I built my 50% laser for the same reason. I found a 3W 342cc engine for a steal on ebay. Its very similar to the Weslake 342. These big engines are powerhouses!
I remember doing the service in ’93 almost getting sucked in to the Viggen inlet… Could’ve been death. Nighttime excersize and very tired, I was going with the pilot ladder forgetting I hadn’t signed ”engine off” yet. My superior officer had my back, literally…
Almost got sucked into a S3 viking. Was night ops and tired. I'd turned to see what I thought was a jet turning on me, walked backwards a few steps and got tackled by a short Mexican dude. I owe him. @@pereldh5741
Beautiful. Nicely flown, especially for the conditions. It’s disappointing when these birds are flown at full throttle the whole flight like a WW2 fighter.
The camera angle distorted the prop distance , in reality it was about 2 metres away , I always check each time I go flying the prop, prop bolts and fixing of the engine to the model The model is now 26 years old so I must be doing something right ! Re taxi, ing ,WW1 aircraft with their tall undercarriages often need a man on each wingtip to steady the aircraft . On the day of filming it was a really strong wind and very gusty , if you look at the end of the video you can see the wind pushing the 120 lb backwards down the runway Happy landings
Wonderful airplane, but again to those events some annoying announcer thinks he is there so he can talk and talk all the time instead of letting people enjoy the planes and engine sounds!
Can I ask something please, it says it took two years to complete. I don't know much (obviously!) but it feels like a lot. If someone wanted to build a smaller one and simplify the construction (for example, skip the dihedral on the upper wing, or find a similar model that does not have a dihedral), wouldn't this shorten the time needed by a lot ? Are there kits that you can laser cut for such airplanes ? (in fact I am interested at 2m wingspan biplane).
This plane is beautiful and cost a small fortune, so we know you have the money for a handheld electric starter. Please get a starter. Flip starting a motor as powerful as a lawn mower is a bad idea. Remember, it is not a problem until it is. Flying this thing with one hand is going to be very difficult.

I didn't see a crash, but I didnt find the big engine in that model to be realistic sounding. Really a distraction. Sounded more like a 1930s biplane with a much more powerful engine. and stop being jealous of people with toys that are more expensive than yours. A very poor look, quite petty

This is ab-so-lut-ely what RC modelling means to me. I would so much like to be a part of such a club. Well done, it was a pleasure to watch.
Simply wonderful, thank you
Beautiful plane
Beautiful model, love these WWI planes
Great job
Very interesting and great work

Went to your page and was glad to see a video of that bird flying! Sick build man
@@hjeffcoat42 thanks!
Great Video , thx for sharing. Unfortunately some guys will never learn to avoid to "dance " around of a running prop.
I think the angle I filmed from makes it look much closer than it was but yeah, I personally would be a long way from it at all times.

Muy bueno !!! felicitaciones!!!🎉
Sounds exactly as one would imagine the real thing would sound
Sure, if the real one had a twin cylinder 2 stroke engine.
Fantastic 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Wow awesome i fly the waco but love that one
Very Excellent and beautiful creativity. Greate work 👍
Wonderful.
Almost as if it couldn't wait to get airborne.
It was quite a windy day so no surprise !
Jesus, the prop would have taken his head off had the plane lunged forward
Eh yeah, but 2 people kindly restrained it so that didn't happen 🤷♂️
Maravilloso
Superbes images, belles qualitées, très bien filmées, de belles évolutions, great! It s a smashing mobile, apologies!!
nice
👍👏

Super video !!! I invite you to Racibórz Poland next year for our RC Airshow
Great to see paint ball dog fight!!
Love the take off, or should that the way it just floats off the ground.

Thanks for confirming Ian. You've been doing this a long time so no doubt you know how to operate your large RCs safely. Appreciate the reply.
Jump starts propeller with hands; bends down with head now mere inches from it.
Not to mention his leg

I couldn’t see any ailerons……did the Nieuport not have ailerons?
Beautiful bird. Are you new to flying?
I have a big puzzle. Where is the Bernulli shape of this aircraft wings?. But it flys very well🙃
Remind me of the famous Biggles epsodes

try peanut scale. Cheaper and greater chalange to adjust and fly well on it's own.
Would that be scratch built, and if so, how do u know which engine u need?
Yeah, scratch built. Details in the video description.

Thank u!
That little guy piloting it didn't seem to be awake, I wonder if he was ok?
What's problem for taxi ?
Very windy. Difficult for it to turn just using rudder with a skid.

This plane is big enough to carry 60kg.
Ziemlich mäßige Flugfiguren dabei ausgeführt ! 🙄🧐

Tell that to Creepy Joe Biden.
How much do you charge to empty rooms at the end of a party .😂

Almost like watching attempted suicide!
nothing like being up there flying, too bad your not. standing on the ground wishing you were flying a real airplane. that must be very disappointing.
Generally, none of these aero-modellers have an aspiration to fly full size although some have had previous careers in aviation.
