“I’m a hero, just like you!” Besides Genos’ fangirling, this is the first time someone is acknowledging Saitama as a hero to his face. No rank, no complex backstory exposition, no questions asked, just someone who accepts him as the same-someone who wants to do good for good. Hero to hero. If it weren’t already for the scenes prior, if I didn’t already love Mumen Rider, that delivery of that line alone would have made fall in love with him as a character and a good lad.

I think this is one of the prime example that ONE the author of opm is really strict with the proper logic of his power scalings if these were other shounen anime's it has a high chance that they will give mumen rider some hidden powers or something but in this anime even though how much mumen rider wanted to defeat dsk it wasnt enough at all Which explains even further why his sunman manga proceeded for 20 years
Mumen Rider is the great hero P.s - Mumen Rider and Saitama are good friends. Saitama respects and acknowledges Mumen Rider's ability to continuously meet the weekly quotas of the C-Class heroes, something Saitama found to be a difficult job. He also compliments Mumen Rider for putting up a nice fight against the Deep Sea King.

The best part about one punch man is that every seems to think that it's just a parody/gag when it's really not. It's quite a serious story just portrayed in a general comedic fashion. The comedy is most prevalent in S1 but later on it becomes equal to the amount of serious moments.

That despite of being a fighter with knowledge it doesn't really estimate his quality as a hero because he just accepted being a so called *"hero"* to advertise his dojo, thus ge neglected his student Garou.
Up until episode 8, Saitama has been yearning for recognition. Now he's faced with the cut-throat drama of the Hero Association, and mobs of the gullible and the ungrateful. He quickly adapted, and learned that recognition is shallow. Saitama would rather take the hit to his image for the sake of others, even if he saves the day - a hero among heroes. Besides, he has Genos looking up to him, and now Mumen Rider as well. That's the recognition that counts. The way he blew away the weather with that punch is insane.
It just occured to me, that Mumen Rider probably made a personal recommendation to the hero association to move Saitama up to Calss B. They were C Rank 1 and 2 respectively.
It's not bad, it's just missing 90% of the time. Can't be bad if it's not there. There are 2 eps where it's ok to good, the rest is bad. The sound design and directing is horrendous 90% of the time. Absolutely destroying characters, most egregiously absolutely gutting Saitama as a character. That was unbearable. He had plenty of character traits in s1 and in the manga later. Here, he is literally monotone and emotionless 100% of the time. Even when the animation, scenes and dialogue are utterly opposite of that. These occasional moments where he shows his passion were key, and they were absolutely pathetic and horrendous in "s2". Shows less than 0 understanding of his character. The comedy is destroyed, the action is destroyed, the characters are destroyed. Zoomed in shots everywhere to cut corners and avoid extra work. Whole thing is cut up like a trailer, nothing has time to breath and nothing has any impact because of that, the dialogues don't work, the jokes don't work, nothing. And it has a bunch of random filters half and gradients that make it seem like a dream sequence. It's one of the worst adaptations and directing ever. There are so many more issues on top of this. Only a super casual viewer who barely even gives a shit about what they are watching can think it's any good. Or watch because of the brand name and don't care about the quality. The manga was great on the other hand. It's quite messed up how anime viewers apparently have one descriptor for every aspect of a show and it's "animation". When they it's rarely even about the animation. Everything is called animation apparently. If everything else besides the animation was good, it would be fine. It was rushed as hell production, slapped on with a rookie director who doesn't know what they are doing and studio who has never worked on anything like this.
Don't listen to the window lickers that claim season 2 is a downgrade in animation. It's just the same as season 1... I have seen both seasons several times over now and I have NO idea where they get that idea from.
I read it from some comments somewhere, the writer (ONE) said if Speed o' Sound Sonic made it in time with his weapon, he could have beat the Deep Sea King
