Best version by a mile. It’s a tall order to surpass Marty Robbins, who it the best in my opinion. But theses cats are way out there. Seems to me the whole song floats on the soft bed of that pedal steel and that guy, Dennis Delorme (aka Orville), nails it. The whole song, such patience, eh? Love the way the vocal stretches out the last word in the lines. Reminds me a bit of Dwight Yoakum. Leon Russel does a “fair” version too. Since he wrote the song, of course he would. I wonder what gear they are using. Guessing here but maybe Fender (Tube)Twin Reverb. Who knows? Nice tremolo on the guitar. Crystal clear and wonderful tones.
Beautiful rendition 😘😘😘
