Thanks for a great tutorial... for those concerned about the "crinkle" and/or plastic, just leave it out. Someone said not to wash minky, I have no idea why not. I've washed it in other projects without a problem. Used it in quilts with no problem. Thanks
Hi Nicole, t a milk bag is what you used in the taggie blanket.. I use the bag that is inside the cereal boxes it is very crinkly baby loves the sound.. :)
I stumbled into this video today. Thank you for the idea. I have a 2 week old great grandson and he has a problem with his thumbs. He is not using them. His parents have to try and get him to grab onto things, he may even need a small operation on the skin between thumb and finger. I'm thinking this could be an aid in his physiotherapy. Thank you. I'm in Australia.
Great instructions, clear and to the point, super cute blanket. I'm making an Arizona State University Sun Devil tag blanket for a baby boy I watch in my home and I'm so excited! Unfortunately I have to do it all by hand stitching but it'll be worth it :)
Hi Nicole yes here in Ontario Canada our milk comes in a bag with three 1 litre bags in it. I have used the outer bag of the milk for taggie blankets :)
I am wondering how to wash it! Hang to dry? My biggest question is can the baby suffocate on the plastic milk bag inside? (Maybe they roll on to it - face first?) I'm not trying to be a troll, just asking! I do love how it came out, you did a great job! TFS (I am a 7th decade great grandmother that worries too much!) 💕
Hi there. I recommend Washing in cold water and hanging to dry. And also putting it inside a mesh laundry bag so the little loops don't snag on anything else in the wash. I'd recommend only giving this to a baby to play with while they're being watched by an adult. I'd never let them have it unattended or while they're sleeping in their crib. 😊
Sorry, I understood the cereal bag part. I was just curious if milk was sold in bags in the US as we only have it in cartons and bottles here in Australia 😀
So question - what foot do you use to sew these? I made my first 2 today and my first attempt sewing the pieces together did not do well. Had to get the sewn ripper out. I changed to my walking foot and that helped but still had to seam rip once more. So curious what foot you use? Ty
Just found your channel and was very interested in your 1998 quilt. I'm starting one and the only thing that I don't know is how to quilt it. Did you do a video explaining how you did that. I'm so lost when it comes to that. Need some ideas. Btw that is one amazing quilt. How did you do on fair?
Hi there. I ended up using a long arm machine and I stippled the entire thing pretty much, I outlined some of the larger applique pieces but otherwise just added in quilting around and inbetween the applique. Thank you for watching my videos!
You can purchase materials online that are "toy crinkle fabrics" and created for this type of thing. Milk bags are something that I'm using as an alternative, as it is cost effective and essentially preventing milk bags from ending up in the garbage! :) So far milk bags have worked the best (I have tried plastic shopping bags but the plastic is not quite heavy enough to make a nice "crinkle" sound) Perhaps the plastic from a cereal bag would be heavy enough? Although I have not actually tried it.
Hello! I would search around on Facebook groups near your area. I'm from Ontario Canada so there's several Facebook groups that advertise local makers and upcoming shows! If you're also from Ontario, I do a lot of shows in the Durham region. If you follow my Instagram or my Facebook page, I'm always posting where I'll be! 😊 The links to my pages are in the video description box
Hi there! I'm from Ontario Canada and our milk comes in a bag with three 1 litre bags of milk inside that bag. So i've used the outer bag , as shown in the video for the taggy blankets (this isn't the part that actually holds the milk)
Hi there. You cannot put this in the dryer. Aside from the use of the milk bag, you shouldn't put minky fabric in the dryer, or ribbon. It all washes nicely, with cold water, but just lay flat or hang to dry :)
Yip, my friend didn't realize her tag blanket was in the wash pile that ended up in the dryer, and her crinkle shrank and as a result it doesn't crinkle anymore
Hi there! A taggy blanket/crinkle toy is a sensory toy/comfort blanket. It's for babies to explore various textures, colours and fabrics with their hands. It's similar to a "quiet time" book, if you have seen those before. Something to quietly entertain them. :) They make great shower gifts or additions to gift baskets!
I worry about a sheet of plastic between the fabric pieces for an infant's mouth. Sounds like a choking/suffocation hazard to me should the baby chew the piece open.
You would want to inspect it often as with all items you give to a baby/child to play with. That being said, with all the extra precautions such as sewing the edges/ribbon three times like she did you really shouldn’t have a problem.
Thee amount of ums you said made me want to punch myself in the face. On that note I stayed and watched because the tutorial is actually good.... Work on saying um girl.... I swear if I hear it tomorrow I'm just smacking someone.

Can it be washed and dried in the dryer with a cereal bag?

This video is 5 years old, but still the best video I've found. Thank you so much!
These are so cute! You can use the inside bag of cereal as well. Obviously, you’ll wNt to wash it first but it work great.
I love the way you give instructions..You have things ready .and get to it ..I love people who do this instrad of talking to everyone..Wonderful job..
Umm, totally fine! LOL! You have the sweetest voice and speak clearly so don't worry!
Great tutorial! Geez people! Taggies have been around for many years! Everything is sewn down & around!
I learned this from someone else but you can use a chop stick to make the corners extra crispy when you turn something inside out.

