This trailer was to attract the Jim Carrey fans who weren’t ready for a more serious, artistic Jim Carrey performance

It's still so misleading. This movie is VERY MUCH, WORTH watching but it's absolutely NOT a fun musical romp about a guy and his girlfriend making it through against all odds like this trailer pretends.
They always do that with Kaufman stuff. the anomalisa trailer is one of the most misleading ever

Anomalisa's trailer implied it was a deep art film, and while it was deep, there was a lot more comedic elements than the trailer implied
I love this movie because it shows that as painful as our memories might be, as much as we would like to forget them, they make us who we are. You can't lose your bad memories without losing the very essence of who you are.

I read the comment and towards the end I was expecting Joel and Clementine to just decide that their relationship wasn't worth a second try based on what Joel mentioned about Clementine in the tape. So I was very prepared to bawl my eyes out but they decided to give their relationship another chance and I was so happy. The ending was perfect!

You could hire a hypnotist to do that. My ex erased all six episodes of Star Wars from the memory of a group friends and they watched the series starting with Episode 1... tons of plot holes, apparently. They never explain what Jedi but assume you know it.

Worth many watches
This trailer seems like a perfect, lighthearted movie, but there’s something deeply wrong with it that you can’t quite put your finger on. This sentiment is the message of the movie: something may seem ideal, but is really not
The trailer is amazing, just as good as the film itself. It shows how innocent and fun the idea of wiping away the bad memories you have should, in theory be. The dark reality of regret and pain are found out later, once its too late. Once youve seen the film. Masterpiece both the film and trailer.
I love that this is what was expected.
I came here coz of my faves likes this movie.

I just watched this movie. I cried and it will probably be stuck in my head for three days at least. You can relate if you had a breaking up with someone you thought shared a deep emotional bond. When you think about this movie you probably come up with colorful scenes because of Clementine’s color, it expresses she is his eternal sunshine accurately. The ending was the only consolation for me because it didn’t go like in the movie in my real life.
This is such a great depiction of the relationship of a Dismissive Avoidant with a Fearful or Anxious Preoccupied person, including the childhood trauma. Such a good movie to watch as an adult
This movie is in my top 5 ones. It rocks for the script, direction, cinematography, acting, special effects and message. I cried myself out the first time I watched it because I have thought many times to want to delete those files in my mind of a painful breakup and I thought this movie depicted my thoughts and emotions perfectly. The story of Kristen Dunst's character too is painful so yeah I love love love this movie so much. Michel Gondry is a master in making a film rock as much as he did with his music videos.

I watched this movie on a whim in college and got sent into a depression for the next week. 10/10 movie still.
I just saw it, I absolutely loved it!!! I was completely blown away. What a hell of a performance by two great actors. This film really brought out the deep side in me, it describes my struggles in life and certain things and challenges, and had such an amazing story to show a true human destiny. This inspired me big time. Mark my word this movie changed my life, watch it Mabey it'll change yours.
i watched it a few times to try and fully understand it...i only saw it as an abstract love story before. I was also only in my early 20s when i watched it the first two times so there was a lot i didnt fully understand because i wasnt as experienced in life at the time but watching it a 3rd time in my late 20s (6-7 years later) was so different and so much easier to understand because now ive experienced life more and now i can relate to more of the things that happen during the film.

I love that they cast someone like Kate Winslet in that role because it was such a departure for her at the time. She had been doing period film after period film and here she is as this larger-than-life, spunky modern character.

@@AnnaF33 It subverts romcoms in a way I have not seen done elsewhere. I'm not very into Gondry's other stuff, but this one has just the right amount of kookiness to be interesting but not jarring, and even the supporting actors deliver some stellar performances. Highly recommended.

I just saw this for the first time at my local theatre for the 20th anniversary. I didn’t watch any trailers about this movie, the only thing I knew about it was growing up as a kid and seeing the poster. As an adult all I can say is wow I’m glad I waited until now to fully understand what was going on! Amazing movie 9/10

this trailer is perfect, this is not supposed to be an aftermath, trailers are supposed to be suggestive, were you expecting one that would giveaway the whole mov ie?
Actually, the trailer is supposed to mirror the memory erasure found in the film. Sure, it seems fun and innocent at first glance. It doesn't look all too bad. it may even be enjoyable. But you find out just how painful it is later, once it's too late to turn back, which in this instance is watching the film.

A lot of people criticize this trailer for not fitting the tone of the movie. Which yeah it doesn’t but you cant really market a movie properly when it’s main selling point is Jim Carrrie is depressed over a break up. They had to bring in Carrie fans somehow.

This movie destroys you, and you should let that do it to you because its worth it
Imagine you could erase a deep loving relationship from your mind. Now imagine the possibility of doing that for someone you dearly love only to find out they’d already done that to you.
The ideal, and it is possible, is to be healed of bad memories so that they are not 100% gone, but the pain associated with them is. This can be done with some practices such as EMDR, through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), healing prayer, etc.
