Recently I finished my exams and its been quite a ruckus but now that I have some time to relax I decided to binge watch relaxing creators and you sir are by far the most relaxing, not trying to throw shade other creators with the same kinda style (Dylan Lemay's Call Vlogs are hella good) but this cooking content with this kinda vibe is really relaxing for me. Please, for the love of whatever higher power there might be, don't quit. Kind regards- a CAS aircraft.
You ever notice how close spices and techniques of Mexican and a lot of Asian food overlap? Chili Oil is a thing in Mexico too but slightly charred for smokey flavour that actually goes great in Pho. Try Thai red chilies in your Posole next time. Try throwing some carne asada in some Chow Mein. Throw some Chinese hot mustard on your Tortas. Try throwing Salsa Verde on salty pork Bao. I'm Mexican but I love all types of Asian food bro. Traditional stuff too. It's fun to order from 2 different places and mix together.
I just got a Wok recently, I can’t wait to try this! I love your videos by the way, your voice is so calming. The video style is a work of art too! Keep up the good work :)
Clearly a tamale fan. I like them for breakfast (we are heavy breakfast, light supper people). My favorite is the cheese and jalapeño tamale. While they steam, I heat up some green enchilada sauce and fry a sunny side up egg. On the plate: tamale covered with the verde sauce topped with an egg. If I have some cojita, I will sprinkle a little bit on the egg. I have done the same thing with the pork tamales and a red enchilada sauce. Both are yummy and very warming in the morning.
"These tamales go great with chili oil" THAT is the America I know and love right there, different cultures coming together to make something beautiful 🇺🇸
Ah, the platey grabby thing. Much better than me trying to slip my fingers and a towel between the crack of the wok and the plate, inevitably burning myself in the process.
I have a steamer you can throw in the microwave for however long and stuff comes out great in it. I got it years ago when I lived in Korea and I haven't been able to find another one since. So unfortunate.
I didn't have a microwave for a decade because *poor* and my kitchen was stupid small. Turns out reheating food in a steam basket over a wok is fast and efficient and the food was better. One of the best meals I've ever had was a big plate of Thanksgiving leftovers steamed over my trusty 5 dollar wok. Still my wok 25 years later.
Hello! love your channel bro. I see that you like tamales 🫔 just a suggestion, however you like to reheat them, without the husk of course. either it’s steaming them deep frythem or in the oven, Put a sunny side up egg on top of the tamales and your choice of salsa it’s amazing
Love the bait and switch of a guy who usually cooks dumplings is now steaming tamales in a video about steaming using chinese steaming baskets and wok. Best plot twist ever.
You can also use a plate, pot, oil, and foil to make one. I put a little water in a pot then I ball up foil so it makes 4 foil balls then put them in the corners of the pot, then I set the plate on top of the foil balls and then oil it then boom, you got a steamer
“The only mess in your kitchen should be you” gonna use that when I need motivation to do my dishes
@@sayeedkizuk5822 Just use soap
That is definitely the number one takeaway from this video, for me at least! 😂
I felt that.
Same.

I think...I THINK Jon might like Tamales 😂😂
How did you figure that out (gasp)🤫🥴🥶🤯😱
Dont forget the chili oil
i doubt that

Ah yes, the “plate grabbing thing” is my favorite kitchen tool
I actually have 3 different kinds
It defintaly could not be replaced with another non single purpose tool.
Adam brown would be real upset
The Zelda music brings it together lol
Shout-out to your roommates mom, a genuine real one
As a Mexican I was a bit turned on by your impeccable pronunciation of “tamales”. LOL!
You could tell he was really leaning into that perfect pronunciation 🫔
The way he said it sold I subbed!
You and me both! Lol
Are you sure it’s not just him. Like, I’m straight, but if he asks I’d have to think twice
I thought it was only me…
New way to warm up my left over “Tamales” (chef Jon voice)
Your excitement at steaming is palpable
I am so full from eating pupusas for dinner, yet I would still make room for a tamale or two
All this technical jargon!?!? I'm legit loling. This guy needs a show!!
I need “The only mess in this kitchen is me” on an apron
Def yes must have now as I AM a mess lol
Yes!
I'd buy it
that would make amazing merch