So sorry to hear that! Hopefully the taggy blankets help in some way. Thank you for taking the time to watch my video.
You said "um" exactly 70 times in this video. Yes i counted. And you gave great clear instructions. Keep it up.
Ha ha, I also have the tendency to count when people repeat a word or sound.
Cynthia seems like I heard this before so!some counted the UMS. Maybe she's chanting UMMMMM UMMMM LOL
Thanks, great tutorial. I love the textured pink fabric!

There is actual crinkle paper you can get that is safe to use and you can machine wash and dry.

Great tutorial! Thank you! ❤
Thank you so much for this lovely tutorial. I made two for my cousins baby ❤ You did and amazing job.
I was interested in hearing about the milk bag since I am unfamiliar with those. This tutorial is great. Thank you.

What?
It's a British and Canadian thing. They buy their milk in bags rather than cartons/jugs like we do in the US.
I used a wipe package!
Would a potato chip bag work?
Thank you for the tutorial. I am wondering though is there any chance of choking by having the plastic inside of the taggy
Thanks a lot for a great tutorial! You explain really well and the camera job is perfect! 🌸🌸
Where do you get milk bags? What kind of ribbon do you use? Is it grosgrain or satin?
This is a lovely video 💕
I'm going to make it tonight.
Thank you 💛
I use cereal bags inside a box of cereal also is great :)
Shelley St.Clair thanks for that suggestion. I have no idea what a milk bag is 🙄 is it powdered milk or liquid?
Thank you for this idea Shelley. I'm going to give it a try! Our 10th great-grandchild is due in December, so I need to get crackin'!!
@@nicolemitchell446 I said a cereal bag the bag inside a cereal box that the cereal comes in.. :)

Nah milk only comes in bag’s that I know of in Canada not in America
I’m planning to try with oven bags which would be heat resistant
How much do you sell them for at craft shows
Very nice and cute for a baby gift. Thanks for sharing!
Hello, this is a great idea! 😁 Thank you! 💕 Erica x
Thank you so much - so glad you enjoyed! Happy sewing!
Thank you from South Africa. Gorgeous idea. Fabulous fabrics
Glad you enjoyed! Thank you so much for watching!
I’m going to make a few of these, thanks for the tutorial!!
What's a milk bag? Thanks for the tutorial.
Love the video. Am in the process of making the blanket. Do you think ric rac would be a poor choice as one of the ribbons
works great. just make sure you sew it on securely
Do you recommend washing the fabric before you sew this?

Never saw such a bunch of worry warts either make the toy or forget it little baby with no teeth isn't going to chew through that
I made one, it was very easy!
Awesome! Glad the video was helpful! :)
can you please answer Julie Grant's question.
Hi there! I don't see a comment left by a Julie Grant - if you let me know the question I'd be happy to answer it :) Thank you!
What is a good product to use if you don't have milk bags? Is there something that might be available in the USA that you'd recommend?

QuiltersWorkshop cereal bags would probably be a good idea. Thanks, I'll have to try that.
Any type of plastic will work
@@QuiltersWorkshop cereal bags work great!
Great idea, was wondering if bubble wrap would also work ?
I'm going to attempt to make one of these but hand sew all of it due to no machine.
How do it go. Did you make it

What is this "TAG"ing blanket? For little fingers to more easily grab it or something?
Wakana Vki Rachel they are more of a toy :)
Some babies and young children like the silky feel of a tag. Be it on clothing or a blanket. It is soothing and comforting to them.
Like their first lovey quilt to feel and snuggle.
What are taggy blankets for?
For some children, the silky feel of tags is comforting or soothing to them.
why can't you iron it ?
Excellent video, thank you 😊
beautiful. I'm going to try it out. thanks!!
Thank you just made one for my baby :)
Thank you !!
Great video thanks for sharing 🙂
I don’t know what a milk bag is. ??
I was wondering- what are those tags/ ribbons for?
I believe kids like to play with them
Good tutorial
Never heard of a milk bag where do you find them?
Christine Carrigan I haven’t either???
very nice.
Can these be put in the dryer?
Hi there. No, I never put anything using minky in the dryer. Lay flat or hang to dry 😊
Shouldn’t you put holes in the plastic to decrease suffocation risk? Nice diy project though
MandalaBunny ... it’s inside the fabric. There’s no suffocation risk from the plastic if it’s inside something..
@SoftBoyBlue 3 I'm going to make some but punch holes in the plastic layer.
Do you accept orders?

Chris Harrison it is totally enclosed inside the sewn fabric. What are you concerned about?

Suffocating Plastic! Not dryer friendly! Ribbon dye likely not really good for baby to chew! This us terrible.
