    What is the length and width of this boat?

  • @craigmonteforte1478

    Pretty slick little boats ! For your replacement fins you can Epoxy a peice of plexiglasss onto the motors fins are usually a sacrificial part of a motor because they are the first thing to hit a rock or the bottom They are more important on outboards and outdrive that spin much faster than trolling motors although you may find your tracking gets slightly better

  • @tsjuno
    @tsjuno 4 роки тому +1

    You mentioned in the vid if you would have known about the plexi seal or flexi seal he would have used that instead? Can you tell me what that is?

    • @americanboathead5390
      @americanboathead5390  4 роки тому +1

      I think he was talking about the flex seal that you can paint on with a brush vs. the spray can kind that he used. Ill have to ask him when I talk to him next

      flex seal from a can
      use a big syringe to apply a little at a time and a bondo squeegee to spread it

    How long do u have on the water with those batteries? Are they deep cycle?

    • @americanboathead5390
      @americanboathead5390  5 років тому

      Obviously it depends on how much you throttle around... if they are on full blast, they should last 3-4 hours or more. Itd be easy to make them last eight hours with some fishing or just drifting with power off type of things. I have a deep cycle marine battery and ken here has just a reg. Cranking battery i believe

    Cool boats but always those ugly steering wheels.. why?

    • @americanboathead5390
      @americanboathead5390  6 років тому +1

      Cheap/free and small for one thing. The other is that many times if you get a mower or gokart wheel small enough, its really difficult to attach them the rest of the steering system! Alot of people just see a part they need and make it!

    To improve run time and performance you can replace the junk controller that waists power with resistors for any setting under full power with a bicycle type controller, also replace the prop with a model airplane plastic props. You will see huge improvement.

    Been there done that !
    My 17' canoe drive, 4 stroke weed eater likes 10" props and are only a few bucks to replace unlike trolling motor ones.

    I thoroughly love the boats, and the pleasure you two have with them. Wished I had the courage to build and operate a boat such as these, you guys are great. Just one question, “where is the life jackets?” Not good enough to have them onboard, got to put them on! Sorry, but my respect for water is immense. And there is my respect. Keep building, keep motoring, keep having fun! I gave a high five and I subscribed.

      Thank you friend! I guess ive just gotten so comfortable in these lakes because ive never worn a pfd while swimming since i was a little kid. But you are right, there are a couple of instances where a jacket could be the difference between life and death. I have a small one that inflates when in contact with water that i should wear more often though or... always lol thanks for watching too!

    Im building a miniature chris craft barrel back (kind of). Ive got some questions about freeboard and overall dimensions, if you dont mind. What is your overall length? Im at just under 8", so i can put it in the back of my truck. At 7" long, and 42" wide...im not really sure how stable she's going to be.

    • @americanboathead5390
      @americanboathead5390  6 років тому

      Thank you!! Its hard to say due to how much you search for free or cheap parts. But around $80 for new marine battery, around $100 for new trolling motor (less for used) then maybe $75 for wood depending on how you build it of course and size. Then $75 or so for fiberglass mesh and resin etc. So between $250-$500 itd be hard to spend much more than that without expensive electronics i guess!

    Nice time on the lake brian . Did Ken eventually catch something or did he just eat the pink salmon? No point in wasting perfectly good tinned salmon i say. Lol. Are you going to try out solar power charging, would there be enough room to attach sufficient panels? That would be interesting. Atb from neil in Scotland where solar power is just wishful thinking.lol.

    Shellfish like lobsters, crabs, clams, crawdads, etc. are what slave owners used to feed to their slaves. And they are the ppl that turned shellfish into something that's considered high dollar delicacies by today's standards. The slave owners thought they were being slick back then and saving money and they absolutely turned that shit into a 5 star flipping meal!!! I've always loved that little tidbit of history. I can't imagine the 1st time being told that I had to eat the cockroach of the sea though.
