    This is one of the best reviews that I've seen on You Tube regarding this miter saw. Very well presented on what this miter saw shines on and who might want one.

    Thank you very much for this video! I just bought a reconditioned model from Direct tools outlet for $52!! AND they have me the 18v Electroststic sprayer for FREE! You can't beat that deal lol!

    I picked up this saw off marketplace for cheap. I use a dewalt to ryobi battery adapter and it works perfectly fine. Use it for cordaround trim. I did put a 60 tooth diablo blade on it, and it cuts like butter. Beats dragging a 50ft extension cord up and down the stairs. My dewalt 5ah battery lasts all day pretty much. Good saw for the price.

      Good to hear iti s working for you and thanks for the tip on the battery adapter. I didn't know you could do that. Thanks for watching....

    So the 2A battery fully charged would be too small for this? For cutting 1x4 boards. I did 20 cuts and probably 18 I had to cut down through the board twice. Made lots of splinter too. Not sure what else would be wrong.

      Hmm, Not 100% sure on the 2.0 batteries but I just put a 1.5 in the saw and it cut fine. Maybe an issue with your battery??? Hope it works oiut for you. Thanks for watching....

    Thanks for demonstrating this. I was wondering if it can cut a 2x4 at 45° for a deck because that's my use case

      It can but just barely. I had to move the fence a fraction for it to work but that I guess is part of setting it up. If used for what it is intended to it is a good little saw...Thanks for watching and the comment....

      To be honest they make a slider now in this size both battery power and plug in. For your use case you might look there....

    I have this saw and am just getting to use it. I was wondering how to make sure the bevel is squared? I got the fence square to the blade but am not sure how to check the bevel part and can’t find my manual. Thanks!

      I just use a square to the table and the blade to checjk the bevel. Thanks for watching....

    Thanks good job reviewing this saw . I just recently bought one and for $ 119. actually got the saw and a battery jigsaw included. Haven’t even opened it yet but at least now I know how to set it up 👊

    Could this miter fit and effectively use a metal cutting blade? Need to cleanly cut some 1-3/8in diameter galvanized steel pipe and looking for the easiest way to do it

    • @jldwoodworking
      @jldwoodworking  Рік тому

      Hi Charles. My guess is it might do a few of them but I am not sure it has enough power to do that on a consistant basis. I don't really know how hard galvanized pipe is so I really am not sure on that one. Good luck if you try it. Thanks for watching....

    Nice review. I’m looking to cut firewood (split logs) that are about 18” length and 3” max diameter down to 9” length. Would this work well for that purpose?

    • @jldwoodworking
      @jldwoodworking  2 роки тому

      Hi Todd. I guess in theory it would work but I think that might be stressing this saw. It is a small saw really more built for trim type work. Thanks for watching...

    What’s the max height board this saw can cut? I need a little saw like this that can cut 2.5” tall boards standing on its edge.

      Ryobi says it will cut to a depth of 2 inches. This is a little saw. It basically is built to cut a 2x4 and that is just about it's limit....Thanks for watching and the comment.

    im debating with the Craftsman and this.. Hmm. can you cut 4x4 on this?

    • @jldwoodworking
      @jldwoodworking  2 роки тому

      It will not cut it in one pass. You would have to make the cut and rotate the 4x4 and cut again to get all the way through it. If you will be using it for 4x4 alot I would probably look for a 10 inch saw.... Thanks for watching....

    just fyi there is a big difference between factory reconditioned and blemished in terms of the warranty. I've always gone with blemished because of this reason.

      Hi thanks for the comment and the info. You are correct that there is a difference. Thanks for pointing it out and for watching....

    hey, great review !!! Do you think this miter saw would work with 4 1/2” baseboards ?

    • @jldwoodworking
      @jldwoodworking  2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching and the reply. It does exactly a 4 1/4 cut. Is the baseboard a true 4 1/2 or are the slightly short. If slightly short you are good. Otherwise you could do it but you might have to flip the board to finish the cut. This unfortunately is the one re=al downside to this saw.

      @@jldwoodworking I've got 4 1/4 baseboards to cut at 45°. I know it will cut them straight, but will it cut those at 45°? Great video.
