of them? I am looking at stocking options for my 55 and plan to go with 15-20. Thanks so much great tank!
I’m wondering about doing Chiclids in my “spare” 55 I just feel like it’s too small, what do you guys think? I’m putting my Zebra pleco and Snowball pleco in there for sure
Hi, i realise i’m like 3 years too late… But i have a 30G that is all set up as a community tank but i wanna change. it’s 3 foot long. I wanna get 6/8 Mbunas, Yellow Labs, Zebras, Jonannii, Saulosi, Tangerine, Pindani etc, all juveniles, and then i’m moving out soon and wanna get a 55G 4 foot tank in my new house as it will be my own and not parents so more space and then when that tank is cycled move then over and get another 10 or so mbunas like Rustys and Acei and then a few more so as to not ruin the cycle, what are your thoughts on this? think for the few months i could deal with 6/8 to see if i get on with them before spending lots of a bigger tank and such x
Thinking about setting up a 55 gallon aquarium with Mbuna fish, but have been put off by all the filters needed according to some UA-cam videos. But your tank only has the two Aquaclear filters? Is that really enough for a 55 gallon tank, or am I missing something.
I think I might have made a newbie mistake. So I cycled my tank(55gal) went to my lfs and I purchased 6 fish plan to stock more as the bio load catches up. Heres my issue. My lfs sold me the following species. 1 Rusty 2 Yellow tail acei 1 Red zebra 1 Auratus 1 Demasoni I purchased all out of the assorted tanks and believe all my fish are male. After doing research I've read horror stories of the dem and auratus. I'm experiencing my dem with some aggression around feeding times. What should I do as I want to continue to stock my tank, should I do all male tank? I would love to add yellow labs... I'm not sure if I should return the fish and try to get more any advice?
Cichlid Bros these cichlids are not juvenile. My dem and auratus are 3 to 4 inches. Unfortunately my lfs has larger fish so getting juveniles is a big hit or miss with them. I can return but not for a full exchange as their refund exchange goes down in value by the weeks you’ve had the fish. I’m wondering if I should try to keep them until I reach a full stock. The auratus so far has not shown any signs of aggression and is very submissive to the tank boss dem. Is it possible to keep them? I’m overwhelmed
Looks good bro ,a small suggestions have you thought of maybe putting some fake plants one on each end . I believe it will give your aquarium a very nice touch.
Many more benefits to a wavemaker than just current. Surface agitation to oxygenate the water, keeps waste from accumulating, and filtration runs more efficiently
Nice tank, I had mbuna for awhile in 55g long and my experience tank was just too small. They are way too territorial & aggressive fish. Imo 90g at minimum & stock heavily. Fish look great
Yeah a 55g is probably the minimum you could go, but obviously the bigger the better. We’ll likely upgrade the tank soon, which has been the plan for awhile! 👌🏻
Bk if I’ve learned anything with both South American and African cichlids is that 50% luck goes into the tank. Whether it’s 55G or 125G you’re more than likely always gonna have territory and dominance issues because that’s just how they are in nature. You have to get extremely lucky to get a 100% calm and civil cichlid tank. You could do everything right and to the letter and still you’re gonna have a good chance of having issues going in. But what can you do? They are just naturally aggressive fish in nature and that’s who they are. Can’t change nature. It’s always gonna be hit and miss. As much as I love African cichlids, they are quite the challenge. A good one at that. Beautiful fish it’s an impressive tank.
It is going to get crazy as they grow to maturity in that 55 gallon. The Maylandia Crabro "bumble bee" will get way bigger than it is now and can get very mean. The Metriaclima sp. “dolphin” manda can get very big, but is only mildly aggressive. The Acei will also get very big.
arizjones yep, 55 gallons is on the smaller end for mbuna. We actually just swapped out the mbuna tank for a predator hap tank (bigger tank) last week!
I really like the no air stone look for mbuna tanks. I just recent switched mine to a wave maker after watching this video.
Nice! I agree 👌🏻
I love the blue and gold color scheme going on in the tank with the fish and gold streaks on the rocks! 😍
💙🐠
Those fish names! Lol hard to pronounce! 💙🐠
BLUE DAMSEL 😂 I know right? Felt like we needed to spell them out to get it right. Thanks for watching!!

Fish looking super healthy
great tank and those are some beautiful looking cichlids ! you brothers have a lot of knowledge about them too. thanks for the video !

Nice tank....👍
Jack and Dan thanks!!
Beautiful cichlid tank✌👍

Is that the max I can put in there, currently running 2 filters and a large air stone?
You could probably do a few more (maybe 2-3 more) as long as you keep up with water changes 👍🏻
@@CichlidBros thank you bro #fishon
Looking good 👍👍👍👍👍👍
That tank was dope ayeee 👀😍
PRINCESS FAME thank you!!

What type of rocks are those ? Limestones

How many full grown or ciclids can I get in there
I love how open it is. The fish aren’t territorial?
CT Aquascaping they definitely are territorial, but you can rearrange your decor often to combat that, along with overstocking slightly 👌🏻
can we use normal(regular) roadside stones , the ones we find near mountains ??
If I were to collect rocks from a local landscaping for my aquarium is it safe for the fish to put it directly into my tank?
Can i put 2 blood parrots with them?
Which light did u used in this tank ??
It’s a current USA satellite plus. Really solid light 👍🏻
What kind of substrate did you use? Looks like CaribSea Eco Complete White Cichlid Sand nice set up.
Thanks! This was actually pool filter sand. Looks a lot like the cichlid sand tho 👍🏻
How do you keep the pH high enough with pool filter sand? And where did you get these rocks?
Water in my area is very hard and high PH so it’s naturally perfect for Africans. I picked up the rocks from a pond near my house
Where did you buy these rocks?
Can i have the link?
I actually just found the rocks near a local pond and grabbed a few
@@CichlidBros those are dope man. Congrats i wish I'll find the same ! Take care yourself dude
bro whats the wave maker speed used in the 55 gallon...i wanna buy one for my peacock 55 gallon..
I used the stock setting on the Hydor Koralia Pump: amzn.to/2MzQIuk
I'm doing my first african chiclid tank. I have a 4 ft 200 litre tank. What should my stocking numbers be for mbuna?

It worked for me, but I also did heavy water changes. About 50% twice per week
@@CichlidBros Is there a filter setup you would suggest that would reduce the heavy water changes?

Yeah, Auratus and Demasoni have that reputation. Would you be able to return them? If they’re aggressive now, it’ll probably continue as they grow

Thanks! Definitely thought about it. Love the natural habitat of the aquarium at the moment, but we may add a few fake plants down the line!
So this is brackish right
Nope, this is freshwater
@@CichlidBros can I keep Africans in only freshwater😁
Yep
Why would u put a wave maker in there is no current in their natural inviornment
