      To add to this, there are agents and 3rd party auditors going to all the stores that sell alcohol and testing the employees to see if they'll sell to minors. A part of that is a training system that tells them if two people come in buying alcohol they have to check both and if anything is 'off' they reserve the right to deny the sale. Because if the employee fails one of the agents tests they will be fired and sometimes brought up on charges.

      "I am unaware of any server trying to steal money from someone's credit card"
      Really? It's happened to me and multiple people I know have a similar story. Get a brand new credit or debit card, eat out at a restaurant you have never been to before, and within a few days you get a call from your bank about some suspicious charges on your card. You had not used the card anywhere else, so who else could have gotten the number? In my case someone tried to buy about $400 of high end lingerie with my card before the bank canceled it.

    Ok, change (coins) in America is easy:
    Penny= $0.01 (100 pennies= $1)
    Nickel= $0.05 ( 20 nickels= $1) it is called a nickel because it is made of copper and nickel and has German origins "kupfernikel".
    Dime= $0.10 (10 dimes=$1)
    Quarter=$0.25 (4 quarters=$1) it's 1/4 of a dollar, hence the name.
    We use coins of these denominations because our everyday taxes (food, clothing, etc) state to state, city to city, county to county ALL have different tax rates (yes, even within 1 state the tax rates differ from city to city). Groceries can come out to some weird total, such as: $26.96. If you pay cash and have the correct change in your pocket, you'll have a penny and some variation of the coins listed above.
    We all can tell the difference between a $1 and a $100, because it has the denomination written in long form,at the bottom of the bill (ie: one dollar) ; AND every bill has the actual numerical value in each corner, and there is a different president on each bill.
    But our money has been slightly changing color for each bill since 2004.
    We do have a $1 coin, although the US Mint no longer makes them... They've changed designs 5 times since it's introduction in 1794. It makes no sense to me to carry heavy dollar coins when you can carry paper dollars.
    Our flag is the symbol of our country it is the collective "us".
    The 13 stripes represent the original 13 colonies,the 50 stars represent each state, and the colors of our flag represent:
    Red: Represents valor, bravery, and hardiness
    White: Represents purity and innocence
    Blue: Represents vigilance, perseverance, justice, peace, happiness, comfort, and relaxation.

What he is doing is using a tried and tested method to use the UA-cam algorithm to boost his viewership. By pretending to be ignorant and unappreciative, people will want to argue with him in the comment section. When people post comments to correct him, the algorithm sees the activity and views it as people having interest in the video. If the algorithm thinks the video is "interesting" it will promote the video to more people. More people watch the video, more people watch the adds, UA-cam and the content creator make more money. Yay capitalism.

    It would cost billions of dollars for the US to switch over to the metric system. We are not going to spend that much just so that other countries are not inconvenienced. Most of our product labels have both metric and imperial measurements on them. When you go to another country you just have to accept that money will be different and you will have to memorize, do math, and learn new things. I love our money. It doesn't and shouldn't have colors on it. It represents our history and doesn't need to look modern. If you give away too much money because you aren't paying attention, that's on you, it's not the money's fault. $12 for a shot is a lot or not very much depending on where it's purchased, the brand, the quality, etc.

    As an American who has lived his whole life in the US (69 years) the following things have never happened to me:
    1. Mistake a $100 bill for a $1 bill. We look at the number printed on the bill, not the color.
    2. Have a waiter steal my credit card in a restaurant. If they did, I would get an instant text notification on my phone when an unauthorized charge was made and I could immediately put a freeze on the card. It would also be very easy to trace it back to the server.
    3. I've never had someone stare at me through the gap in door in a public bathroom. Even if someone did, what's the big deal? Most people don't want to see what you're doing in there. He's exaggerating the size of the gaps, anyway. If somebody hung out in the men's room looking through the gaps, he would likely get punched out.
    4. I've never sued anybody nor have I been sued.
    I have a flag at my home that I fly on all the national holidays and other special occasions. I fly it to honor all our veterans, especially my father who served in WWII and my grandfather who served in WWI.

There's no way the can know the taxes in each jurisdiction then include the tax in the price. What happens when a shipment is diverted from one destination to another? The prices might be the same, but most likely theyd be too high or too low.

While commercials say one price I know if I go into Walmart or Target they're going to add taxes, so why not have that price when the register adds easily. It's not like the employee has to calculate it, the store's computer should be able to print the correct price for marking the item in the aisle.

