"Down from heaven comes Eleven....and there's hell
to pay below!" My dad was an original 11th AB Div trooper
who fought on Leyte and Luzon in WWII. WIA on Luzon.
😂
Mine also. But was injured in retaking Corregidor Island (in Manila Bay) when a giant explosion ripped off the top of a mountain. It was called Battle of Monkey's Point...Feb '45, I think.
My grandfather was in 11th from 1943 to 1946. Good man.
Such a badass division with an amazing history
Arctic💪🏽
This is a really fun jump in Deadhorse Alaska. That clean air in the far wilderness is something to experience
All the way!!!
My Grandfather was an *11th Airborne Angel* _(127th Combat Engineers)_ glad to see this Division being recommissioned as an Arctic Division. (it also makes me suspect that war is on the horizon.) 🇺🇸
I’d love to have some of that surplus arctic weather gear!!
My father, 93, made both combat jumps in Korea with the 187th RCT, 11th Airborne Division. Cleaning up Communists in the Korean peninsula. Look at ROK now compared to DPRK.
Whoa. Didn't know they'd already reconfigured our Alaskan forces into the reconstituted 11th Airborne. This must be a part of the Army's new concept of reshaping itself to fit conditions specific to each region it operates in, rather than trying to have one, uniform structure everywhere. And, when the video points out that the 11th got rid of its Strykers and replaced them with specialized Arctic operational vehicles, that just confirmed it for me. Wonder what's going to happen in other parts of the world?
Also, I kept looking for 11th Airborne troops. All I saw were Imperial Storm Troopers. Is Emperor Palpatine in orbit above us right now?
We’ve currently got the 25th infantry “Tropic Lightning” that’s devoted to operations in the Pacific like jungles and such while 10th Mountain is doing some Arctic stuff mixed with urban combat. Pretty neat. We still need a urban focused training center(a more official one) where we need to be doing courses in Tunnel Rat and various other courses related to urban warfare as most people are concentrated in cities now.

All I have to say is dang that looks cold as all get out
Wonder how many soldiers poop themselves when paratrooper training?
When i first discovered this unit about 2 years ago, I knew that it's what I wanted to do in the army, I'm 1 and a half years away from my enlistment and I'm still headstrong about it.
@spyderbrit
I’ll see you there; I’ve got 2 years to go until I can enlist
Everyone looks so badass and miserable at the same time 😂😂
I wonder how low temperature they can withstand.I am shivering at -1°C
I was stationed at FT Wainwright, AK. It gets down to -50F. Arctic Wolves!
Автор спасибо вам !! Хорошее видео....

Why NOT call their base the North Pole though? The marines have branded themselves to Christmas so well. The Toy's for Tots, and they are always next to Santa in parades and lots of events. It just makes sense the guys who see the Northern Lights, and they patrol that area, it just sort of fits.
Nice footage of US Army Airborne troops with equipment training is Excellent, from India.
My dad and his brother were 11th abn 511 angels korea, in theater with 187th. One the few things he talked about was operation snow drop fort drum ny. December of ‘51. But they were just “ cooks” cooking up a can of whoop ass on the “ reds” Hells angels get it done.

Ok, but will the 187th be reassinged ⛩️⛩️
Left this unit just before the switch. Fuck me.
That sucks for u cuz paratrooper units get paid u could've gotten some good equipment
Will they have bolt action rifles? Because semi-auto and automatic stuff doesn't work up there.
lol no. I been in Alaska with 4/25 and now 2/11 for 4 years now. We have the same weapons the rest of the army uses
💪👍
🚁
What Height are they Jumping From ?? and What's the OutSide Temp ?
paratroopers usually jump from approximately 1250 feet. temp is probably below -20

172 was in Alaska right?
Yes, quite a few years ago. when I was stationed in Alaska it was the 172 light infantry brigade. With the 4th and 5th battalion of the 327 infantry at ft Richardson and the 6th battalion in ft Wainwrite(sp). The Charlie company for each battalion were airborne-that was 1983-85. I loved my time in Alaska. Have a lot of fond memories of Malamute DZ and kicking around the countryside of Anchorage and Alaska in general.

I just said it was first over there because I know the move to Germany because I was in n the 172 infantry in Schweinfurt ledward barracks.
And a civilian mechanic told me that unit is from Alaska I he was part of the in the 80s.
Good times I past there .
But thanks for the info.

2/11 doesn’t operate in the Arctic 1/11 does
1/501st baby, all others fall by the wayside. The prime ancestor to ALL parachute units regardless of branch. Enjoy MY footsteps.
The 503d PIB was activated a few months before the 501st. The 503d then evolved into the 504th PIB, and then 2-503d PIR, then the 2-509th PIR, then the 509th PIB, and now back to the 509th PIR. So you are incorrect, the 501st was not the first parachute unit.
