That's messed up... what about equal protection?
We have majority verdicts in England now. It's a qualified direction and has to be given in terms that the jury must always strive to reach unanimity and it's given after a reasonable time for deliberation has passed, but it's there and personally I think there's a huge level of inherent dishonesty about the idea, but it's there now.
