I've been using Negate for just over a year....and turned my old router into an AP. I stared with the 2100 and upgraded to the 4200 when I upgraded my internet service. I took a free Udemy course on the how to properly setup PfSense. All worked out well 1st time.
We need a 4200 with an SFP slot, guys. The 2100 has not enough CPU power for 2 Gbit fiber to the home connections and the 6100 is a bit too expensive. The advantage of the SFP is the ability to insert a XGS PON-module and have the firewall directly connected to the fiber. Lower power consumption, lower latency and more insight.
I agree 100%, but these things you mention - are what makes people like me (whom can't really afford it) buy a 6100 Max like I did. Oh well. At least my router is bangin'. lol
My understanding is that sizing for one of these appliances should consider the imix traffic and not the iperf tests. Why iperf being marketed here? Thank you,
Hey Netgate, with regards to the 6100 and the SIM Card slots, is there any information how to get 4G/5G working ? Seems cellular connectivity is abandonware on pfsense side ?
Shipping a system with a cellular modem card in it only increases the cost for people who don't want a cellular modem. You can certainly roll your own cellular service. There is some documentation: docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/cellular/index.html and you could open a query on the forum to get some input from those folks who have recently added cellular to their systems.
Thank you for your question! While pfSense Plus software excels at firewall, routing, and VPN functionality, it does not currently include built-in sandboxing features, which would require breaking SSL.
Mine, I wouldn’t mind paying to support development if the plus option was a bit cheaper. Make it 5 bucks a month paid annually and I’ll gladly pay for it. I’m just on hassle away from leaving pfsenseCE anyway…
Love pfSense I've been self hosting it for years now, Currently on CE, I'd be keen to support the devs and the work they do, Perhaps its time for an update to the 1100, something with 2.5G might be nice
Sorry to hear that you think so! Every Netgate appliance includes 24/7 zero-to-ping support, pfSense Plus software with free lifetime updates, and purpose-built hardware that's extensively tested to ensure optimal performance - all with no recurring licensing fees or hidden costs that you typically find with other firewall vendors.
@ I’m using the 6100 almost one and a half year by now and it’s great since I have Unify Access points system only for this purpose. Pfsense isn’t for every user specifically on the home community as it doesn’t have WiFi, if they will have a base WiFi support without any extra devices or with a single device their audience will be doubled!!

Currently testing a 4200 variant with 10GB. No info on what the price might be.

Wait. What?! My 6100 has SIM card slots?! WHAT..... *goes off to google*
@@EpicFlightViews Also has M.2 slot for 4G/5G cellular card, NETGATE showed this off when they release the product but never hear any news since......

Hello, Somebody know if it is possible to add a sand box server, just like Fortinet or sonicwall?

Agreed!
Good job Justin
You qppliemces are all overpriced for whet they offer, specially for any home user.

Great product, lacking of WiFi is the only downside
Wifi should "ALWAYS" be seperated, not built in !
@ I humbly disagree for the home lab community Wi-Fi is a must
@@liora2kthen pfsense is not right for you
