I work with a big real estate owner. He use to be a very difficult and almost rude person to call about a property. One day I had to call him and I was not looking forward to it. Great was my surprise when I encountered a totally changed man. He confided in me, where he before would not even confided which day of the week it was, that he had suffered a brain aneurism and nearly died. He said he had a good look at his life and did not like what he saw. This happened about 7 years ago and he is still this nice and friendly man he became after that life threatening insident.

I also had this lightbulb moment, but in a clothing store where I heard one assistant cpmplaining to another one about how unfair and temperamental her manager is. I have been a manager for all my life and never had unhappy staff, because I work according to a "recipe" that I have adjusted and polished over the years. In that moment I knew I can help all levels of managers to have dedicated, happy staff, because I had it with all the various groups of staff during my career. I am now at the stage where I cannot decide if I want to do it face to face with a group (I prefer the personal contact) or do it remotely, where I can reach more people. I have always felt in the past 10 years that I need to impact people's lives, but never realised that my ability to manage and develop people, is where I can contribute. I am so passionate about this, that I feel I cannot waste another day, but I still do not know which route to go.
