- 1977 Caprice Classic Junkyard Find. So here we have one one of two late 70's box chevy caprice classics that just hit the junkyard. This 77 4 door Caprice Classic still had some good parts but unfortunately it appears as though it was flooded along with some body damage. The insurance company ended up totaling it out. I was surprice it still had an Edelbrock intake manifold still on it and it had fairly new dual exhaust with bow tie tips and flowmasters.
Love my 77 box...best years for box 77-79 ...still working on it & just added a 84 buick electra to the fleet
If it's a fresh water flood, it tends to be an easier fix than a salt water flood. My coworker used to get TX flood cars all the time and fix them up as commuter cars here in NYC. The VIN on this is 1 for Chevrolet, N for Caprice, 69 for 4 door, U for 305 2 barrel Chevrolet V8, 7 for 1977, C for Southgate, CA assembly and the rest is the production sequence. These are great cars and they sold like wildfire in the 70s. Same thing happened to my grandfather's Caprice around 1993. He got sideswiped in the rear and the trunk shifted, ripping through the mounting points. I got a $25 trunk from the junkyard, a used RH taillight and filler and rattle canned everything #24 light blue. That car got totalled out a few times due to getting hit by others. He got the money, I fixed it up and he was good to go.
Dunham Motors was a used car dealer and was located at 2820 Jacksboro Hwy, Fort Worth, TX 76114. It's still a used car lot, and today it's occupied by Periko Motors and Canelos Motors, which again appear to be used car lots. That's the wrong power window bezel for the driver's side. They were clipped in from behind on the door panel originally with "fold out" clips and the door lock was usually on the armrest from what I recall. That's from a later B body car.
That's Mr. Gasket, not Mr. Goodwrench on the breather. No cowl tag, so we'll assume that the colors are all original for it.
Too sad. These are my personal favorites. 77 & 78 were the best years of the Caprice ever
Cool video
Thanks
Another loaded caprice. Would have loved this brand new in 77.
in 1977, caprice classic outsold the impala, that was now a fleet model, as well as a base car. bel air, was still sold in canada.
Every day is an Xmas present, Benny. Keep em coming!
Back in 88 I found a 1977 2 door Caprice 2 Door with the slant back window... 305 auto - same color as this car and tan interior. I found it at an Impound lot auction for $ 190. The trans was out, I put in a used one cleaned here up and drove it awhile before I flipped it for $ 1500 ! Solid nice smooth car, I called it "the CAB"....
Back around 2003 I bought a 78 2 door for $1000. My friend said he had to have it. Gave me $1600 for it. I think I made a mistake in selling it
my favorite car
Same yellow as my 78 Impala 2door. My interior held up about as well. Looks like a Smurf got caught in the engine fan though. Send this one to catloco, he could use the parts....
Lol
Hilarious!😅
I had one of those but it was green and in better shape than that one.
Thanks for the video.
insurance auto auction of old vehicles is always a great find. reason i like that yard so much you're at. almost no damages totals the vehicle so you always find good parts.
sport coupe wwith the bent rear glasss is the hot resto ticket
redesigned for 1977, I was 10 in 1977 & i remember this. Built November 1976, that be model change over from July through Oct. These day or seems lately new model years seem to come out early but not too often.
Insurance companies are a big racket! Yeah it may have been flooded out but that is easy to fix. The guys that I work with had picked up alot of classic cars that had been flood damaged at some copart insurance auctions. All have been restored and some has already been sold.
most 1977 impalas and caprice classic, had the 5.0litre v8.
Can't go wrong with a Caprice, def would see that thing sitting at a church parking lot during service and driving around afterwards ^^
I'm guessing the flood worsened the slightly rusty floors and probably flooded the engine. But someone was definitely dailying it!
This '77 chevy caprice is old skool vehicle but the interior complete gone
Decent intake, not a dinosaur. Good to about 5500. Dunno if it's worth 40. Nice part car. That rear end looked swayed to me. The way both quarters were buckled... Idk
That looks like a Wal-Mart utility knife issued to employees. I used to work at Wal-Mart & i had one just like this.
This should be saved
Well that was fast
Nothing's impossible. A good restoration can be done!
If junkyard gets out of state cars can't sell em have to part it out even if it runs .
Pancho Villa why?
I hope you got some good parts for your cars.
I like it 😀
That'll buff right out.
One of the few times that whatever change you find in the back seat is probably worth more than the car.
Lol yep 👍
Nice... I'm looking for 1 of these aerocoupe tho
If you are still looking I have a 77 with power seats windows and locks crushed velvet interior with no tears .350 engine with headers , Rebuilt th350.. no rust Just needs paint and mufflers . I'll take 5k . If you are interested I'll get a video of the interior

Strange deal here...maybe it took a dip in a pond or something
Hey what’s up man do you remember what junkyard is this I’m looking for an electric seat like that one for a 79 caprice
I believe this was as pick n pull west Dallas TX. Unfortunately they crushed it a good while back and they even shut down that whole junkyard
Do you know the address on that pick and pull
@@felipeduarte796 its off loop 12 and Jefferson. But like as I mentioned, the whole junkyard is no longer there. They closed it down
Do you think this car is still around I need that Front electric seat
Long gone. They crushed it already.
@@ClassicRideSociety If you run across a 77 78 79 caprice classic I need the electric front seat will you let me know
Where this located at

i would have went ham lmao
NOOOO !!! Why Lord Why !!! :) I would of stripped that whole car.
Hey Google user, wtf is a harmonic balancer?
you stole a rosary?
“ good” catholic
I look at it this way. I saved it. It would have been sent the mill and crushed with that car. I think I've saved a Bible once, a few crosses and other religious items as well from the crusher. I'll take my judgement when the time comes

To me… the real sin is crushing these cars to begin with…
Create a group of people
Say that want to save 1977-79
Impalas & Caprices…
List a database of all these in
junkyards presently.
Have cars inspected
Save those that can be saved.
Pull all savable parts.
Create a warehouse for cars
and all saved parts.
Put some back together and
then add them to the used car
market.
Then do 1973-1978 Galixys/LTDs
Good old cars that were built
Like tanks…
That’s what I’d love to see! CB
I’ve seen worst cars on the road get that box Chevy out of there. That’s what GM built cars that were good.
No way to fix to old ..of course. Toatled
