Only using Chromecast Audio or Apple TV, depending on your OS. But since UA-cam sound isn't first class to start with, I'm not sure you will hear a difference.
@@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel oh, it seems not a good idea ?? I might get better sound connect pc to dac directly via USB cable. I thought there are some software can do this to stream PC audio via internet, that is sad. because I spend lots of time of watch youtube/video from PC.
Thanks for explanation of isochronous and the other, I had never clearly understood it. I still don't when my DAC is using it's own clock, really, but I do know that my Denafrips Dac does seem to have a higher quaity sound when I stream from phone vs using my actual streamer.
This years summer fashion essential Ultra fast flip flops Hans you’ve done it again thank you 🙏🏻 Seriously , great video diving into the prickly area of bridges and how USB is different to SPDIF
So if the DAC is using its own clock, which just about all do for asynchronous connection, what really is the advantage of the bridge from a clocking standpoint? Some of these bridges even allow for even more expensive external clock additions to be attached and it would seem to me it's all for nothing if the DAC is going to do its own thing.
@@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel I look forward to that. There is a lot of mystery in this question and I've yet to find someone to explain it. I even posed the question to SOtM and received a less than clear answer.
Hi Hans, is there a difference between a network bridge and a Digital to digital converter? If there is, witch one should i choose to improve my sound if i am streaming my music from a computer to a Denafrips Pontus DAC. Thank
There is no formal definition of the both. But I see the term Digital to Digital converter primarily used for devices that receive USB and/or AES3 signals, cleans them up and outputs through USB, AES3 or I²S. So no network functions. The essence of a network bridge is to 'bridge' digital outputs from the computer to the listening room over the network.
@@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel So basically all modern DACs with USB, right? Why can't they re-ask the data from the source if an error occurs (due to the jitter for example, as shown in one of your videos)? Just like a network bridge will do, if the checksum will be false.
Thank you for the great detailed review as always. I have a very rudimentary question. I stream Tidal music and my audio system consists of a MacBook computer, which is connected to the Brooklyn DAC via a USB cable. Do I need a streamer for a better sound, or am I already using a streamer somewhere in my system? I know I stream Tidal music but I don't see a physical streamer anywhere in my system. Thank you.
That depends on what network bridge and which model of Innuos you are talking about. The SOtM sMS-200Neo will not improve the sound quality when using the Innuos Zen MK3. But a Auralic Aries G2 will certainly improve the sound quality when using the Innuos Zenith.
Great video as always Hanz. What i am concerned about is the clock of the network bridge against which the bits are sended to recieving dac, is there no way to make it asynchronous ? i.e. the recieving dac clock determines it ? Is it possible via usb class 2 connection between them? That would make the audio bridge very cheap.
Brilliant ! So that means if i connect my network bridge with ethernet connection to my dac, i would assume that its my dedicated dac that have the main influence on my audio bits ? Ok, what about sending bits to network bridge Via bluetooth or wifi from my computer (input to my bridge) ? Will the network bridge clock oscillator effect the incoming bits ? ( As you suggested, the output of the bridge was taken care of by the ethernet connection from bridge to dac )
Hans, If you have a certain budget for a streamer / bridge and dac. Would a combination sound better for the same money or would you be better off separates? The advantage of a combination is short signal paths and you cut down on cables. With a separate system, it is easier to upgrade step by step in the future. Where do you think you get the most sound quality for your money?
You figures out the answer yourself, apparently. By carefully picking out separate components you might find a better combination for the same money. But you also get the inconvenience of the separates with interconnects and sometimes less stable reliability as a result.
@@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel I know you like to seek out gear that performs well for the price. Beresford Caiman SEG is a DAC/headphone amp with a fixed or variable out. I’m curious to try a network bridge in my set up which currently comprises of a MacBook (using Audirvana) connected to a DAC via USB. I’d also like to try Dirac’s room correction software. With regards to the filtering, where do you think it should be placed in the chain, before the network bridge or after or shouldn’t it matter?
The Hans Beekhuyzen Channel , yes that is one option. The other, is using Dirac as an Audirvana plugin. What I was wondering about is where is the best place for the filtering to happen, before or after a network bridge.
Another great video! I am a huge fan of your work! One question: Do I still need to use bitperfect software on the computer if I use it with a network bridge (as you recommended in another video if connection a DAC via USB)? Thanks!

Of course

Yes. Although it's not the bridge but the player software you use that outputs the signal directly to the bridge.
