Unfortunately, I've had experience with people who had that attitude of "I'm the boss, that means I can do whatever I want" and they clearly saw that as existing in some kind of vacuum - it wasn't connected to anything else, like their performance or customers or employees or presenting the product appropriately or any kind of consequences. It was all about their authority and that was the only thing that mattered to them. You can imagine how effective they were.

Something important is being missed about Trump and it involves his immense popularity. Rand once praised Americans for their sense of life, a pre-cognitive attitude toward life that accounted for America’s success. Trump, if anything, has that. His words resonate with that still flickering flame of individuality, albeit weak. I wish his words were more specific, at least to guide his actions.
It little matters what the rhetoric is. It's the policy. By that metric, Trump has been vastly superior to Biden. He hasn't agitated for WW3, at least.

The institution of Checks and Balances has not drifted from its purpose. Its purpose in 1776 was to prevent authoritarian rule by an individual, and its purpose in 2024 is to prevent authoritarian rule by an individual. Also, we don't need" mind-reading" when 100% of his Supreme Court picks were judges who believed in expanding the Executive power.

In my experience it’s difficult to reason with a lot of Trump’s supporters as well as most of his detractors. Something about him inspires hysteria both ways.
Baseless accusations with no substantiating point... "just knows nothing and doesn't care"... what's the evidence he knows nothing? what does he not know in particular? we just let people come on to rant about trump for relevancy sake? It wasn't even a unique or strong claim just an opinion fueled by mainstream talking points. I'm just disappointed I held this channel to a higher standard.

While Trump's statements and actions may have been widely perceived as challenging democratic norms and institutions, they do not universally indicate contempt for the American political system or the country itself. That is a Generalization fallacy. Also, ignorance of American history is not 'contempt' for America. Ignorance and contempt are separate concepts. Your argument is not rational.

Objectivism has reality on its side. It’s just a matter of time before more and more people realize just how corrupt our entire system is (and the two parties which run it). Then some real improvements can occur. Even if you are opposed to Objectivism, you will benefit from its impact on the culture. Just as people who are opposed to fosssiil fueells benefit from their impact every day.

Exactly, make this country great in terms of comparing one decade to another? Is MAGA campaign about revamping American industrial prowess when there was less regulation on businesses? Its very catching to boomer generations and some gen exers who watched inflation and taxes rise since the beginning of the federal reserve. The ones who lived throgh the depression would be wary of MAGA pre ww2. Post ww2 the US was the only country able to function in large capacity manufacturing and had abundance of resources for development. Its impossible to start a business from scratch in the present, current market without a loan. A loan is the new age indentured servantude and the banks (the fed) control the individualist. All the manufacturing is over seas as a result of terms with a neo capitalistic movement to make America a consumer nation. The US will never manufacturing cell phones in Iowa or Indiana or California. Elon Musk tried, tried and tried and saud the heck with it. Right now, there's a massive propaganda campaign to belittle Boeing manufacturing as infurior to Chinese passenger airliner manufacturers. These guys constantly copy cat US r&d through cyber security breaches lolololand they never have to pay for the r&d. The world wants to see America as a poverty striken nation, and in debt to IMF or whatever movement has a distaste for the USA as a constitutional republic of states. These states must share the wealth or there will be another world war. Yes, I went off a tagent, my apologies. Trump is another tool to appease the masses that are right now enraged.

I might be voting for Trump, but I have complete and utter contempt for him and the direction he has dragged the Republican Party. Amoral Conservatives want to pretend that Trump is not an amoral power-luster without any basic respect for the rule of law. His most active supporters love him not in spite of his amoralism and lack of principles, but because of it.
Nobody gets to vote for the candidate they would have picked, only the least worst option from that collection of wrecking balls otherwise known as the political class.
