I don't think this demo does it any favours at all. Every single one of the sounds is straight out of decade old Euro-trance. They're hardly current or big sounding.
First of all, I think most of these demos are quite old and not from 2012. I am also quite sure these sounds have not been processed outside of the VST. The point of this demo is to show what you can do with Sylenth1 alone, without any third party processing. This demo is just scratching the surface of what you can do with Sylenth1. If you want to use Sylenth1 to make more bigger and fatter sounds, then simply process the sounds differently. I only use the built in EQ, Chorus and Arp in Sylenth1, the rest I process in a mixer. Sylenth1 is one of the most important VSTs when I am making layered supersaws. Without Sylenth1, it will sound a lot worse because Sylenth1 has a different sounding sawtooth (kind of similar to the Virus TI, it has a similar thin sound to it like the Virus TI). Sylenth1 is great, but you have to learn to use it right. People still use it despite it being released in 2006, even if it pretty much have been surpassed by Serum and Spire. I still use Sylenth1 despite also owning Spire, just because of the sawtooth of Sylenth1 (and because its quick workflow). As long as no other VST can replicate the sawtooth of Sylenth1, I will still always use Sylenth1 in my productions.
I remember listening to this in 2012 and the piece at 3:43 still stands out. Just beautiful, even 10 years later...
