AveragePlayer yeah, pretty true, Ryan has made a lot of original content and with all the effort he and his team put into his video, he only gets 1 million views. Now, that’s a lot, but he has 20 million subs and not even half of his subscribers watch his videos. Of course PewDiePie makes original videos and him and his editor put a lot of effort also. Basically they both deserve more views for all of their work.

UA-cam's choice to favor quantity over quality is so sad.
I do agree with you but also you've got to think about how difficult it would be to write a code that sorts by quality because something's quality is entirely subjective
I mean yes, but by basing the amount of money given to creators on watchtime UA-cam is actually promoting quality content, instead of just basing it on the quantity of views and videos that one could put out. I think that was actually the whole point of the switch, since shitty channels could just post clickbait videos every day and get paid the same as the people who spent hours making actual quality content
Or maybe youtube just wants us to be constantly on it.
perhaps it's a combination of what UA-cam and the biggest advertisers wanted???
UA-cam just changed how money is given from views to watch time. the problem with this is that your video has to reach at least 10 minutes now to get decent ad revenue. The problem with this is that most of Ryan's skits back in the day were a lot shorter and therefore easier to produce. So now he had to make his videos longer either limiting his options or forcing him to add some random bs to keep up with the 10 minute mark, while also having to keep posting videos constantly to keep up with the youtube algorithm. So the new system didn't really force quantity over quality, but it did make short content bad for ad revenue, such as Ryan's short comedy skits. This forced a lot of people to switch to content that is longer and easier to produce, therefore limiting most good and creative content. So in conclusion, the new youtube system did not force quantity over quality but limited a lot of the creative freedom of content which resulted in unoriginal and repetitive content today. So basically Ryan's worst nightmare.
Tl;Dr The new UA-cam system forced people to make longer videos (10+ minutes) worsening the content and forcing people to go to easier faster production methods, which is bad for Ryan because his most of his old skits were short and funny. Now Ryan is big unhappy with youtube because he had to make more longer videos while keeping up with the algorithm, meaning he had to post videos he didnt like but had no choice.

This is so true! I feel like that's a problem artists always face. So, you end up having to decide "Do I want to copy everyone else and get views or do I want to do what actually makes me happy and risk losing views?"
If that particular job is your livelihood, it makes the choice all the more stressful, but life is short. What's the point in having a lot of money, views or whatever if you're not happy? I say do your thing Ryan! 😊 Whatever makes you feel fulfilled in life, do that! 🤗❤

Man after watching PewDiePie for years and watching your videos during quarantine. I realized Ryan Higa content is better than PewDiePie and he deserves also 100 Million views.
He at the very least needs to get 22 million subscribers.
I subbed to 530 people and i would say he’s top 50 but that could change if i finish watching all his videos
I love pewds and his content is also good but in comparison with Ryan's contents it is kinda average. Ryan always puts a lot of creative effort in every video and it takes more work than meme reviews and stuff but still I respect both the ogs

PewDiePie said it himself aswell he questions why he even somehow got to where he is now but I would say it just has to do with not really putting effort but more of consistency. Now I'm not saying Pewds doesn't try but I think just him being himself either talking about stuff that he genuinely enjoys or talking to the viewers I think its what draws people in more than just creative skits, he does what he loves passionately and it worked out for him. Ryan Though yes his videos are amazing for what it is but I don't feel a connection to which in a way I guess its why I stopped watching. Kinda hard to explain at this point but thats how I think and feel as to why PewDiePie got to where he is now because of how consistent he is and always at times when things aren't working out he tries other ideas for videos which is always different.

I agree at what Ryan said, if you haven’t seen Ryan’s Ninja Melk commercial, or his painting one...
The Ninja melk one took 7 months to make and got 1.4mil views in several weeks.
The painting one involved the slightest fraction of his total effort and got more than 1.7mil views within a week
Ryan you shouldn’t put so much effort into something that you won’t get much out of.
If you want to go that way and you enjoy making those videos, go ahead. But this is advise if you want to treat yourself after so much hard work.😊

I love how real and self-aware Ryan is. He realizes when he's upset, then he remembers that there are bigger problems in the world, and he knows he's complaining about a total first world problem. Just because there's bigger problems, doesnt mean you shouldnt complain or get upset, thats an unhealthy mindset.
@@DwynTwo I mean yes its naturally human to be upset about yourself or your own situation. But when you are dealing with first world problems (like Ryan) Its important to remember others who are less fortunate than us to remind us that we are not the only people in the world. I would argue its more unhealthy to have a negative mindset that resorts to complaining (as opposed to actually *doing* something about your situation), which most of the time, does nothing to solve your situation.

Sometimes you simply NEED to cry or tell someone how crappy you feel, otherwise youre just bottling things up. In that situation, being reminded that less fortunate people exist doesnt make me feel better either. Sure, generally you need to acknowledge your privilege, but sometimes it's okay to think about yourself and not others. If I lose my dog, pointing out that other people have lost their children wont make me feel better and I may resist the urge to slap someone if they try to put it in that perspective.
