Survival mode will likely consist of higher/max damage output enemies with more health, harsher environmental consequences (weather that can kill you, maybe radiation or ambient atmosphere that can damage you if it doesn’t already exist) and of course a harsher “basic needs” system, where you’ll need to monitor things like hunger and thirst, instead of just oxygen/Co2. I doubt they will remove fast travel, as it’s a key component to how the game functions.
It's really refreshing to see such a huge Bethesda fan being this honest about the faults of the game. Too many people are either calling it terrible or calling it a masterpiece. So when someone like you says it's great but not perfect, I can believe it.

I'm actually kind of glad that the main quest for Starfield doesn't really have major stakes involved like past Bethesda games sometimes its nice to not have a "Find My Son" or Find My Father" or The World is Ending" hanging over my head while I am doing side content. Plus I wasn't really expecting Bethesda to reinvent the wheel I just want a fun Bethesda game and that sounds like exactly what we are getting.
From what I have gathered as Im nearing the end, but I know what's going on, there are major stakes, but not what we're used too really. It is definitely very existential, but not in a threat way, more philosophical. Ill leave it at that.
I want and am expecting Skyrim and Fallout 4 in space, which means based on JuiceHead’s comments that I’m going to be delighted. I don’t expect perfection, because a game of this scope would be near impossible to do currently (ie full immersion and universe simulation). I was surprised in one sense to see his critique stating it’s not a 10/10 game for him, as I had expected it if I’m honest from the level of coverage, and to describe the main quest as getting ‘tedious’ at points is also a huge surprise. I appreciate the honest review though, and it’s better we temper expectations than get over hyped to the point of expecting true perfection.
I think what he means is that DLSS is much more powerful than FSR (but requires an Nvidia) and so it's a bit dumb they did not include DLSS support for people who want to push things further than FSR.
@@mythicdawn9574 dunno, I can't see my previous comment for some reason. Anyhow, moore's law is dead explains why starfield is missing dlss and why performance on Nvidia cards is poor
We shouldn’t expect a pitch perfect launch with any game but this game seems to have one of the best launches since Elden ring with the bugs and content
It was the best part, out the gate and head straight for a faction or be a nobody and do what you like. Lvl 1 argonian pacifist thief. Or a lvl 1 battle orc for the companions. Or a lvl 1 dark elf for the dark brotherhood. Made faction quests more than just trivial, they were quite hard cause you had no power or skills. Even railroad in fallout 4 was hard if from the vault you went straight to them. Synth laser weapons cut you like butter and your weapons did sweet fa damage to them. You don’t even have to do the main quest or join a faction, be whoever you wanted to be. A survivalist murdering people just to eat them. Or an adventurer going where he pleases in the pursuit of gold.
This is such a comprehensive review of all the things I was interested in knowing. Im hoping maybe like the robots dlc in fallout 4, vehicles may come later???
@@Russelshackleford a little atv would make runs back to the ship a lot less tedious. 4-6min walks back to the ship will add up insanely with a game of this scope. Now if there’s an instant fast travel back to your ship/landing pad that null and voids this concern completely. (But a lil atv would also just be so much fun)
What you said about the Crafting System and base building, as a Survival game player I have to say, I love what I hear! More than anything else though I can't to see what the modders do!
I am going to try build a "Starfleet" officer in my Starfield playthrough. A dedicated explorer that boldly goes where no man has gone before. Captain Archer (ST: ENT) or Captain Sisko (DS9) would fit well in this lived in universe. I am going to attempt to build the NX-01 Enterprise from the show or the USS Defiant.
It sounds like it'll be considered very good but not great, which is more than fine. However, with how fickle some people can be with hyped games, it might incur some disappointment and minor backlash.
Great review, thx! You may want to add 'SPOILER FREE' in title, or the description, as I almost past it up just to be sure. I, as well as many others I imagine, have no idea that the spoiler free aspect is part of the early access rules for all reviewers. It might bring in a few like me that almost past it up just to be safe. Glad I didnt! I really like the longer form, more detailed review!
Thanks for putting a quick "should you buy" message right at the front! Don't want any spoilers so turned volume to zero and gave you a thumbs ups. Will let it play out so you get the vull view and give you a thumbs up!
Todd Howard!! If this is what we are going to get from your future titles like the Elder Scrolls and Fallout, PLEASE don't make any more of them. Go back and replay your older titles, e.g. Morrowind and prior, and try to figure out how to make good RPG's again!!!
This was...a lot more negative than the other reviews I have watched so far and I do appreciate that. You did some great work here. Hope to see more in the days to come.

