- This took a while and got really intense towards the end lol. For anyone confused about how we was able to activate a charge attack so close and so fast right after getting parried its because Sam does this weird thing where if you interrupt him mid charge (which i did earlier by sliding into him) he'll "spend" that charge leaving him with only 2 left until his next "reload" (dash attack start).

Just for people asking this was done on revengeance. Parry damage is less extreme with no upgrades.

The "no upgrades" portion of this shouldn't be taken lightly here.
Of course, that means that your sword is about as effective as a cheese grater when attacking Sam, but without any upgrades, you're missing *the* second most essential tools in this game: dodging! (aka offensive defense)
So you _really_ had to be decisive with your attacks, not to leave yourself wide open to his sudden unparriable attacks. To compensate for that, you used blade mode and jumps to cancel your attacks.

I was watching a streamer try to beat Sam for the first time, but they had no upgrades. I sat for a good 30 minutes of them failing over and over before I asked if they had upgraded their stuff. They had no idea how to upgrade and had been playing the game with no upgrades. Somehow.

As someone who's actually done this before (the fight can be fun and can be a good endurance test this way) revengence difficultly actually makes the game harder as opposed to it typically making it easier. It was nice to see somebody actually get Sam to phase 2, even without any upgrades I just spam ripper mode perfect parries when he does the transition attack lmao. Great vid
I finally S-rnaked him without sword upgrades and only 40% extra health that i found in blue boxes but i did use yellow body tho and sometimes he just refuses to get countered💀he dodges it repeatdly like Dark Souls
just got back in the game after abandoning and i beat sam on revengeance mode AND no hit him today, i can say it was satisfying just seeing all that hp get shredded

Nice to see another PC user out here making these plays, especially one that bullies Sam as well. Your blade mode cancels are ON POINT too, it's a small thing in the grand scheme of the fight but it doesn't make it any less impressive
On revengeance mode, perfect parrying Sam instantly drops him to 40-30 health... I've cheesed him wayyy to much with that, lol
But nice vid, I've always enjoyed watching people harass Sam
This was on revengeance lol upgrades actually effect parry damage alot. But I'm glad you enjoyed! If you like watching people harass sam I've got plenty more vids like this one

Didn't finish the video. Had to stop to point out 0:20. Delay heavy launcher that avoids the unblockable followed by headcrack is super impressive and skill based in this fight. Bravo!
Edit: the rest of the fight was also good. Loved the ingenious moves. Could have used a bit of ripper mode sprinkled in especially towards the end.
Yeah I decided against using ripper mode because I wanted to do the fight as if I just started from r-01 lol but thanks I was waiting for someone to notice the launcher dodge I did lol

It surprised me that Sam didn’t say “Just getting started!” at the end but instead said “this ends here”…never heard it before

This is the boss fight that we suppose to have when playing on revengence. They should rebalance the parry strike damage. One attack that reduce 50% bosses health make boss fight become fodder fight is not a enjoyable gameplay
Dude this game is 8 years old and Konami aren't known for "rebalancing" their games. Besides, fighting a boss for 10 minutes with the same attacks isn't fun either
@@juno4life758 10 minute is a lot for fast hack and slash bossfight... but able to 2 strike a bossfight and finish it under a minute? For me thats not enjoyable.. dmc bosses has high health with damage reduction on dmd but if you familiar with the bossfight, it should take less than 10 minutes
The counter parry strike thing is meant to be your version of the "WHAT!????? HE KILLED ME INSTANTLY??? I HAD FULL HEALTH WHAT THE"
Plus it doesn't occur that much unless you mastered parry
@@c00l94 true... from my observation, you only parry the last slash from the combo attack, which sometime he will dogde the parry strike. But blocking in mgrr does not consume any resource , thus player easily mastering the parry to counter sam..

What is up with the weapon, that design isn't the standard HF blade, rather the HF blade from the prologue.
It's a mod. Doesn't effect gameplay at all just the model of the sword. I downloaded it because I personally prefer the prologue sword design
I genuinely don't understand how people can this good. The parrying is so jank for me it's super frustrating attacking when I'm trying to parry.

Sorry for the late reply. You can find hp upgrades in locked crates and you may have been accidentally picking those up.

Unfortunately it's modded. I just changed the model of the hf blade so no gameplay changes. You can find it on gamebanana it's called mgs4/prologue sword I think.