Once again with the amazing background music! You’re my favorite person!
I love it when he says "tamales'.
Your voice has such a range from 'tamales' and 'platey grabby thing' and I'm feeling steamy
How fortuitous, I was gonna buy a steamer basket this week, thanks for the rundown on some add ons (the grabby thingies) to make my steaming easier.
As a mexican fan, the way you talk about mexican food always put a smile on me.
Your technical terms for your equipment are on point. The platey grabby thing is an awesome kitchen piece!
Why can’t everything be explained this way?! Thank you. I love it. ❤

Wind waker, Twilight princess n skyward sword are honestly sum of the best zeldas ever
I hadn't thought of this (raised soooo white) and I love my wok. I've been looking at steamers while trying to keep my equipment minimal. Thank you
I freaking love you for this video and steaming those tamales in your steamer basket!

Love your style!
“The only mess in your kitchen should be you” aha YASSSS BOO 💁🏽♀️😌🤌🏽💅🏽
Have some bamboo steaming baskets. They fit perfectly into the lip of my favourite deep dish frying pan. Coincident. But I’ll go with it!!!
Y'all how fun would it be to see him try to make dishes from entirely diffrent cultures like watching him make pastheleas would have me rollin
I love the Zelda background music
Wait. Yummy tamales.
All day everyday!!
Lucky you.
Awww.
Love Tamales!!
Steamer baskets are a necessity.
Steaming is a gamechanger.
The wok spin + the pose??? This man is too saucy 🕺🏾🔥
I subbed because I agree with your thingy language and the only mess should be me! Perfect videos.
Ah, the platey grabby thing. Much better than me trying to slip my fingers and a towel between the crack of the wok and the plate, inevitably burning myself in the process.
That Zelda background music hits & is a perfect fit for Tamales 🫔 👌
"it was given to me by my roommate's mom, full of tamales"
I saw a LE CREUSET wok today
Worth it ?
Cheers from San Diego California
I also do a little dance like that with the first bite of deliciousness... Sometimes it's even for tamales... On a plate...
He’s so cute.
Simply Delectable. Is a word I would use to describe the er...food. Lol
Just bought myself one of those induction wok burners: OMG they work so well ^^
"Platey grabby thing" I love it😭😭😭

Those are pretty cool "grabby things" you have there
This had no right being this funny 😂😂

Very funny. I love your content, brother. Keep creating, and I will continue watching. Have a wonderful day.
you should join the try guys in a cooking battle or being a judge 😁
Your just plain amazing
A solid win for the internet, because he mentioned tamales at every possible point... my Nanã would be proud güey
Background music: Legend of Zelda. Specifically from Wind Waker if I'm not mistaken? Grandma's house I think?
Nice choice.
He knows how to dress and cook like this????
I'm sold 😂
The fact that he called everything thingy and then proceeds to tell me how to cook is amazing
The best part is his accent saying “tamales”
I read this as “turn your work to the best streamer”
Love the bait and switch of a guy who usually cooks dumplings is now steaming tamales in a video about steaming using chinese steaming baskets and wok. Best plot twist ever.
Dude you got me missing my Tia’s tamales.
the description of tools is how I describe everything to my husband lol
What's with the legend of Zelda background music?
i love this I don't steam stuff but my mom does so I might aswell learn
You are totally entertaining and so informative. Would like to meet you some day.
Thanks, bless you.
So we now know all the grabby thingys we need
Missed your shorts do you have videos too bro? I’d recommend it!
Man if I was tripping on some shrooms, and I watched this video, I would die laughing 🤣🤣
I like the tamales pronunciation 👌
Can you actually steam the items in the wood baskets? I would think that over time, the steam would destroy the wood baskets.
You can also use a plate, pot, oil, and foil to make one. I put a little water in a pot then I ball up foil so it makes 4 foil balls then put them in the corners of the pot, then I set the plate on top of the foil balls and then oil it then boom, you got a steamer
Once I heard the Zelda theme I couldn't focus on any of the other audio lol
Tamales with chili oil? That sounds amazing.
What brand is that jacket? It looks amazing
