- Snow at last! Let's start up the kubota b2601 compact tractor and the Landpride B2782 snowblower for a run up the driveway to plow the snow. A special thanks to a few of my subscribers for the suggestion to separate the brake pedals and use them individually to help steer the tractor in deep snow. Worked great- Thanks! Must of missed this old video as it's Jan 2022 now but snow is snow and I'm waiting for more. I did clean my driveway entrance and the 3 mailboxes on my side of the street. I was trying to relate the background music to something and finally figured it out. It reminded me of Mr. Rogers neighborhood but your tractor just didn't look like the Trolley heading into the Land of Make Believe.

That’s a lot snow Gord. Nice driveway. We got dumped on yesterday, first major snowfall of the season. Have not hooked my blower up yet, my bad ...doing other things. Will do it this week, and also store the brush cutter for the winter.. I need a heated storage shed, but I don’t have one.....brrrrrrr

Good reminder to check the fluids. I do the engine oil often. But I think I did not check the coolant for 2 years... My bad. I should do it frequently... Thanks for the reminder! This ATV seems to do a great job in deep snow!

We have the same winter thing... got LOTS in November, but rain took it out and that was it!
But than we got huuugge snowfall this month (January) about 2 feet total!

Our Kubota’s start with 5 seconds on glow plugs, it’s quite old 90s is my guess.
Kubota’s are quality built, so I don’t think there’s any worry :)

I have a rear snowblower on my compact and that's a little hard on the neck , I though about a front mount blower but now I see in a couple of spots your wheels were turned and you still went straight .. I have 2 driveways to the house ,on 1 of them there's a hill so steep I have to use 4x4 going down it or the rear wheels will drag a little on the gravel in summer ..
Good morning Lufkin! Yes, it happens regularly to me on the corners - if I start turning too late, or too sharp, the tractor keeps going straight so I have to lift the blower up off the ground a little to get traction to turn. So I have recently learned that if I slow down approaching the corner and begin to turn then I will turn ok. It took me a while to figure it out. Wow - that must be one steep hill! Great video looks like lots of snow there. I'm heading to Dorset this weekend to to do the Tall Pines poker run I hope the have snow like that.

