    More uk radio mocks bc why not lol
    This is the lore: by 1990, LBC plc was gaining many viewers, and so, LBC plc did more radio stations all over the world. More lore coming soon.
    LBC Radio UK (Brazil & America): LBC Radio UK launched in 1990 in Brazil and America as the first ever international UK radio station. The radio station was rebranded to LBC BR & USA in 2006.
    Liberty Sun Radio: LSR launched in the western London area on May 15th 2002 as the UK's first ever English & Brazillian-speaking radio station. In 2012, LSR rebranded as LBC West.
    LBC Classic Gold: In 2000, LBC Classic Gold launched at South East London at 12:00am at midnight. In 2008, LCG rebranded as LBC Gold to avoid any confusion.
    More radio stations coming soon.

    2:32 - This is the only time Country 1035 used TM jingles (dunno which package this package came from) until they changed to Thompson Creative. When Country 1035 rebranded to Ritz 1035, they went to JAM for their jingles.

    The Townland Radio announcer getting his meters and kilohertz in a twist. 828 meters is in the gap between Medium and Long wave.

    This series is going great so far! As usual, I gotta do my feedback.
    It appears they weren't "stealing" the jingles, they were just reusing jingle beds produced by different companies: JAMS Creative, Sue Manning, Reelworld, to name a few!
    0:45 ...and this is where GWR starts making their mess.
    1:15 They would've let the locals still call them "Jazz FM" if that was okay.
    1:38 The countdown fades into nothing.
    3:10 A radio power is born.
    3:36 LBC FM was struggling financially the year before.
    5:21 They probably did this because people thought they needed compact discs to listen to the station! (I don't think CDs existed at the time)
    5:45 That was the same issue with Downtown Radio, the station split but both stations carried the same name.
    5:55 Goodbye to a radio legend, luckily Orchard Media saved the day by launching Gemini FM!
    666 AM? Sounded spooky.
    6:49 "God bless Buzz." XD It wasn't funny for the Birminghamers but it did get a chuckle from me!
    8:07 Another day, another nationwide station.
    8:33 Classic Gold takeover again? Pesky GWR!
    And I noticed that this jingle sounds a lot like one of BBC Radio Merseyside's old jingles.
    8:41 It appears that Cheltenham can't pick a perfect name for it's station!
    8:55 GHR is now airing on this frequency.
    9:40 Looks a lot like Radio X's logo, I think XFM might be included in the next part!
    10:22 And the countdown did not fade into nothing.
    11:15 Good luck to UKRD for saving the County Sound brand from dying! That would later become 96.4 The Eagle, which would be looked upon in the next part.
    11:34 Heart begins their first ever expansion, when we get to the late 2000s, look at them now!
    12:10 So Jazz FM changed their name, and then unchanged it. How strange.
    13:44 It was the end of County Sound AM in this case, but in the next part, we will see UKRD bring it back.
    14:22 Pretty sure it was called A1 FM because it was located near the A1 (the part where the A1 is a Motorway).
    I enjoyed this, and am looking forward to 1996-1997!

      Thanks - as always - for the detailed feedback. I feel as though I have passed an exam when I get your positive comments! From now on, with the larger media groups expanding, merging, consolidating, and generally screwing (mildest expletive I could think of!) things up, it might get a bit complicated.......

      For the bit at 05:21 - Not only did CDs exist at the time, but they had already become the medium of choice for audio entertainment.

    I Have a Request, After You Completing the UK Commercial Radio Timeline, Can You Make a Timeline for BBC Radio from National and Local by 2023? Thanks

    • @tvradiotimelines
      @tvradiotimelines  2 роки тому +3

      Thanks for the suggestion. It will probably take some considerable time to finish the commercial radio timelines (I am still undecided where best to end the series!) but I will definitely add this suggestion to the growing list of ideas!

    06:57 - I always thought Birmingham, with the H pronounced, was in Alabama. (Unless, of course, we've all been mispronouncing Brum's name incorrectly).

    Radio Tay has always been broadcast from Dundee.
    Was it just a mistake that Perth is marked on the map or am I missing something, as Dundee was correctly marked on the map for Radio Tay on your "UK Commercial Radio Timeline 1980-1984" video.

    • @tvradiotimelines
      @tvradiotimelines  2 роки тому +2

      You are not missing anything and are absolutely correct.
      However, the Tay FM jingle does make a feature of the station broadcasting on "96.4 in Perth and 102.8 everywhere else" so I just decided to mix it up a little by putting the Perth transmitter on the map for a change! Technically, of course, you are spot on - the stations do indeed broadcast to Dundee and Perth (as indicated above the logos) from a Dundee base, albeit under the Bauer umbrella these days.

    • @daveybain1
      @daveybain1 2 роки тому +1

      @@tvradiotimelines I know it wouldn't be deliberate. You've clearly been very diligent. The RA awarded the local licence for West Cumbria in September '95. It was won by the company which operated CFM. They were strictly speaking separate even though there was a significant amount of programme sharing.

    • @tvradiotimelines
      @tvradiotimelines  2 роки тому +1

      @@daveybain1 Thanks again for the information: I have to be honest and say that I was not aware of the new licence.
      However, in some other areas where a new licence award has essentially resulted simply in a wider broadcast area for an existing station (perhaps with minor opt-outs), I have taken a view on whether or not to include it - purely to keep these videos reasonably short.
      If I ever redo this one, I will definitely factor your feedback in. I suspect that there may be a LOT more "controversy" as the series moves forward and the consolidation of radio groups gathers pace!
