When I was 6 years old we had a tree in our backyard it was 50 ft tall I was always into nature always climbing trees long story short I climbed the tree all the way to the top and my mom had to call the fire department the come get me down 😂
It is just a hard with the rope. BC you have manage where it is, and keep your grigri from jamming. It is harder then y'all think, I'd be surprised if anyone in this comments has had real world trad experience. Let alone worked as an arborist, doing much less then he is.
James and another kiwi that was a champ came and worked with us for a week. We learned so much. James is next level. Both dudes humble as heck to. Ha. Favorite memory was takin them to a real good ghetto fried chicken place. James is also the only guy I ever saw on video do a helicopter tree removal.
All of the really skilled climbers I know don't even know something like this exists, nor would they ever want to compete, lol. You can tell this tree has been done over and over and over again by the people who go through it. It's kind of like the obstacle course at Air Assault school. It's really hard the first time you go through it, but if you're stationed at Fort Campbell and spend months going through the same course it becomes trivial after a while. But yeah, this is not really reflective of what actual arborist-work is like at all. I'm more impressed by watching climbers handle trees that are really fat at the base, covered in vines, haves tons of twists and dog-legs, slick-bark etc.
Production climbers don't have time for these shenanigans or any of the other shenanigans that the folks writing the "rules" come up with. I have worked with a couple of these ISA competition guys and they just can't keep up with production climbers at all.
@@Gigharborbigfoot I can tell you how that James Kilpatrick and Scott Forrest would smoke 99 percent of production climbers. What do you think they do for a living.
Not trying to troll but I have worked with a couple of these types who travel to and win these competitions and they are so caught up with using two hands on a saw, being double tied in, over thinking rigging situations, spending half the day tangled in throw line, and arguing that they are right and everyone else is doing it wrong that they literally can't keep a job around here. Looks like a fun climb though and nothing against the guy for having fun but please change the title because it's simply not true.
I'm surprised that he's using a hitchclimber. I see the video was posted two years ago, but srt has been taking over for some time now. I use a hitchclimber, in an O rig when I reach my anchor. I love it, but I'm looking at srt now. I'm getting too old to continue to use mrs ! I was just under the impression that all the sport climbers were srt now ? Not that it sways my decision, I can see and understand the many benefits, just been putting off forking out for a load of new kit. And the time spent adjusting my ways !
The man is a great climber he has proved it time and time again But don’t ask him for any help because he’ll shut you down faster than you can finish the question‼️ But he is a great climber and that’s that
James Kilpatrick Baumpflege - Tree Care I remember asking an asinine question about your climbing style💯💯 At the time I was so hungry to learn a better style than double rope Anyways I was just breaking your stones because when I asked you the question my answer was already in front of my face🤪🤪🤪🤪✅ So yes I was just joking my brother and by the way I have actually come along way finally I understand everything about the pendulum now thank you my great brother for all that you have had to offer everybody thank you very very much
I take pride in being able to help other climbers and answer any question I know the answer to. The fact of the matter is, there is no better climbing style or technique just different ones. Cheers
James Kilpatrick Baumpflege - Tree Care I know one thing all it takes is practice practice practice and I am finally a decent climber best of wishes to all the success my brother you have definitely earned everything and you spread a lot of positivity thank you so much bro enjoy life to the fullest
You realize this is the most dangerous Job in the world and you'd be fined by osha trying to do this without said gear. Also it would be impossible without said gear
If you guys really think this guy is the best! Then checkout "The German tree free climber". He might not be the best but he is very skilled and climbs insanely high and dangerous trees.
This ain’t free climbing. He just swinging around on a rope. People from Asia and Africa could’ve climbed and did this with no rope and no gear. Raw real tree climbing
This is just an experienced guy with a good high tie in and a cheer squad on the ground. Take nothing away from this man. But I see basic canopy movements with a champion hype squad.
Naw ringing bells and jumping dont make them the best arborist I've never heard of james Kilpatrick and been doing tree work for 30 years. Speaks for itself.
I agree, this has nothing to do with tree surgery. It's lovely and dry, sunny, he probably doesn't have great big clumsy boots, probably rock climbing shoes or something. No chainsaw etc. It's just a day out swinging around having fun really
That’s lame. I’m an arborist in San Francisco recreation and parks Golden Gate Park. We climb 80-110 foot Eucalyptus and Pines climb some of those and walk out on 40 foot limbs up and down the tree. We used to chase hangers for fun racing each other
Climbing comps are bar none the worst way to gauge the skill of a climber. I know a “championship tree climber” that had never dismantled a tree from the sky in their life. The “best” tree climbing you’ve ever seen will never be on a video…… I don’t have a cameraman 😎
Bro hes using fucking ropes I understand that he could fall and die or injure himself but if hes calling himself the best tree climber then he should be able to do this without ropes God my arm hurts after typing this.
The point is you cant enter the comp without using ropes you need to be tied in when limb walking out to each target judges are watching how much slack is in the competitors system work position lanyard has to be used as well to when hitting targets all this is being managed by the climber as well as rope management alot going on and it's a timed event. No pressure now try that now with no rope and lanyard let's see how long you survive
No such thing as the greatest in the world when it comes to being a tree climber.
Brings back memories, awesome to watch, thanks for sharing, mean control bro.

i guess Im kind of off topic but does anyone know of a good website to stream newly released movies online ?
@Elliott Evan I would suggest flixzone. You can find it on google :)
@Justin Eli Yup, been using Flixzone for months myself =)
He's super smooth with it IL give him that . Limb walking in the real situation is way harder than it looks . I've fallen alot.
Amazing to watch. Great rope and rig control. Thanks for the video.

I guess its human nature to trash talk! In any & every thing someone always has to say something.
Guy is good. I've been an ISA certified Arborist for 10+ years.
Agreed
God tier climbing right here, there moves are insanely hard to make..
A grigri isn't a life support device for tree climbing and it looks like he's using a zigzag. 12 years real world experience

I work with a guy who's been climbing for 16 years and I mean actually climbing and doing some really ugly trees. He's one of the bests