Great video, just wondering how does it handle hills while blowing snow. Is traction an issue
Good day Bill. Great question. As you see more of the videos you'll come to see that there are two big hills - one I call the "Big" hill and the other one I call the "Steep" hill ( being the steepest incline). I can almost always blow upwards on the Big hill except when really icy but I have never been able to blow up the Steep hill - I always have to blow down. Traction. But I just got tire chains for the rear tires about a month ago so this will be my first year with chains. And I am looking forward to seeing how well they solve the challenge. Hope that helps. Good evening Adam. Thanks for the great questions. Here goes: And please remember I am not an expert. :)). I have a B2601 tractor. But note, that Kubota is phasing out the B series tractors and replacing them with the new LX series now. The blower is a B2782 60" blower and is awesome. However , if you don't have a long driveway, you may prefer to buy a rear blower for the 3 pt hitch, so you can free up your Front End Loader for other things during the winter. For me, I have a 1 mile long driveway, so looking backwards for a mile is not a good option. LOL. I am 100% satisfied with the front mount blower. Even though I lose use of my FEL during the winter months. The tractor_ regardless what you buy, in my opinion, it is super important that you have them fill the rear tires with RimGuard (beet juice) for added weight, if you live in a cold climate then have them install a block heater - otherwise it won't start in the cold of winter, have them install a 3rd function valve cause you will need it ( examples - a grapple, the hydraulic chute function for the snowblower, a fully hydraulic broom or front blade etc), if you are in a climate with severe winters, then have them add wheel spacers on the rear tires as you will most likely need chains for the rear tires at some point for traction in the winter ( and chains won't fit without wheel spacers installed). Good morning Audie. Great question. Yes I did - I looked at Deere and Massey as well. I also looked at the 2650 but decided, at the time, that the difference in price for the difference in capacities was not worth the $$ for me and my needs here, so I went with the 2601. Hey good day Francois. Great question. Unfortunately not that easy, especially in the cold. You have to remove the whole subframe etc in order to put the FEL back on. However, I just found out that the subframe also supports a plow blade attachment. If you look at 'Bota Driver' (youtube channel), he has the same blower and subframe I have but last week he just showed us how he connects up a hydraulic snow blade to the same subframe. are you using that snowblower ont op of gravel and if you are, how are you keeping it from picking up the gravel?
Good morning Scott. Great question. Yes - the driveway is gravel and dirt. I always start the season with the skid shoes on the blower set to the highest position (so the blower is high off the ground) and I leave it there until I am confident the ground is frozen - usually around the end of December. Then I drop them down (so the blower is on the ground). I try to be dilligent throughout the Fall to remove any sizeable rocks off the driveway as I come across them. I also carry two spare shear bolts and my wrenches in my toolbox throughout the winter. The first winter, as I was learning, I broke about 6 or 7 shear bolts and then I started the above method for last winter and never broke a single shear bolt the whole season. Hope that helps! A local dealer suggested that you should have a minimum of 30 HP to run a snowblower. Does the PTO seemed strained when using blower?
Good day EF! Thanks for the question. Of course I would not want to correct the dealer but perhaps he was confused or didn't;t understand the question at the time. You don't need 30 HP to run a snowblower attachment. Several different models of snowblowers which require different minimum PTO HP. Mine as you know, is a Kubota model sized for my B series PTO HP of 19. It works great. Never stresses the engine or the tractor - runs clean and beautifully. They also make blowers smaller Bx models which have even less HP than mine. If you look up the Land Pride website and go under "Snow Removal", you will see them there and they show the minimum HP of 18 HP. Plus there are numerous rear blowers made by different manufacturers on the web that require far less than 30 HP. I hope that helps a bit. Thanks for watching and all the best!

I just got my first Kubota. Bx1880 front blower. (No back blade). Semi soft cab. (Orange After Market brand). Solid windshield and roof and added LED headlights, rear light and strobe. Also 2 cabin heaters. One electric and one Hot Water. Would’ve liked to get a little bigger machine but it wouldn’t fit in my garage or my budget. It works well though.

As you go forward, why are you not using the back blade ?
Good morning George! An excellent question. And the reason is why I had to buy the blower. The driveway is just under a mile long and is tight to the forest - basically just a path dug through the forest so there is no setback on the sides. You can only plow for a short time through the winter before the driveway becomes too narrow to plow any more ( the snow continues to build on the sides and slowly starts closing in on the driveway) as there is no where to push the snow. I would have loved to just get a front plow for the FEL but over the years of experience, the best and most practical way to clear it is with a blower. Hope that explains it. Have a great New Years!

Hey Big Red. No, I don't, cause they are super expensive, but someone went by on the lake about 2 weekends ago with them on and man, they looked pretty awesome. I could never justify the expense but I see that the hydro utility crews up here have them and they say they are pretty much unstoppable in the forest. Take care!
@@GPOutdoors They are expensive for sure...have a set for my Yamaha Viking VI..plus the side x side is lifted so I have really good ground clearance...could never get around here without them! Maybe once I get my tractor and a few implements I'll be able to do without the tracks and sell them.

You do realize that checking the oil on a stone cold motor is useless, right ? Unless you see a puddle under the machine or have reason to suspect the oil may be low...start the machine, let it get up to operating temp & then check the oil. Yes, I know it's a diesel & takes a while to reach temp. Go inside, turn the power on & have a cup of coffee. Then go check the oil & snowblow.

GP Outdoors it's not. On any ohv engine, be it gas fired or diesel, the oil in the head drains into the block when sitting for a period of time which could give a false full reading as the vast majority is in the pan. Allowing it ro tun & then checking it will give you an accurate reading. Flathead (old briggs, tecumseh, kohler & the like) can be safely checked cold.
Checking the engine oil cold is not a problem.
I dont see any harm in checking oil before cold start it's peace of mind that you have oil in the engine
