This could be an alternate timeline where they amended the amendment where a present can only serve two terms here. Reagan did not get Alzheimer’s and die.

I can see why some of these scenes were cut. Lloyd Bridges picking the wrong time to go senile and Striker's empty hospital bed with the newspaper are excellent though: they should have kept them in.
I know they say brevity is the soul of wit but at the same time, I don’t mind the film being longer with extra jokes if they work. Problem is, half the time, they act like these “non-essential” scenes are form of shame and hide them away from the public viewing rather than preserved in deleted scenes menus. This means the only way the public can view and make their own decisions is if they were fortunate to have had one of the alt cuts from tv recorded. Imagine the fan edits that could be made to save some of the underrated gems.😃
It's all about seats per day. A film longer than 2 hours in length is discouraged because the number of shows in a theater is less than a film less than 2 hours in length. You have the length of the film plus at least 45 minutes to exit the previous viewers, enter the new viewers, and show the previews before you start the film again. Many of the deleted shots were re-makes of the gags from the original film. When it's time to cut fluff, stuff already done would be the first to trim.
@Fadamor That has nothing to do with what I said. My comment was about how the extra stuff in films like this get buried and never let out. Think how many films have their unused material aired out in one way or another for audiences to experience now that we’re past the VHS era. What’s more, for spoof films like this are cutting out good stuff in a bad call edit. I’m particularly appalled by some of the lost jokes from the first 2 _Naked Gun_ films that deserved to make the cut. As for the issue of 2+ hours, that logic hasn’t been true for nearly 3 decades now and was the reason James Cameron had to sacrifice parts of his creative vision for _Aliens_ because his friend told him it was too long for audiences to tolerate. Now regarding *this* film, the whole thing is a bit of sequelitis and I’m not sad to particularly lose any of these from the film but the preservation of them still to behold should not be lost. Also, the film is 85 minutes. Adding any of this back would only make it 96 minutes.
@@MichaelAarons1701 The film length has nothing to do with whether the audiences can tolerate it, and everything to do with how many showings a theater can jam into the opening weekend to maximize opening weekend box office reports. It's all about the Benjamins. Films are cut down to the supposed "ideal" length to maximize audience turnover per day. The Editor does the cutting at the direction of the Producer(s) - with some input from the Director who's been told, "The film will be shortened to X:XX so what can you live without?" Your only hope is that they release a "Director's Cut" when it goes to BluRay because then the edits usually get put back in.

They should've kept the scene where Testa tries to grab the guy's arm and fails. This shows why one of the crew members is not wearing a jacket when Striker sees them outside.
In the deleted scene with the Bomber and his wife, you see the signs for the various classes to start the scene. That can still be seen in the background where people are asking the information agent questions.
This was a great sequel every bit as funny as the first Airplane and having William Shatner as the commander of our Moon Base was brilliant that part of the movie was hilarious.
One of the best scenes for me and we all have differe t things that tickle us, is the bit with the pilots. Capt Oveur, Dunne erc 😂. So i wish they kept that one at least damn

This movie came out when people had high hopes for the space shuttle. This is how we all imagined the future of space shuttle flight would become.
