Project SEARCH | Discovering Layne’s Full Potential

To Layne, the world is full of possibility. Undeterred by challenge, he fully commits to every task at hand. When approached with the opportunity to participate in Project SEARCH (bit.ly/3UUvwk6) at Nationwide Children's Hospital, Layne was all in. Project SEARCH is an intensive 9-month internship program that provides training, education and workforce development for students with disabilities. The goal is to help prepare students for competitive, integrated employment. For Layne, Project SEARCH opened a world of possibilities. And today he is a key part of the Central Distribution team on the loading dock at Nationwide Children’s where amid the beeping machinery, clanging doors and boisterous camaraderie, Layne works as a Receiving Clerk. Through this opportunity, Layne has excelled at connecting with people because he gets the job done and done right - making him known not just for doing his best, but for motivating and inspiring others to do theirs.

My mom is the Project Search coordinator at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. It’s really helped a lot of students with job skills and many of them have gotten jobs in the community. Love this program!

I do that too!! I make sure that the boxes go to wherever they go!! It’s rewarding when you go into the working 🌍 world!! Project SEARCH is helping people get jobs who don't have the opportunity like me💙!!
