      You'll be able to find frozen octopus for sure Rhiannon...which is the best anyway! We'd never use fresh-out-of-the-sea octopus, even, as you know, we have fresh octopus in abundance over here...but fresh-fresh is far too tough. The freezing process is THE best way to soften octopus so we'll get a fresh one (if Alex is here he fishes them, otherwise we'll buy one) and put it in the freezer for a few days before we cook it.Tarama (the smoked cod's roe you need for the Taramasalata) should be available from good Greek deli's...even if that's online. A little goes a long way. Go for it Rhi...a little bit of Greece on your table!

    Would love to try homemade Taramatasalata in UK but hard to get smoked cod roe! Beautiful setting!

      Thanks for the great feedback Carolyn. I've found a couple of online companies for you in the UK that sell smoked cod's roe (assuming you don't want to do it yourselves...we can give you a recipe if you do, but it's quite a faff!). They are : www.lancastersmokehouse.co.uk also www.thefishsociety.co.uk (out of stock when I checked last) and thirdly (this one's pricey!) www.finefoodspecialist.co.uk. Hope this helps and do let us know how you get on. Failing that it'll be a suitcase job next time you're over!