I appreciate the honest review though, and it’s better we temper expectations than get over hyped to the point of expecting true perfection.
the facial animations and body animations look as good as Cyberpunks
's.
Is it a good RPG? Or does it have the writing of Fallout 4?
unloading 6 shotgun shells into the unarmored desk lady, so cool!
25:45 FSR works with Nvidia and Intel graphics cards the same way it works with AMD

God I love how the guy at 7:50 just looked a bit sleepy from a shotgun to the head. Hope mods can add some more gore to the game lol
We must've been playing two different Starfields because all the enemies I've fought appeared to be borderline retarded lol
Awesome review. Im a new subscriber now. Can't wait to play
Honest review, really appreicated, I think a lot of this game is for me and it has the kind of depth I'm looking for cant wait to play!
Ive played 14 hours so far and i love it, ive barely scratched the surface but so far i haven't noticed any major bugs or had any issues with gamplay.
We shouldn’t expect a pitch perfect launch with any game but this game seems to have one of the best launches since Elden ring with the bugs and content
I'm already watching the streams of the game play! I'm glad people are enjoying it
That skill thing is music to my ears; I really didn't like the fact that you can just do anything at the beginning in Skyrim.
Must have been what the devs were talking about when they said it was a lot like oblivion
Or an adventurer going where he pleases in the pursuit of gold.
this all sounds exactly as i was expecting, looking forward too it
Can’t wait for mods to start rolling out
One of the more balanced, informative reviews I've seen - thank you!
This is such a comprehensive review of all the things I was interested in knowing. Im hoping maybe like the robots dlc in fallout 4, vehicles may come later???
Vehicles will be here within a week or two I guarantee it. Modders wet dream this is.
@@mattrobertson8793Man i hope, not having ground vehicles is such a miss. Game's gonna be so much fun if we'd have it
With how planet exploration works in this game, vehicles will be useless. I never understood why this was such a sticking point with people.
@@mattrobertson8793 "dont worry, modders will make this game good" #bethesdamakesthebestgamesever
Thanks!
man i’m gonna have to come back to this, stay strong boys n gals if you have early access HOLD OFF WATCHING VIDEOS.
IM SO TEMPTED BUT I MUST NOT WATCH
What you said about the Crafting System and base building, as a Survival game player I have to say, I love what I hear! More than anything else though I can't to see what the modders do!
It would be amazing if you could steal a starship and then break it down to salvage for parts and components as part of your bases function.
Very excited for a more complex and in-depth crafting system
Something I normally love, but NMS' POS inventory system has given me some severe trauma.
Been waiting for your review, can't believe Starfield is finally here!!
I definitely have the stutter and audio cutting/delay it get a little annoying hopefully they patch this at or shortly after launch
Thanks for putting a quick "should you buy" message right at the front! Don't want any spoilers so turned volume to zero and gave you a thumbs ups. Will let it play out so you get the vull view and give you a thumbs up!
"I'm not gonna spoil the game"
Proceeds to repeatedly spoil the game
Finally! A review that mentions HOTAS/Joystick support! I assumed it wouldnt have it but good to get confirmation
Todd Howard!! If this is what we are going to get from your future titles like the Elder Scrolls and Fallout, PLEASE don't make any more of them. Go back and replay your older titles, e.g. Morrowind and prior, and try to figure out how to make good RPG's again!!!
10 minutes left of work, 3 hours till launch. I am super excited!!!!
Dude really praised the faces in this game. Lost all credibility at that point
I ONLY wanted to hear your take on the game! Let's go!
This was...a lot more negative than the other reviews I have watched so far and I do appreciate that. You did some great work here. Hope to see more in the days to come.
Personally I feel like this review is incredibly charitable 😂
How so? I feel it accurately portrays the shortcomings of the game while still reaching the conclusion of it being a good but flawed game, giving the proper reasoning to reach said conclusion.@@Jalmerk
22:41 idk why but seeing a scissor lift with no outriggers being used outdoors in outer space seems 1. Sketchy 2. Probably the wrong or least effective/versatile tool for the job.
Weird grip I know but seems like a front end loader would be a better choice. Wonder if they have them?
god this game would be amazing if it was elder scrolls 6
Thanks for the review. I'll wait till it goes on sale.
Excellent review! Can't wait to dig into Starfield!
Did you not pay attention to the Direct and interviews that outposts, crafting and ship building were mid- to late-game mechanics? So, yes, it will be a chore to do early game.
Im skipping most of the video because I don’t wann to get spoiled. I just wanted to hear that it’s good.
I love this video good job!!!
kinda wish it was more gorey, like you shoot people in the head and nothing happens except a little blood comes out. and you can't loot all items that's displayed on a character like in 76? why do these games keep going BACKWARDS??
I’m dumb, it would be slashed, blown up or shot through but yeah mods
been watching for awhile. love the content
I can't wait for mods to make this a star wars simulator in 2 years
I cant wait for Extended Populated Sfw Planet mod
Starfield represents the very peak of old way RPG making. Baulders gate 3 showed the world there is another way. I pray Bethesda will incorporate BG3 style quest interaction and people interactions into es6
Not necessarily a bad thing, considering most of the best RPGS are considered "old"
BG3 is also turn based... YAWN
@@eodyn7
I thought the same till I played it.
The combat is low key kinda intense and insanely fun lol.
what??
@@Snow.2040 Exactly my thoughts on this system. I love Divinity: Original Sin 1&2. BG3 is a new ruleset in that engine, and I'm absolutely having a blast with it all. Turn based combat can get quite intense indeed.
Bethesda has never been strong on main story. It's always the world and side quests that win the day with players.
cant wait for Lover's lab mods
I feel if the concerns that people have that aren't as much fun will either be fixed by Bethesda, or modders, the beauty of Bethesda games