    The gap around a public bathroom stall door is for safety of both the person trying to enter or exit the stall to help prevent that person from being ambushed by an attacker. It allows a person to view if the stall is occupied or if someone is waiting outside to ambush them. It also encourages people to conduct their "business" quickly and vacate the stall. Being seen can also discourage people from trying to take residence in a the stall. In the United States, it is social protocol not to stare into stalls but use the gaps just to determine occupancy and to either wait patiently or find another, empty stall. Lurking around the stall door or looking into the gaps would be reported to authorities as suspicious activity and potentially a crime.

    Not to be too rude but Americans do not need primary school, color coded money to look at the corner numeral of a bill to differentiate a $1 from $100 bill. To Americans that I know, multi-color bills look like "Monopoly" money which would be used for board games or fake play money that little children would have with which to play. As for $1 coins, the Federal government has been trying since the 1970s to get them adopted for general use but people and businesses refuse to accept and use them. Same thing with the metric system, the cost of conversion of the U.S. to the metric system would cost billions of dollars to businesses and government so why expend the money to convert when the people do not demand to change it. Remember OP, the United States government serves the people and not the other way around.

    You have to remember, we have Alcohol, Tobacco and firearms agencies in the feds and state alcohol, tobacco and firearms in each state. They are serious regarding IDs. (most anyway). A lot of registers/tills when they ring up tobacco or alcohol, there is a message regarding checking ID and entering a birth year. They cannot continue with the transaction until they put the birth year in. They have under cover (under 21) go in to try to buy. If that store is caught not asking for ID or selling, they immediately lose their license. Alcohol and tobacco are big sales so the businesses do not want to lose their license. It's just common to show your ID even at 60. Also, there was a huge problem with people over 21 buying liquor for underage which is why they ask the person you are with for ID. (kind of silly since they could be waiting outside if they are smart). But, it happens at bars when you order 2 drinks for you and someone else.

    There are 2 reasons we don't include the tax in the cost of goods here.
    1. Often stores are chains like Walmart. It is easier for them to say the cost of this item is $5 for all of their stores instead of having to figure out the different costs for each store. Especially considering how many items they sell.
    2. Our sales tax is not only different in different localities, but it changes too depending on what voters decide needs to be paid for. If a football stadium is built in an area, they might raise the sales tax in that area to help pay for it. A city might decide they desperately need to update they storm drainage system without a way to pay for it, they might raise the sales tax by a penny or two. If we included in the sales price, does would have to change every price in their store every time.

    Andre, the supermarket denial of beer sale is due to very strict alcohol sales laws in most states across the country. As a twenty year retail manager for convenience stores which sold alcohol, I can tell you that this is situation is a potential "third party sale". This occurs when the underage customer gives a "third party" money to buy alcohol for them. This is why when a person is attempting to purchase alcohol, all members of your group present must show your identification IF ASKED or else the sale is denied. This is because the sales clerk is LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE for selling that alcohol to anyone under 21 years old. If the clerk sells to one person and the other people beside them are under age, who is to say the older person is or is not buying it for the underage people? The alcohol law enforcement agency in their city or state will operate "secret shopper" tests where they test if a clerk follows the law. If the clerk does not follow the law, they will at least face a ticket and very expensive fine and the store will also face a steep fine which will likely cost the employee their job and could cost the store their license to sell alcohol. Even if they do not lose their job, the clerk's license to sell alcohol could be revoked and/or have to be renewed at addition expense. Additionally, if the violation is severe enough or the clerk is a repeat offender, the clerk can face arrest on the spot and incarceration. That is why most businesses take the decision making away from the clerk and require EVERY CUSTOMER, no matter how old they actually are, to produce an ID before selling cigarettes or beer or cough/cold medicine or spray paint or any other age restricted product sold at retail. During my previous career, I have verified ID for cigarettes purchased by a 91 year old regular customer. Every time he came in, he had is ID ready, I looked at it, punched the date into the register, and I sold him his cigarettes. He understood that we were only doing our job and trying to prevent underage people from accessing these products EASILY.

      And let's not forget that a lot of alcohol regulation came out of the high incidence of alcohol-related deaths among underage drinkers. The police here (PA) raised a major red flag about this years ago when kids would go across the state line (where the drinking age was lower) and come back smashed and out of control and causing drinking related accidents. If you ask me, that was worthwhile legislation.

Identity theft is a huge deal, and you'll go to prison for years if you commit it. Besides, there are also pretty strict laws on the bank's end to reimburse customers for fraudulent charges. You're more likely to have it stolen through a card skimmer placed on self-serve payment stations, they can harvest thousands of cards in a day. The original video is from a South African. That explains a lot about why he’s shocked by the choices in the stores. His home country is rapidly declining and reverting to a preindustrial economy. It’s teetering on the edge of genocide and will probably be in full civil war in his lifetime

    His complaints are pretty petty. I have never heard of both people having to show ID; only the purchaser. As negative as he is, he may have made the person angry, and they decided he could go elsewhere for his beer. Also, they are required to see ids to ensure you are of age.

      I have had it happen in grocery stores. They want to be sure the “adult” isn’t there buying for the under age kids. I’ve had my daughter ID’ed when I was buying alcohol before. It makes sense if you think about it (which he obviously isn’t going to take the time to do).

      True could be he was being a jerk, most places reserve the right to refuse service, regardless of valid ID. An out of country ID is also not a "valid" ID, for purposes of buying alcohol as it's rare someone would know the difference from real or fake. A passport would have been considered "valid" ID.

    Whenever there is a medical emergency,say someone has a heart attack at home etc., fire trucks with trained personnel show up at your house for assistance. If someone falls down in their driveway they will come to your house and help you get up , if you are unable to get up and there is not a fire anywhere. They will also come to your house and change your smoke detectors. So they don’t use all their water. If you accidentally give away a $100 dollar bill that’s because you are careless. I have never heard of anyone making that mistake.

    If someone else hasn't said it. The constant request for ID is an outcome of stringent liquor laws following Prohibition. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms will send agents in to tryvand catch the owner violating the liquor laws, entrapment! It can lead to the loss if the license to sell ant of those things. So the fact that he offered a S A passport would be enough to make the cashier suspect they were being tricked by the BATF.

    You can't tell the difference between a $1 bill and a 50 dollar bill. A lot of people in America keep their bigger bills separated from the smaller denomination bills. So if we know we have a bigger bill in our wallets we will make sure when we hand money over for anything we look at the money that we're handing them.

    We love our flags not because they’re pretty, but because it represents the men and women who died defending it. This guy missed that whole point. As far as the dollar bill, well we’re not all young and strong like he is, I’d rather carry $50 of paper bills in my pocket, than a ton of metal in $50 worth of coins. He chews us out for not using the metric system, yet he complains that the ONE time we DO use the metric system (our currency) He says, “Why don’t you use a 20 cent coin like the rest of the world?” Frankly, I don’t think he knows MUCH about the US.

    Fines and license problems for selling to underage is very high for sellers. So when I worked at the market we were told to ID check if they look under 40 and for couples/groups to check all parties to ensure one was not buying for the underage. Common problem. Same caution was also used for ID and never accept an expired ID. The store would rather deal with the upset customer and back up the employee judgement than sell to a potential underage

    While yes, in America you are allowed to attempt to sue anybody for any reason, it is very expensive to hire a lawyer, you have to convince that lawyer its a good idea (not as hard as it seems but still a hurdle), and if you become well known for frivolous lawsuits you can get your cases thrown out and ignored more often

    The best reasoning I’ve seen for why Americans are louder is our environment. A lot of us live in individual houses, drive cars instead of public transportation, and in general have more private space.
    So, us Americans can afford to be louder without disturbing the people around us.

    Seigniorage is the difference between the face value of money, such as a PAPER BILL or a METAL COIN, and the cost to produce it. In other words, the economic cost of producing a currency made of PAPER is typically less than the cost of a coin made of METAL.
    As the price of silver increased, the cost of minting silver coins exceeded their face value forcing the government to reduce the coin's silver content.

    Of course we have a few, one is in a special wood & glass case it was the flag that was presented to my grandmother (currently a little over 95.5 years old) when my grandfather a former corporal in the Army Air Corps (in WWII) died in 2011 at the age of 92. It was draped over his casket before moving it to the cemetery, then placed above his final resting place, once the ceremony was complete, they ceremonially folded the flag & presented her with it after firing rifles to note the passage of a former soldier.
    This South African seems like a complainer, by-in-large.
    So he doesn't like holidays? Who doesn't like holidays? Complainer!
    At least toward the end... he got a bit positive around the food portions.
    Then negative about alcohol $'s.
    Stores can lose their liquor license if they get caught selling to minors. Yeah, he could be 20, Michelle could be buying it foir him... bad news.
    Medical ads, ime slightly more common.
    Get the car rental insurance they pay any lawsuits in case of accidents (make sure that's part of what you are paying for, tho.)
    So Europeans and South Africans are all perverts? (Bathroom stall issue). Also we have women's restrooms, male restrooms and either gender restrooms that are no stalls, just a one room one occupant (or one parent w/ a child - or children).

    10:59 - Yes. The server takes the card to run it through the machine. Europe started using credit cards long after the US. When the US started, portable technology didn't exist. In fact, the credit card machine had to dial the back using a phone line modem. Yes, they could write down your credit card info, but police say it's quite easy to identify if a server is stealing credit card info, so they get caught.
